Noted. What trouble will ensue if I "mess up" the service menu on the remote?
I am reasonably sure that the GT, which in its day, was above the S/ST models, will have means to check usage hours.

1. ST60 is unavailable, atleast in the states of Maharashtra & Delhi. I got a post about the availability of one ST60 in Bangalore, but it would have been too much of a hassle. A VT might have been a different kettle of fish, though.
2. I went for the GT50 for the PQ, in which it was demonstrably superior to the S60D in the demo together. Both 42 inches and 50 inches suit me fine.
The GT50 is slightly more expensive than the S60. I paid 80k less 1k =79k for the GT. The 1k is the exchange price I got for the best PQ I have seen in India ( the 1994 model CRT Onida KY Series 21 inch!)
There are no GTs left in stock, atleast not to my information.

I might have been tempted to go for the larger S60, but in my only deciding factor - PQ - the GT50 was head and shoulders above the S60 (in the demo, in the showroom) and so it became a no brainer.
It was a little bit like choosing Barry Richards for his timeless, simple style over the more flamboyant, 'loud', Viv Richards.
Finally, these choices are very individualistic!

Panasonic technicians don't know much about this issue with plasma. the guy came to my house even don't know how to open the service menu. When I opened it for him to check usage hour he told me not to open it again. I know if you mess up with service menu accidentally you will be in really big trouble. Lucky for me S60 has a option in normal menu to check usages hours. I don't know if Gt 50 has it or not.

what was the price for 42Gt50? GT50 is any-day better than s60. If ST60 is available I would advised you to go for that. But why didn't you went for 50"?

Just to share my experience..
At first I also thought I will go for 42" as tv will be in my bedroom. But one day I saw a X50 in ezone and that size just grab my attention, And decided to go for 50", Further find that s60 is avilabe in 50" and 60" size. Now 50" look perfectly normal(even better) from 9'-10' distance. In my office we have a 42" display, now it looks pretty small in size from that distance.
