How does one connect a WDTV which only has HDMI/Optical out to this? We'll need some kind of a converter in between right? Can anyone point out what kind of converter is required?

A DAC will be needed in the chain.

look at Fiio E10 or Hifiman 101 or slightly costlier HRT MS 2. All of them are rated to be extreme VFM in their price slots.

Hi,

This is my first post. I recently bought a FiiO D3 DAC from DealXtreme for $31. It comes with free international shipping. The least price I could find in India is from Bajaao. They quoted 2900/-. It is shipped & am waiting for it. Don't know if I have to pay import duty. Even if I have to, it will be cheaper still.

I own two T amps. One is the Topping Tp20 Mark II (Rs4200 with adapter) and other is an Indeed Hifi TP2020s (Rs2000 without adapter). Very much impressed with their sound quality. Neither attracted import duty.

I have Magnat Supreme 1000 FS and Diamond 9.0s apart from our age old panasonic & aiwa mini hifi speakers. The old panasonics have a kevlar drivers for bass and sounded really well with the T amps. They are 87db. Even the ragged aiwa speakers sounded beautiful with the Tamps. Both sound way better than the original systems. Was so impressed with the first Topping, I bought the second one just for the heck of it. Getting so much for so little. The build quality is top notch and you feel nice to have these amps. They sound infinitely better than my Onkyo receiver (Tx Sr307 - 65 watts pc).

The magnats are rated at 92db and have excellent SQ. I am not well versed with the hifi terms but may describe them as: laidback, detailed and powerful when needed (movies). Bought from technoguru for 27K. I am a recent entrant into the hifi world and find these forums very informative and helpful. Sincere thanks to all the active members who contribute so much. I learned (& saved) a lot from these forums.

Your post is very useful Goutham for a novice like me in this kind of things.i have ordered MUSE for 35$ (same specifications ,i think)one month back.till now there is no word after reaching Calcutta (as per the info provided by the seller).will take this much time?
i was thinking to order Topping T20,as you said for the kick of it:)
where should i order?and the time it will take normally for the delivery?
 
Hi Mate, If the seller shipped it using ordinary mail service or USPS then the item should have reached you by now or it might have been detained by the customs, Look up for the Cochin Foreign post office number in google and give them a call

For DAC, are you people considering PC input or it is for normal DVP > Topping > Speakers chain? as Fiio D3 is Optical to Analog whereas above onces seems USB to Analog.

Does it make difference if we connect optical output of DVP > DAC > amp > Speakers? would like to know.

Is there much difference in Topping TP20 & Indeed Hi-fi TP2020 in case of sound quality?

I got my T amps within a fortnight. Got it quicker from Indeed (10 days). I don't think that customs will detain them but they have the liberty of opening and checking the material. Worst case you may have to pay the customs / import duty which may account to 25% of the material cost + freight. As suggested by members you need to check with the customs if possible.

Due to official tour and lack of time, I did not compare the Topping & Indeed amps together. Will do so tomorrow and post my impressions. However I am carrying the indeed amp and diamond 9.0s on tour now and enjoying the music at nights in my hotel room. Could not wait till weekend to check out the amp. Initial impression is that both are equally good and maybe Indeed is better off due to the price difference.

But my indeed amp doesn't have stereo RCA inputs and you need the 3.5 mm jack as input whereas the Topping has RCAs. But Indeed's reputation is good and many people have positive reviews on the owner Mr Peter. If you buy an upgraded model from Indeed (i think model name is TP2021) you will get the same features as Topping apart from the overload protection and bundled with Indeed's own power adapter which is claimed to increase the oomph of the amp. Please check their site for further details. But few hundred here and there Indeed is definitely recommended for buying. E.g The adapter that came with my topping amp was a defective one and I had to shell out 600 to get another and the response from the seller was not very satisfactory as well. Mr Peter was always quick in responding and to the point. I ordered their power adapter a week ago and its on its way. Hope this info helps.

^ Should'nt be much of a difference, IMO.
But, I do feel the Indeed HiFi thing might be slightly superior looking at the announced better quality capacitors and components used. But, nothing can be stated without comparing them side by side.

Can we use subwoofer with T20+JBL control combo? Or is it not required?
