Toshiba P2305 39" Review

Guys, thank you for all the feedback. I purchased a Toshiba 39L3300 from flipkart. It got delivered on Monday morning. :)

Flipkart has made a request to Toshiba to get installation done, but it's been two days now and noone from Toshiba has called or got back. I cannot open the TV myself as it will invalidate the warranty.

When I called Toshiba, they said Flipkart made the request (even though I received a ticket number), and that I cannot place any request for installation.

I hope they at least come today. This is giving me a bad impression about Toshiba, am wondering how to escalate this matter so that they get the work done.

Also, would wall or table mount be preferable for this. It will be installed in the drawing room.
You can very well go ahead and open the box. I had confirmed this with Toshiba tech.

Thanks Akshay. Luckily someone came and fixed it. But he did not sign the warranty card, said as TV was purchased from Flipkart, no stamp is needed. Only bill. Also, nice to see a BHPian in these forums.

First impressions:
The TV works fine, though Tata SKY SD looks grainy as heck on it. Wonder if that is normal since it is being upscaled from 480p to 1080p. Have left it on Intelligent mode since it seems to adjust brightness etc. based on ambient light source.

Soundwise, not as good as the P2305 (at least based on store impressions), as the speakers here are downward firing, not forward facing. Still, they are rated at 10W x 2 RMS, same as the P2305. I need to crank up the loudness to 60-70 (out of 100) to get an acceptable level of sound. My old Sony Trinitron CRT managed similar loudness at only 25% volume.

Picture wise, when I shift through the menus on tata sky, I notice a bit of tearing (as in, I move from one option to another, and the font on the option flickers/tears/blurs before settling down). Perhaps it is an LED/LCD trait?

Right now am using the traditional analogue Red-White-Yellow cables. Will get an HDMI and see if quality improves.

Still, for 35k and 3 year warranty, I guess one cannot complain too much.

I have the 39L3300 and not able to adjust any picture settings/modes when the media is playing from USB. When I press Menu button when USB movie is playing it says 'menu not available' or something like that. So the picture mode and settings are adjustable only in the blue screen (when media player is not active) and it is not helping much to tweak the display. Can someone help me?

Do these TVs allow changing the resolution so that one can watch a 480p content without upscaling it? If yes might work better for SD content.

I don't think they allow you to change the resolution of the screen when watching TV. But there are other Aspect Ratio options which you can use to watch in the original resolution.

Hmmm what's the difference?

Between say watching 480p in original aspect ratio on a fullhd screen versus using fullhd aspect ratio for 480p content? Upscaling?

You'll have better PQ on it's original aspect ratio. If you stretch it to full screen, PQ will be blurred a bit. I don't think TV upscales, it just stretches.

Hi guys

I am facing an issue with my one month Toshiba 39L3300 LED TV. Since yesterday, once or twice, there is a very shrill sound coming from the speakers for around a second or three, and the screen starts zigzagging (like in old CRT when we don't receive proper signal).

It is very hot in Delhi here (40 degrees) and the TV is left on since morning in the drawing room playing Tata Sky Active Darshan the whole day will evening. Should I put on the fan in the drawing room. Could heat be the reason for this problem occuring. I seriously hope I have not received a defective piece.

Can LED tv's be kept on for 10 hours at a stretch?

@avi550m

Yes they can kept on for 10hrs or more at a stretch. Not an issue.
But yes Heat could be one of the issue you just mentioned or it could be voltage fluctuation. Contact Toshiba customer support immediately. Y

hey guys can u tell me the boot code version and app sw version on ur p2305. it is visible in the system information in setup part of the menu. also is there any way to update the software as i feel the picture settings in media player are messed up. thanks in advance.

How is the gaming perfomance ? In two word : Motion blur and Input Lag, because blur ruins gaming on all LED tvs !? do you suggest other tv for gaming ?

Got my TV yesterday as well for 34,500 /- .Very impressed with what it offers for the price, my friend got Samsung same day and I can say that this TV is no less than the Samsung one in color reproduction or contrast ratio.
If anyone want's review from my side I can write a detailed one, but many have already done it already :). But here is small version

Pros :
* Great color reproduction
* Good contrast, 5 inbuilt picture modes provide enough quick switch choices. You can set parameters manually too.
* Plays most common video formats via USB easily.
* Impressed with inbuilt speakers.
* Price is awesome for TV of this quality. Samsung/Sony/LG can suck it.

Cons :
1. TV stand is not of the greatest quality, TV swivels a lot when touched. Does not feel firm (no problem if you wall mount though)
2. Takes time in rendering thumbnails of files from USB, until thumbnails are generated you cant navigate via remote. (Compared to my old Samsung TV which is a bit faster)
3. TV remote is small for my big hands. :p

Hello

I'm planing to bought a new 32" tv and i'm interested by the toshiba 32p2305 model (or the 39" version) ive seen it on a showroom and the PQ was good for me. But the black level and the clouding are very important for me cause generaly i like to watch tv on a completely dark room at night, so :

1. how the black look on a completly dark room and on dark scene ? did the black look grayish or is it acceptable. For exemple how a scene like on this look ?

imgur: the simple image sharer

i have drawing an hypotitical black level metric ( i can correct if you dont agree with the choosen values) :

my 32xc520 is between 4 and 5 for exemlpe.

2. is their any clouding on this tv espcialy on a completly dark room

I have the LL3300 39" model and i can say that black levels are not that good. In a moderately lit or dark room I see the black as greyish tne even with the backlight set to value of 15.

Toshiba P2305 vs L3300 query

Guys, am going to purchase a 39 inch Toshiba tv and have narrowed down the choices between the 39P2305 vs 39L3300

Will be purchasing the tv from flipkart.
The prices are:

39P2350: Rs. 36,717
39L3300: Rs. 35,500

I have come across lots of reviews of the P2305 but none of the L3300. I feel that I should go in for the L3300. Only:

1. Will the sound quality be as good as the P2305. The stores did not have L3300, so cannot compare. But it apparently has a front sound bar like the P2305, only smaller and hidden in the bezel itself, instead of being visible like the P2305.

2. Would the picture quality and reliability be as good as the P2305? Both come with three year warranty.

Also, if I want the wall mount parts, but do not want to mount the TV on the wall, will Toshiba provide me with the parts, as I may want to wall mount it later, but it would then cost me money.

L3300 is really good on pic quality. Have been using it for an year now & happy with it's performance. U will need external speakers for a rich movie exp. TV comes with wall mount brackets..no need to buy separately.

Guyz i need suggestion

I have Toshiba P2305 39 model and its 1 year old.
There is a strange problem which occurs evry now and then while viewing the HD channels.

I have tata sky at my home. And whenever i am watching any HD channel after 20-30 minutes of viewing, the audio is lost to the video or there is a 1 sec delay in audio vs video.

This doesnt happen with the SD channels. I have another 32 inch samsung full HD tv and that is also working smooth for HD channel viewing.

Normally when i have this issue, i quickly change the channel and then come back to this channel and it seems everything is normal again. But wait for another 30 mins and bamm this delay is right there.

NOTE : i always watch the TV in movie mode.

What could be the problem here. ? Please reply if you are also having any problem

Guys OP here. Can anyone of you post pic of how wall mount is attached to TV? I didnt do wall mount during initial demo and now service guys are charging money for visit. I already have the mount. TIA!

Not sure if this is what you wanted. As for the procedure I have no clue since I wasn't present during the mounting. Anyways I'm back on this forum after a long time and here to thank you for your review. I made the right choice by buying this TV. [emoji2]

It's been close to 2 years since I bought this TV and haven't had any major issues so far. The SD pq totally depends on your operator and HD looks too good.
Here are some snaps taken yesterday.
