Vinyl I am listening to...

I am awaiting my copy on LP :)

One unexpected direction my music listening is taking this year - EDM :)

I recently bought four Daft Punk albums on CD. I even bought a David Guetta :)

today's mega line up, had a rare free afternoon so let the vinyl out:

Jefferson+Starship+-+Earth+-+LP+RECORD-573907.jpg

Used to own a lousy Korean pressing of this back in my phase of "Jefferson ANYTHING will do". Don't listen to them much these days except for "Red Octopus", but some good memories of a few tracks on this, like "Take your time", "Skateboard", "Show yourself"

Back when I thought Morrison could do no wrong I was fool enough to trade a pristine copy of Them's debut album on Decca for A Period of Transition. More fool me. This is easily Van's weakest work from the 70s. Haven't managed to warm to it in all these years despite being almost a blind Van fan.

Yet to listen to Death of a ladies man properly. Somehow Phil Spector and Leonard Cohen just doesn't sound right :lol:

Last night listening was "Gentle Man" one of the A.R. Rahman initial days Tamil film. And more this is the first LP released by Pyramid Audio (PA001). Last year sourced from a music shop was the unsold last copy.
Quality of the pressing is ok but very low sound level and need to increase the volume knob in amp almost double.

I definitely prefer LCs songs covered by other artists over his own efforts! Death of a ladies man is the only LP of LC that I own - this album has been in my possession for over 30 years & I suppose I mustve listened to it no more than a dozen times!!! I agree with your point about VMs A period of transition - definitely feel sorry for your loss of Them album to acquire this particular VMs album.

@jls001
Though I dont own Old idea, Ive heard the songs from the album a few times - the vocal delivery of LC in the later day albums are quiet listenable!

So true:lol::lol::lol:

The other day I counted how many versions of Hallelujah I have and I could count Jeff Buckley, Il Divo, and Renee Fleming. A search of "Hallelujah" on YouTube throws up lots of interesting results - covers by Bon Jovi, kd lang, lots of TV singing contestants (Alexandra Burke stands out).

Rufus Wainwright did a lovely one too.

Eric Dolphy - Out To Lunch, avant garde jazz from 1964. This is a Blue Note. I'm not sure if it is a reissue or a remaster, but the sonics are excellent! And the music is very interesting. As is the liner note. What is unique for me is the lack of piano. In its place is a vibe. New from Rhythm House. Rs 695.
