Vinyl I am listening to...

Chopin Nocturnes 1 to 10 by Eugene Istomin, Columbia Masterworks (ML 5054). This is from about '54-'55. Surface noise is bothersome though the music does shines through.

Last week, I was lucky to get hold of an US Pressing near mint 3 Lp box set of Chopin (Ballades & Waltz). While his nocturne soothes , his waltz always give a blissful vibrant mood.

In between few hectic travel schedules, luckily had a break for some quality listening sessions. Took the SONY Portable player out after a long gap and had a good listening session [BoneyM LPs and EPs]over headphone.
I feel very much home and fly back in years to my drawer pant days, once I touch these Boney M records..&...listen them.... :)

Who can forget RASPUTIN song... the starting Drums and Guitar music is still an anthem for me.... The Rasputin song in "Night flight to Venus" album and EP are slightly different...as LP comes with an edited version.

I just love the Stereo effect in the song "Oceans of Fantasy" and Drums roll of "No More Chain Again"

This reminds me of my Tiny Tots days

the doors - the vinyl box set. a 7LP set, my only peeve being instead of "the doors-Mono LP" it could've been jim Morrison - an american prayer.

Isn't this record a bit over-rated? His so-called poetry doesn't rise too far above what I would term the carnal and the base. Of course this is totally my humble opinion. Others may have a far greater understanding of his message than my limited and blas grasp.

Agree. I could hardly sit through that navel-gazing junk. Not to say Jim has zero poetic creds, but if at all any of the Doors work can be considered poetic, its on the "Waiting for the sun" LP - Wintertime love, Spanish Caravan, Unknown soldier, even the quite charming bridge of "Hello I love you". Those are his best lyrics, not the oversexed trash he's most celebrated for.

I think it was "Hello I Love You" and "Love Street" that got me hooked to The Doors. And the next thing probably was Ray Manzarek's incredible ways with the organ.

But I must admit that the last time I seriously listened to the Doors was in the mid-90s. In those days I was eyeball deep into heavy metal so bands like the Doors just weren't heavy enough for my taste then. Of course I have mellowed:lol::lol::lol: and along the way, I have picked up quite a few of their LPs. I even have a new "Strange Days" LP which I have not even bothered to open. Hopefully I will get re-acquainted.

I'm a huge Doors fan but not in for Jims poetry. I've just got one LP of Doors and only one side is playable. Let me know if any come your way moderately priced :).

totally agree with all this. i should have mentioned there are two versions of "the doors- the doors". what i meant was the american prayer OR sprbly some other LP wouldve been better. maybe "alive she cried" ?
