Friday Night in San Francisco - Al di Meola, John Laughlin and Paco de Lucia. Amazing album. For me this album is one of those rare finds. I have many warm memories of listening to this album as a teenager. And the live recording is excellent.

Hi all,

Finally got hold of Belafonte's "Live at Carnegi hall" & "Return to Carnegi hall" in mint condition after a long long search. The 1st one is USA pressing & very vey thin vinyl, but the SQ is amzing. The 2nd one is an Indian pressing on heavier vinyl. Had a superb time playing all 4 of them.

Also experienced Ravi shankar's "IMPROVISATIONS & theme from Pather panchali". This is a UK pressing frm Liberty Records. Never heard of this one b4. But left me spellbound...........

Got mint 1st pressing of "Pyasa" (On Odeon black) & Salil Chowdhury's all time great "Maya". These two + some other Bengali Classics are reserved for the weekend.

Happy Vinyling...:clapping:.....

Hey brother ........ from where did u manage to get these "black beuties" ?
Hi Sridip,

The "Pyaasa" & "Maya" lps I collected frm one of my friend's father. He was mainly interested in indian classical & old bengali music. But also has a
good no. of old hindi vinyls which were almost not played. These 2 are the first ones I could convince him to part with. Due to almost 30/40 years of 'in-
box' hibernation period they looked very shabby, also the covers are all worn out. But after some religious cleaning now sounds CD silent.

Hi All,

This is quite ineresting for me. A 10" 33rpm sealed copy of Mozart's "The Marriage Of Figaro", by the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Josef Krips. It's a 'ffrr' Decca release on GCI, DumDum pressing(NO. LW 5327). The cover is also scratchless. But the record does not have any date mentioned on the lebel or the cover.

Can anyone give any idea of the time of this release?

Thanx

A Decca ffrr release would be Mono; their stereo series were labelled 'ffss'. Stereo releases started in 1958. Most Mono 10"records were phased out by 1955. So this is likely to be any time between '51 and '55.
