Vinyl I am listening to...

@wlg: Is this really a record?

I grew up reading old issues of MAD. "Number one in a field of one," was their slogan. Even Punch from the UK (before they went belly up) used to be very good. Both publications were similar in that they hold no holy cows. If one were to publish a similar mag in India, imagine the number of threats/beatings one would receive from political goons, etc?

Hi
Yes it is a 45 rpm pullout from a Mad Mag, just found it after 30 yrs, the last time I tried listening to it the arm kept jumping as it is a little warped

Just got the Eddie Vedder solo album "Ukulele Songs".

I highly recommend this, it is amazing! You can buy it from the Pearl Jam site for about $25. The music is amazing, and the vinyl package is superb! Comes with 2 booklets and a poster. Highly recommended! Will try to put some pics up later.

I am listening to rockstar. Ordered from flipcart. I am disappointed with the recording.
Thhere a couple of tracks that sound ok and that track is not "Saada hak".

I also got the album silsila. The recording is superb better than the Rockstar vinyl. The music is by shiv hari. Lata ji's voice comes out well. Flute and santoor sound superb. Another good recorded vinyl that you can get from Flipcart is lagaan.

One thing is for sure. If you want good analog sound, the recording should have dominant analog instruments like sitar, Spanish guitar, tabla, strings etc. Synthesised music is digitally produced by synth and is for sure not gonna feel like an actual instrument. For example piano is a touch sensitive instrument. Though synths mimic this effect but you cab never reproduce the feel. Same goes for guitar, the sound of a guitar string bend, the slap of the bass guitar, the slide over guitar frets. That's all I have in mind at the moment.

Rockstart vinyl is out, excited to check

Actually my mom picked these up for me when she was in Madrid.. was a birthday present for me :P
The Marillion record sounds really good.. only spun it once so far, need to spend more time with it. Incident is def amazing.. they had some other PT records and since I didn't have any I figured i'd go with this one. I actually saw them on the Incident tour when they played in Mumbai so I figured this record would be the best one for a newbie to buy :)

The reason I haven't listened to these a whole lot is coz I pickedup the following records days after I got these, so lots of listening to do! :D

1) Paul Simon - Graceland (sounds AMAZING - original UK pressing)
2) REM - Out of Time (original UK pressing)
3) The Smiths - s/t (original UK Rough Trade)
4) Lemonheads - Lick
5) Teenage Fanclub - Catholic Education
6) Red House Painters - Shock Me EP ( a true gem i've been searching for years for :D )
7) Kitchens of Distinction - Strange Free World (really great UK indie band from the early 90s)
8) REM - Green
9) Black Sabbath - Paranoid (WWA UK press)
10) Pearl Jam - VS (original pressing)
11) Neil Young - Time Fades away (orig UK press)
12) Neil Young - Tonight's the Night (orig UK press)

and now my wallet feels a lot lighter :P

Haha tek, you are full of suprises! Get busy listening....those are some excellent choices once again.

Good for you on getting the original Pearl Jam pressings. The new remaster just doesn't do it for me....it sounds way to processed!

On the flip side, if you like Foo Fighters, get all the new reissues. They sound STUNNING!!! Chris Bellman mastering baby!

Yeah I had picked up the remaster of Vitalogy and it sounded pretty bad on my modest set up.. so I figured if I was gonna get VS I'd get the original pressing, and I managed to get it for like 10 pounds so that wasn't too bad.

I had picked up Foo Fighters Colour and the Shape in Europe last year, but I don't know if it's an original or a bootleg since I got it for about 20 Euros.. new reissues sound good.. I particularly want to get the s/t one.. personally I stopped listening to the Foos after Colour and Shape, but I was a huge fan of those first two albums when they came out..

If anyone does pick up the Wish You Were Here vinyl reissue, please post some pics here... I really want to see how it looks. Thinking of picking this up as opposed to trying to find an original UK press on eBay!

Tek, there is nothing to see. It comes in a black resealable plastic bag. It has fantastic packaging. Just pick it up. The pressing is done at RTI (I can tell from the pink sleeve). Sounds absolutely wonderful! It is a quality package.

Pick it up asap. ;)

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
