legend has it that the then vice captain of indian team was window shopping alongwith a caribbian player in windies. at a music shop our vc asked the guy "who s this fellow? his posters are all around here"
the caribbian player got alarmed , pulled him aside in haste and hush hushed in his ears- "mate, if u come here and dont recognize bob marley, you ll be bashed up in public by this very public."
"wow. even if i am the vice captain of my national cricket team "

Ah! You have the more prized Mono copy (PMC 7027 - the stereo is PCS 7027) which has the punchier sound. John Lennon famously said: Listen to Sgt.Pepper in Mono, that is the right version.

Till Sgt. Pepper (and also the White album, I think) the multi-track tapes of all the Beatles' LPs were mixed down to Mono (which was the most common format in the UK in the early to late 60s -few people had stereo systems then) by the Beatles themselves, mainly John and Paul. A lot more care was lavished on those mixes. The stereo mixes were considered less important, and were left to the studio engineers. Most collectors look out for the Mono versions of all the early Beatles LPs on the yellow/black Parlophone label, as they have superior sound quality. The recent Beatles remasters on CD also had a separate Mono box.

A NM copy of the Mono Pepper sells for between $300 to $500 on eBay these days.

Hi G4,

Sadly these are stock images. I was at my workplace when I posted these up. But How I wish I had the Mono for The Beatle's LPs.

The ones I have are stereo. Here are the ones I have :

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band : Indian Pressing, 1967 and the code is PCS 7027

2. Yellow Submarine : Indian Pressing, 1969 and the code is PCS 7070

3. Revolver : Great Britain Pressing, 1966 and the code is PCS 7009.

Hi Kartick,

Keep looking. The Indian releases were also both in Mono and Stereo versions, and you should be able to find them, with a bit of luck.

Cheers!

Hey G401fan

How would you compare the Indian Mono Black/Yellow Parlophones with the UK ones? I was given a copy of Please Please Me Indian Mono by a friend of mine, and it sounds pretty good. I also have a UK stereo of it on B/Y label as well. Was wondering what your thoughts were on these Indian pressings of Beatles albums.

Hello Friends

Today i got the Sufiana Vinyl

i was very excited to listen to one of my fav track, Shukran Alla from the movie Kurban

i rushed home and played it, to my horror, its not there, though the name is still there printed on the shell,

i dont know what is happening , i the name and the track no , however the song on the disk is a different one ( Ore piya...by Rahat Fathe ali khan ), i love this track too

however disappointed  , cos this is the second time its happening, the first was with the Rockstar Lp,

did anyone experienced this ?

Talk about Mono pressings, here are 2 wonderfully pressed albums in Mono from the past, have been listening to these even since I can remember, belonged to my father. Wonderful recordings, a true pleasure listening to them!!

Listening to a rare Limited edition Boney M "Super Sound Single" of LP size 45 RPM record.
A "Super Sound Single" is a record in which Signal to noise ratio is very high or the record is cut with max high volume to eliminate any background noise. The sleeve note on "Super sound Single" is also given below.
