After a little hibernation from music got these vinyls and fully enjoying them :yahoo:

Pink Floyd - The Wall (Digitally Remastered Version).

Wanted to get this - the Flipkart song listing seems incomplete - hope that this is a full 2 LP version? Some songs are missing in the listing shown in the Flipkart link for ordering.

Something I haven't done in 25 years... A record to tape compilation. Shirley Bassey, Clark Terry, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet, Duke Ellington, Usha Iyer, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, George Shearing, Ramsey Lewis and many others.

Mine is full album in 2 lps.from Amazon uk. Price was cheaper than flipkart and rhythmhouse.

Just bought 2 copies of Rumours by Fleetwood Mac from www.rhythmhouse.in ...one is the 45 RPM 2 Disc version and the other is the regular....I call this insurance (really it is one of my most liked Albums)....

Also am listening to Hotel California on 180 gram vinyl these days...I never knew the song had such high end....absolutely floored me...

Picked up Leonard Cohen's "Old Ideas". Comes with a CD version as bonus. Deep, deep baritone. I am yet to grasp his music, though.

Fleetwood Mac Rumors has two 45 RPM versions. One available in India is the European version. The American version is Steve Hoffman mastered which is the desirable one.

Hi Malvai/Stevieboy

I have the Steve Hoffman version. I just wanted to bring to members notice that the 45rpm version available in India is not the preferred one. Incidentally both the 45 rpm versions cost the same abroad.

Hehe just noticed the lack of question mark in your post Prem. my bad.

Torque ain't cheap but it sure knocks yer socks off

Hi Stevieboy

It should have read the American version which is mastered by Steve Hoffman is the preferred one. Actually my bad grammar.

For buying records online from exchanges such as Acoustic Sounds and so on, what should one focus on and keep in mind to ensure that the records provide VFM?
Along the same lines, are 200 gm records better sonically? Do some labels provide better quality so that one can choose these labels almost automatically?
Are 45 rpm records better because the TT - pick up arm combo can extract 'more' from the grooves?
Advice/insight from the experts solicited pease.
Rider : my tastes run to Western Classical upto Copland-Schoenberg and jazz as created by Miles Davis-Ellington- Charlie Parker - Brubeck...

Keep spinning

I have not heard any sonic differences per se between a 180G and 200g pressing... but i can tell you one thing for sure: the heavier the record, the less prone to warping it is. also it will have grooves that wont wear out as fast as a lighter pressing.

however, there is a sonic difference between pressings lighter than 180g.

The 45 rpm records are sonically superior. They have more groove space (so more information etched into the grrove) and the speed itself allows for more dynamism.... the downside to this is that you'll be changing sides every 10-12 minutes...

Hi jls001

Sound quality wise the vinyl of Adele 21 on my system is ok. Nothing very special. Actually i was a little surprised. I think it is my system which is still not upto the mark.

Have not heard the cd. So cannot comment. From what i have read, the sound quality on cd is supposed to be very very good.

Manav,
Thank you for the insight, especially the one on the 45 records; I had read it recently somewhere but wanted to double check:). For rally outstanding music I think one can live with frequently changing the sides, such as Time Out or Beethoven's Fifth.

P. S. Some sites also advertise 210 gm LPs.
