Vinyl I am listening to...

Hi Friends,
Hello to All! I joined this fantastic forum today. I am located at Mumbai, 63 years old and love vinyl. Want to be in touch with vinyl lovers.
By the way, I am what people call as "Technologically Challenged Person" hence pardon me if I goof up some where.
Best regards

Welcome to the forum.

You will find lots of vinyl loverds here.

I am fond of Indian Classical music and old Hindi film songs. Also a K L Saigal fan, have around 10 LPs of Saigal Saheb and practically listen to one of them daily. I am not into Western music at all. Any K L Saigal's fans around?

After ages, I cleaned a bunch of records today - a couple of Klemperers (Beethoven, EMI Remastered, Germany), Segovia (Granada, Decca USA), William Gomez (A Guitar Recital, Ace of Diamonds Records - Decca, London), Julian Bream (Classic Guitar, RCA Red Seal, London), Rudolf Serkin-George Szell (Brahms, Columbia Masterworks, New York), Oscar Peterson (Motions and Emotions, MPS Records - BASF, Germany), and Dave Grusin-Don Grusin (Sticks and Stones, GRP Records USA).

PS: in case someone here is a BIG fan of Engelbert Humperdinck, a (Mumbai) seller has a huge bunch of them in fine shape. Seems to have come from the collection of a die-hard Humperdinck fan:)

Coincidentally, took out one of my Humperdinck LPs and played them. Its a Decca label, released by the Gramaphone Company of India Ltd. What a wonderful pressing it truly is, despite being Indian. Wonderful dynamic range and that too, for a 1967 LP.

This is the listening for this morning. Baccara is a Spanish band of 70s quite popular in Europe & Japan. Their number Yes Sir, I can Boogie, was an all time favorite.

His name is Gerry Dawsy and he has sung at St.Andrew's Auditorium, Bandra, Mumbai

Partly right.. His name is Arnold George Dorsey, and during his initial career days, he shortened it to Gerry Dorsey.

He was born Arnold George Dorsey on 2 May 1936 at Royapuram, Madras, the son of Mervyn Dorsey of the Port Trust and his wife Olive. As well as Arnolds baptism record from St. Mary's Cathedral in Madras, the India Office Records has a birth registration for him. It is quite unusual for there to be both birth and baptism entries since birth registration was never a legal requirement in India during the Raj.

He actually performed under his original name but was not successful, things changed when he adopted the more spectular name - Englebert Humperdinck, after the german composer of operas like Hansel and Gretel.

The bold underlined album turned out to be a real gem. I especially like his rendition of the track Juex Interdits (the one linked here is of course is not by William Gomez)
