Vinyl I am listening to...

easy, easy..

Cal is the best place to find obscured albums, but not for their quality. Most of them were run on ceramic carts with deep grooves.

but i love them for giving us a chance to listen to strange unheard music.. you would find strange collections of LPs telling Hans Christian Andersons stories issues by BBC or finest propaganda Lps of Orchestra of Bach or William shakesphere narration in monos..

These LPs , though not delivered a good quality Hi-Fi listening, they indeed introduced us to a wide , rather extra wide spectrum of music genre..

Thats what I loved and enjoyed about hunting vinyls in Kolkata compared to dischogs.

Interesting. I see that you're from Bangalore. So even here you buy LPs locally? The only shops I've managed to find are a couple on Avenue Road (Seethaphone Company and Balaji Antiques). Know any other places?

Couple of other places will be Antique Palace but with exuberant prices, not worth at all. Then you can visit Habitat on Church Street and here you may get stuff to your listening taste of Hard Rock.

Apart from the above Imm not aware of anything else. Me never bought a single LP from any of these guys.

Cheers...

I heard about Seetha Phone, but not ventured to buy from Blore. I think, I should give it a try.. From what I understood here is, Blore Lps are bit expensive.

Yesterday was one of the longest spinning session, in the recent past. From 5:00PM to 12 midnight non stop.

It's a 1973 Virgin release (V2001) - I guess "Tubular Bells" was the first album released by Virgin label, though the album was released earlier by an independent label.

I went to Seethaphone this previous weekend. Apparently some guy from Kerala came last month and hoarded some 150 LPs :P So the ones that i got to see were all in PATHETIC condition! LPs stacked one on top of the other. The way the guy was handling them gave me the creeps!

I managed to find just one good (one that my mother wanted) in decent condition.

I'm not sure how expensive Blr is in terms of LPs..I got this one for 100/-. The ones at Balaji Antiques are costly though..Averaging around 900-1000 (the good condition ones).

Oh yes I'm very much aware about the history behind that album! :)

I read an article in the newspaper about Habitat on church street. That shop has shut down.

Limewire,
Is that copy of the Beatles 'Yesterday and Today' a paste-over Butcher cover (2nd state) ? The pic you posted seems to indicate so, tho' only a clear visual inspection could confirm it.

@wlg
Since this album was political in nature (in support of Sandinistas), KK was damned by all critics at the time of its release. Recently, I read a review applauding the album, as his views expressed in it were still relevant to our times.

OT: A gentleman from whom I had bought a bunch of LPs, is helping his friend sell his collection of Jazz and Rock records. He is based in Powai. If interested, please PM me and I shall share the email ID of this guy with you.

Due to ignorance, I missed out on a chance to get hold of Gram Parsons LPs GP and Grievous Angel in the past. Later I heard EHs track Two more bottles of wine (one of the songs from the album that you mentioned) for the first time, and was captivated by her voice. It was very difficult to get hold of EH LPs then - I dont know whether any local record companies released her music - however, I have one sample LP locally released by WEA that has the track Two more bottles of wine. I am attaching the image of the sample LP.

@ Paul

I do have this Electra LP too. The NOT FOR SALE stamp would add some collectors value to this, I think.
