.........................

Herb Alpert is my favorite too.........'The Lonely Bull' being my entry no. Lata M and Mukesh's duet 'Kahin Karti Hogi' from the film 'phir kab milogi' is based on this tune.

Apart from that 'taste of honey' & 'what now my love' are also very special(of course I like all of his renditions).

Try his 'Herb Alpert live at Montreux' on YouTube.

You bet Bhaskar. Some lovely art along with some lovely music on Vinyl. They actually make good posters as well :)

I simply love Vinyl and for what it can produce. Vinyl definitely Rocks....

Keep spinnin.....

For those who love record cover art check this link LPCover Lover | The Worlds Greatest LP Album Covers, 45?s too

Though Indian records, in general, lacked high quality cover art, some of them were really good. Do you remember any of those?

Had gone to Chennai last week. Came back yesterday. Found 2 big boxes waiting for me! :licklips: Here are a few out of those that I'll be listening to tonight!

The first Japanese pressing (on vinyl) in my collection! :) A classic by Tangerine Dream!

A holy grail in my collection! :yahoo:

I bought a bunch of used LPs from the US. All western classical. After my recent TT setup, playing them one by one. Around 1 in 3 are bad. But the rest are true gems. Putting up some pictures here. These are not taken by me, but all obtained from somewhere in the internet.

Here's the first one:

This is a 4 LP set. Bought it for $6. They are in very good condition. So, I consider this a steal.

Hi rueben,

Slightly off topic:

I heard a Music cassette during my school days called"Solid Rock" containing the tracks :

1. You sexy thing,
2. One and One is two,
3. Hey fattie bum bum,
4. Summer time blues,

If any body can give any leads to that album, I will be very grateful, I could get only some tracks (S.No. 1 & 3)on Vinyl.

Thanks in advance.

Sure Murali, let me check my catalogue tonight and shall get back to you. It may be difficult as back in those days, lots of cassettes came out which were non-standard compilations. The usual trick was for cassette companies (and pirates) to put 3 or 4 hit songs with some ordinary ones in best-hits casssettes and sell them. Let me check though. Thanks.

@ANILKUMAR - Now that's a band not many have heard of. I have a few of their tapes that my parents bought from their travels abroad in the 70s.

Well, in our part of the world there were only 3 bands known by the common man through the mid-to-late 70s and very early 80s. In order of popularity, there were:

1) Boney M
2) ABBA
3) Osibisa

People were so crazy after Osibisa, we also had about 7 or 8 Osibisa tapes at home. Not sure what happened to them.
