Vinyl I am listening to...

Until I saw this Led Zep cover in detail, I never knew an Indian-origin by name Viram Jasani played for Tabla for them.

Viram was born in Kenya. Black Mountain Side is a very special song to me. My uncle (who's a very good tabla player) literally forced me learn this song on guitar when I'd just started learning. It's a pretty tough song for a beginner but the day i learnt it and played along with my uncle..it felt great!

Tubular Bells is another fav of mine!

So, things more than our real names are similar!

I am also searching for, the Tamil Lp 'MANNIPPU', Jaishankar, laxmi acted. That mesmerizing song " NEE ENGE" is my all time favorite.Brings back my school time memories.;)

Nice song.
I think "Nee Enge" song comes in the movie more than 3 times with 3 different tunes. Mr. Subbaiah Naidu (Guru of MSV) gave the music.

King Crimson is the ultimate Progressive Rock Act. For me, the line-up that recorded the three albums, DISCIPLINE, BEAT & THREE OF A PERFECT PAIR between 1981-1984, was the favourite one. They sounded somewhere between Peter Gabriel-Talking Heads-Bowie-Police. I have all these three records released between 1981-84 - BEAT is a Japanese pressing (EG records-released by POLODOR Japan) & the other two are of US releases (EG records-Warner Brothers).

I guess you're quite a hardcore Crimson fan since you enjoy these 3 albums (2 of which in my opinion are far from their best works)..Three of A Perfect Pair is pretty solid with some interesting songs like Sleepless and the title track, but overall i found it inconsistent. Beat I just listened to once (long ago) and I din't like the vibe. Maybe now that you've mentioned them I'll give them another try. However Discipline is in my top 3-4 KC records (Tony Levin's a major highlight there)!

What about the pre-1975 King Crimson era? Do you have any of those albums?

Indeed, I had In the Court of Crimson King & Lizard that I bought for around Rs.90/- each (both imported initial editions). However, I gifted these LPs to a friend of mine who appreciated that era of KCs music more than me. I never knew these LPs would become collectors items on a later date.

I would not call myself a hardcore fan of KC. However, I was always fascinated with the kind of abstract sounds they created along with intriguing lyrics.

I have got Reckless here in South Korea for 5000 won (~280 Rs.). It is in excellent condition. I have found many LP shops here and would visit again. They have tons of LPs.
I have bought some 10 albums here including Dangerous from Michael Jackson (2 LP Set).

May i ask where you got those KC records for 90 bucks? :) India or abroad? My dad got me a few Crimson records from Edinburgh and none of them were less than 5 pounds!

This album has one of my childhood and ever favorite song

"Lemon tree very pretty... "

When I was just a lad of ten, my father said to me,
"Come here and take a lesson from the lovely lemon tree."
"Don't put your faith in love, my boy", my father said to me,
"I fear you'll find that love is like the lovely lemon tree."

Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.

One day beneath the lemon tree, my love and I did lie
A girl so sweet that when she smiled the stars rose in the sky.
We passed that summer lost in love beneath the lemon tree
The music of her laughter hid my father's words from me:

Lemon tree very pretty ......

One day she left without a word. She took away the sun.
And in the dark she left behind, I knew what she had done.
She'd left me for another, it's a common tale but true.
A sadder man but wiser now I sing these words to you:

I'm talking about early 80s - for the later three KC albums I paid between Rs.150-Rs.200 each during late 80s. I never bought a single LP since early 90s. My vinyl collection is 20+ years old. I used to buy imported LPs from a local vendor, who used get them from foreign Counsulate employees & locals migrating abroad - on many occasions I got sealed ones too!

@ musicbee
Ive 2 Rumours Lps - I guess both were 77 US releases. The matrix no. on side-one of the LPs are BSK-1-3010 JW11 F57 & BSK-1-3010 LW7 F35 (both have MASTERED BY CAPITOL stamped on it). However, one could see differences in the texture of both the covers - one has a definite grainy feel and the other pretty smooth & the address line on the reverse-side bottom of the cover too is different (one is grey and the other black) - both come with the same lyrics-cum-poster.
