Price is around 20k so if we take the discount it should cost around 10k. Good enough offer with an effective cost of paying for a Smart TV capable BR player.

So best combo for 51D550 as you could use all the TV settings including 2D to 3D, 10p WB, etc. when BR is used for Smart TV, Skype, etc. So its actually better. Also, for listening to music as I understood from last year's C6900 its excellent for MP3 playback. So we could switch off the TV with BRP connected to the AVR :)

My pc is connected with the dvi-vga converter and the plasma on hdmi. Ive tried changing it to 800x600 and rebooting, I think the tv was connected at the time. But to no avail.

There is no dual monitor option, when I go to the graphics properties it shows only single display. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Ideally you should set the display output to 1080p. and boot only with the plasma connected. Try 720p and boot with plasma only connected.

I think the connection as made by you will not work. Try the following instead:

1. connect the TV and the PC through a HDMI - HDMI cable.
2. connect through a VGA to VGA cable
3. You can connect in the reverse4 direction - i.e. VGA on PC to HDMI on TV

All these should work. so pls try it out. Again if it is a laptop you need to enable dual monitor or presentation mode for the o/p to occur.

Save Rs. 10,000 on 3D Combo Pack worth Rs. 29,195 with purchase of Samsung Smart TVs.
The pack consist of 3D BD Player with HDMI cable worth Rs. 12,900, Two 3D glasses worth Rs. 9,800, one 3D BluRay Movie Title and five BluRay Movies worth Rs. 6,495.

So you are getting it for 20K and not 10K!! :)

Have tried that. The issue is the pc does not recognize the tv as a monitor

But i have connected it through hdmi-hdmi cable.

But you have stated that you have used DVI-VGA converter. I assume that you have connected the VGA to the PC and converts to DVI and are using a DVI to HDMI connector ?

If you are using a HDMI-HDMI then look in your graphics card settings to enable the HDMI o/p of the pc.

Could it be a problem of the display adapter/settings on laptop? Would it be possible to check connectivity using another laptop?
Or connect this laptop to another display in similar manner?
Especially since you see only one output device in adapter settings when you have in fact connected two.

For PN51D550, there is review/detailed pictures available on this link: Connectivity - Samsung PN51D550 3D Plasma HDTV Review

Not sure what the exact differences are between PS51D550 vs. PN51D550. Some indicate it is same TV targetted at different countries. Abhi has also provided some info at http://www.hifivision.com/television/17478-2011-samsung-plasma-3d-ps51d550-27.html#post248953

sorry guys.. Very bad news. After working for 4-5 hours it developed a Black Vertical band on right half of the screen. Called up a samsung engineer and he told me that the tv would be replaced in 8-10 days. My Bad luck. will upload pics of the band today.. ;'(

Hi, Did you get the replacement ?

Are plasma more suceptible to damage? I am hearing a few negative experiences lately.

Not sure about that, but atleast in samsung, 2 of the samsung engineers saw my defective plasma and said yes plasmas are more prone to defects/damages and LED tvs have the least problems. Also according to them this particular samsung plasma model doesnt have over voltage protection which their LED range of tvs have so its cheaper as well. :o

It seems they are, unfortunately :( As the screen is made of glass, (like CRT TV). I had a 46C750 last year which had the metal back dent from top to bottom, but it was working perfectly fine even after that. Now talking of Manit's TV, I don't see ANY dent on the TV and still the glass broke so that seems to be most fragile component which is usually not the case in LCD TVs.

Hi,

If the screen cracks due to some reason during the warranty period, does it get coveered under the warranty terms and will Samsung replace the TV?

Only till installation (Samsung only covers initial transit damage). After that, it should not get cracked even when hot.

Thanks Prankey...Suppose the screen develops some abnormal things like black vertical bands etc, will the Samsing's warranty covers that and will they replace the TV, if it is within the warranty period?

I mean, What are the other things covered for which Smasung will give a replacement?

Thanks

Which model, is the same samsung PS51D550 ?

Even I would like to play retro 3D Anaglyph on 3D TVs, however they are not yet able to convert them to 3D TV format (like other 3D formats like SBS, TB, Interlaced). None of the current 3D TV can decode Anaglyph 3D and you would need those cheap Anaglyph 3D glass (Red - Cyan) to see them even on a 3D TV.

Well as per my understanding the anaglyph content does not need to be converted and can even be viewed on standard 2D TVs. To see the 3D effect you need to have the red cyan glasses. You download a sample and let us know if it is any different.

Thanks

That is the reason I suggested a way to convert to Frame Sequential 3D as it would reduce the ghosting seen through Red Cyan glasses (I currently use and enjoy). Please go through my post again, I said the same thing :)
