2011 Samsung Plasma 3D PS51D550

there is no break in period, as image retention is no more, but
i advice to
1. keep settings less than half of total value e.g. brightness- 50/100, color -40/100 etc...
2. dont manual tune the tv channels
3.keep extra settings like dynamic contrast/ color options , minimal or off
4. keep changing pictures . i.e no still images/ pc desktop/ any high white(bright) pictures..
5. keep 16:9/ zoom to minimize the black bars at top/ bottom. better avoid it by zooming
6. use remote to switch on/ off, never direct off.
i would advise to do this for a week/ approximately 48- 60 hours viewing.
i did for lg tv and got a beautiful picture.. no one told to do, but
like how we set engine in two wheelers i tried this out and got results.
planning to do on my samsung also...
i also recommend to change picture mode from custom to standard every 2/ 3 hours of view, this tuned my lg tv better and got good colour results..

Thank you so much....

I got my TV delivered at home yesterday evening. Samsung guy will come on Monday to wall mount it.

The showroom person fixed it on the desktop stand temporarily, but the sad part is that I have not succeeded to switch on my TV till now. The reason is that the 16 Amp power plug which has come with the TV is not matching with my 5Amp plug point in my living room....I'm now waiting for my electrician to come and resolve the problem...Hope I would be able to switch it on by end of day today:-)

Thanks

Use a surge protector(spike guard) which supports the 16 Amp power plug, dat can resolve your issue widout making any changes to your Switchboard. Works good for me on my 51D550!! Cheers!!
BTW Congrats for your new purchase :)

Last night, I was trying to calibrate my tv PS51D550. By mistake I changed the Type to somethings else in service menu. Later on converted back to 51DFHcD. But I am not sure if it is correct. Can someone check the Type in their TV & confirm.

When I changed the Model to D7000 my USB connection stopped functioning. I have read about HDMI issue when you change the model to D7000 but not about USB. Did any of you face this & any way I can make it functional keeping the model D7000.

Hi guys,

A sad thing happened to my TV...From second day onwards, a black vertical line of hair line thickness started appearing on my TV at almost quarter of the screen size from the right.
The samsung service engineer inspected and said it is a panel problem and told me that the TV would be replaced as soon as possible...

Otherwise the TV is awesome.....

Thanks

Hi,
Of late I have been hearing a lot of these cases about this TV.My worry is ,it is kind of ok if these panel problems occur within warranty. But if the same occurs after that ? I have heard the panel itself costs ~40K.
>So, is the model defective or anything? And a huge risk at 63 k?
>Is there any extended warranty available?

Hope somebody knowledgeable answers  I have now become ambiguous about this TV in spite of all it's great features. :indifferent14:

best dont buy any tv....if u want 2 be 101% safe!......
Not only this tv, but No tv today would last like ur dad's old crt of the 1980's which would just go on & .... on!
i have also brought the 51d550 & mayb i have also taken a gamble & lot of risk...but who knows?.

* Plasma tv's r more prone to failures mostly due to faulty transportation & i presume cases of failure of most pdp's here r mainly on this ground !

Hi all

Is there any news that Samsung will also launch their 6500 and the 7000 series plasma's in India this year ?

Where can i get D550 for cheapest price in Bangalore. Everywhere i have inquired they quote 75k till now. Please Help me. I dont want to simply pay extra.

Is this panel any more reflective than say LG pq60 and the likes ? I ask this because I was unable to locate a single display unit of this TV.
Does anyone know where they have kept this one for Display in bangalore?

Thanks!

@jayan @indiglo - I was given the offer by the dealer Croma
@MadhavK8 - If u r in Bangalore why dont u contact our member Prankey
@allajunaki - Appears slight reflective but haven't yet got the delivery to give full details. Displays of the TV are avbl at their brandshop call the helpline and find out.

is the Samsung 51D550 in the same league as the Panasonic V20 ?

Or is it more of a competition to the Panasonic X and U series ?

^if Not in the same league, but pretty close by(& if u hack & unlock the 10 pt. pro calibration, then u will surely find what a diamond u got & u didn't know) There r some reflection but if u can control ur room lighting ,then u can be rest assured, this is the Best tv,u can currently buy....particularly at the unbelievable price u can get, for such a BIG Tv,....more so when u look at the ridiculously high prices the panasonic r selling!
