2011 Samsung Plasma 3D PS51D550

I suggest you try a game on PS3 trying 1080p FS 24Hz to see if that works fine with the cheap cable and 51D550.

tried every game i have but whenever i load a game the tv automatically turns in 60hz but when i play Blu-ray video disc it converts into 1080/24hz any suggestions

Showroom where I saw it, it had no sunlight. Normal showroom bright lights and it was still as dark like that in the picture.
You should check it in one of the samsung plazas. :)
I did in July, I was equally impressed. Just don't like the quad stand, thats the only complaint I have for that TV before buying and after - Filter peeling off issue!

If you got those Shrek 3D titles, you could try one of them to check. I haven't used PS3 but am aware that not all games support Full HD 3D from PS3.

ps3 hardware is more than 5 years old and it does not have required power to do full hd gaming even in 2d. Most games render is 720p or 900p but you wont notice it because the tv upscales it. Even crysis 2 rendered at around 1024x720 and then scaled.

Then I think PS3 is doing the upscaling as I believe it would still output at 1080p as such non standard resolutions are usually not supported by HDMI or TV.

HDMI cables are as dumb as any other cable. It has no idea what resolution it is carrying and therefore there are no specific resolutions that it will or will not pass. What is limited, is the bandwith capacity of the cable, which will differ from one HDMI cable to another, depending on manufacturing specifications. Simply put, a cable may carry 1920x1080 24p, 24 bit color signals. But it may not carry 1920x1080 60p, 32 bit color signals. Add 3D to the equation and it gets further complicated. The TV on the other hand, quite rightly will generally not support non standard resolutions.

I was talking of generally supported resolution through HDMI. Like till date max resolution is restricted to 1920x1080p at 60 or 75Hz (75Hz is usually non standard and not supported). HDMI 1.4a also restricts to the same resolution though in a frame sequential manner.

That is what I was referring to that usually HDMI connected TVs do not support non standard resolution.

I bought it for 66K on Sep 23rd in Samsung plaza, Hyderabad. They even gave 2 free 3D glasses as part of Diwali offer. Everything about this TV is great except the slightly sloe interface. I have set it up with a Onkyo 3400 and PS3

Hi All

I just purchased a PS51D550

And watching Man V Wild last night, I noticed some of these brightness pops

I have no buzzing or anything, is it worth replacing the TV for a new one, or do all of the Tv's suffer this?

Any way to fix this, also whats the best settings to calibrate this is my first HD TV

Thanks

Hello guys,

Here are my default settings ( untouched ), EU model, last 1026 firmware.

The WB values in the first picture seems strange to me( HDMI ), on my set the picture is a little bit too red IMO.

Can someone with the same model verify his defaults settings to compare ?

Thanks in advance.

You may not be used to the reddish tint of 6500k color temperature like I was initially. Just wait for few days and you would like blue tint free images with good green, cyan, orange and yellows especially after a good calibration.
