It should. Samsung has BEST USB playback support across all Branded TVs!That's Great!
Is there any size limit ? 1TB or 2TB ?
Hello friends.
I just got the PS52D550. after reading some reviews, i attempted to update the firmware and i was totally unable to do it. few methods i tried:
1) connected a network cable from router to tv, set up the connection. and then i went to the firmware update and clicked via online. it came up with no update available.
2) i tried the usb method. downloaded the version1026. transferred the file into a thumbdrive, unzipped it in there. then plug in onto my tv and went to the firmware update and click via usb this time. it came up with no update files.
I'm really not sure what am i doin wrong. Pls help. this has been driving me crazy for 2 days now.
The file is an exe...is it required to unzip ?
PS52D550?
or
PS51D550
yup. i did the unzip in the thumbdrive itself. it place a folder in it.
Try without unzipping since it's an exe in itself...maybe TV will do the job itself.
actually i tried that as well. no luck. i've pretty much exhausted all my resources. now i turn to this forum.
it bloody worked..
but the firmware from malaysian samsung site in v1020.
so that's a bummer. is there any way to get the latest firmware? it's annoying.
Samsung TV firmware updates are country specific and will not work if you try other country ones. There might be a way to push them on other country models, however if you check closely there might be some feature changes as per different countries. So even if we are able to push it somehow, we don't know how it will behave. So as of now we are supposed to be sticking to country specific versions only.
India also has similar version and may be lagging behind the UK versions. But again, we really don't have a choice unless someone cracks it (renaming the file names as per local model name may help, try at your own risk ).
So, We're just supposed to sit and relax when the other countries keep on getting updates...it was 1025 couple weeks earlier in UK now it's 1026
Yes, it does upto DTS core! AAC audio wont be converted to DD or DTS, so you would be left with 2 channel PCM for AAC (if its originally multichannel 5.1). I believe only Samsung supports it as I read from LG's manual that it only support DD tracks.Hi,
Does the optical out of PS51D550 pass 5.1 channel audio, if I connect it to any AVR's optical input(e.g.:- Onkyo 3400). ?
I wanted to play my movies in my Hard Disk by connecting it to the TV's USB port...
I heard that PS51D550 does not support ARC, is it right? I think if it does not support ARC, then optical out is the only way...
Kindly suggest...
Thanks a lot in advance...
ARC is also not very useful as its usually restricted to 2 channel PCM audio only on all of these TVs.
