Hi !

Thank you very much for the pictures.

Ou SM WB settings are clearly differents, I don't understand why ?
I found several SM images over the net, no one as the same settings, so I don't know what to do...

It could be the result of Samsung doing calibration at the factory. Should not worry much on that. Just ensure that you keep screen shots like this online before tweaking anything!

Can anyone say how much price I should accept if I wanna buy the D550 on EMI basis ?

Max of 63k with 2x glasses (same as what I have for Bangalore - one of the member has got it for 62k with 2x glasses from Calcutta). EMI or not, price should remain the same. Dealer usually bill it for 75k only.

From what I have read, this Samsung plays 3D in the SBS, Top/Bottom and Frame Packed formats...that is, there is no support for Frame sequential 3D in the TV.

My question is does that mean one cannot watch Frame sequential at all ?? even with say a compatible BD Player ?

Also, right now where is Frame sequential 3D used ?

I used to think that 3D BD use Frame sequential, if that's the case, the TV would be a waste, wouldn't it ?

Samsung plays all supports all supported 3D formats in HDMI 1.4a specification which includes frame sequential :)

You can use any 3D BD player and it will work fine with 51D550. Also sbs and top bottom 3d will also work out of usb also.

I need some help from experts here and I have two questions:
When i connect the TV with Computer through HDMI cable which is 3d enabled i see millions of very small red and green particles, which are visible only from a distance of one feet or so, they are many when bacground is black however i cant see them on any colored background or even if i see i need to really almost pop inside the tv, my question is if this is normal or do i need to change some settings, its been 2 months now i am using this tv.

second a weird problem is that when i have this tv connected to television its display goes for a second when we switch off or on any light, fan or some other switches, but not all switches, however this problem doesn't come when we use it as TV and its only in pc connection? can anyone guess what cold be a problem??

thanks in advance

Oh, that's good but I think I read somewhere that frame sequential isn't working with the D550, did you try it yourself ?

So, in brief;

thru USB - SBS, Top/Bottom and Frame Packed.
thru Bluray - Frame Packed.

Is the frame sequential (1080p @ 60Hz/each eye) playable through USB as I don't see it in the TV's manual ?

Also, according to the manual, the maximum resolution via USB is 1080p whereas HDMI 1.4a spec says that Full SBS 3D is supported...does that mean 3840x1080p is also supported ?

Frame Packed = Frame sequential as I understand unless we are referring to SBS and Top and Bottom 3D packed in a 2D Frame.

There is nothing as "3840x1080p" as its always 1080p in each frame in a frame sequential 24Hz signal. Thats the MAX supported by HDMI 1.4a spec and the TV should support it and I have confirmed info from several members who have bought through the group buy here that it is working very well on this TV and infact ALL reviews point to the same thing and D550 is essentially one of the best 3D TV around (if not best, Panasonic and even other higher end Samsung models have issues D550 do not have).

I thought the same until I read that Frame packed is 1080p @ 24Hz whereas Frame sequential is 1080p @ 60Hz.

3840*1080 is the resolution of Full-SBS 3D, here is a sample video - biohemmet.se

I have personally played 1080p24hz 3D and 720p60hz 3D through hdmi 1.4a on D550 and it works fine.

As far as 1080p60hz 3D is concerned, it is NOT supported in hdmi 1.4a specification and hence D550 does not support it. NO 3DTV IN THE MARKET SUPPORTS 1080P60HZ 3D and even hdmi 1.4a cables will not carry such a signal.

And SBS videos with resolution upto 1080p is supported i.e both frames packed into 1920*1080. This is how 3D bluray rips are being available on torrents and it produces good enough 3D if the bit rate is 10 to 20Mbps or higher.

1080p60z 3D is only supported by dual link dvi cable on 120hz monitors with nvidia 3d vision kit !! So only way of using it is to buy a 120hz led gaming monitor(costs around 16-20k for 22inch) and then buying nvidia 3d vision kit and an nvidia high end graphics card and then you can play games and videos in 1080p60hz 3D :)

Thanks for the info I got it now.

20Mbps ?? That's quite high bit rate, what is the usual size of the movies at this bitrate ?

Avatar is 18GB, Tron Legacy 15GB and the list goes on :) But in recent past some good encodes in the range of 6 to 8Gb have started appearing but still for a good immersive 3D experience the bit rate should be as high as possible.

And for playing 3840*1080 rips on a 3dtv, you can play it using nvidia 3d vision player on PC through hdmi 1.4a by using nvidia 3dtv play software.

Does the D550 recognize external desktop hard drives...I'm planning to connect my internal hard drive through a external USB enclosure interface...would the Samsung be able to read it ?
