I have been a lurker for a long long time on this great forum even before i registered. Today i decided to make my first post on this forum.
Congratulations to Indian11 on buying a new 3d TV. I happy that he made a choice based on what he was looking for and stuck to his choice cos ultimately it is he who will be watching the TV.
Different people have different priorities and one person's ecstasy might be another person's poison. Majority of people who buy a HDTV are layman who do not have a clue about black-levels and back-light bleeding which are the two main drawbacks of modern day LED-LCDs. The back-lit LEDs like HX950 and Sharp Elite do not have the backlight bleeding issues which generally plague most LED-LCDs although the extent of it depends on the brand and the model.
The opinion on a internet forum usually differs from the external world although not always. Buying decision is usually decided by what a customer is looking for in a particular TVand also the value he sees in that purchase according to his own thinking. For a plasma guy anybody looking for a LED TV in the 50" plus range is out of his mind cos he fails to see the purchase from the said customer's perspective. For a hardcore plasma guy blacklevels and value for money are the only two parameters for a TV purchase. now i am not saying all plasma owners are like this rather i am referring to the hardcore plasma folks.
Yes i know it is hard to dispute GT50's picture quality and the deep blacks it produces but does that mean anybody who can afford it should not buy another TV? 3D might be a gimmick for many but there are people i know of people who swear by it. Some people love a frame-less thin HDTV to decorate their living rooms. As much as people might say burn is an issue of past which might be true to a certain extent image retention is still an issue and can be a put off for many. Reliability and peace of mind is another issue where LED's still have and edge imo. As you are reading this you might be thinking i am another LED fan-boy but i love the modern Panasonic plasma's and i have whole heartedly recommended people to ''consider'' them as an option in their purchase. I myself am looking for UT50 seriously for my next purchase.
Coming to the Indian11's purchase which i agree it is a tad expensive but contrary to what is being touted here it is a very good model with a dual core processor with local dimming, good contrast and more than acceptable black levels not to forget cross-talk free, non eye straining fluid 3d experience. The 2d-3d conversion works surprisingly well in certain situations but not all. Yes i have taken a demo of this TV on more than one occasion. If for take the pricing out of the equation it is a very good tv in its own right. What is important is that the buyer should see value in his purchase and that is what Indian11 has done in this case.
