Lets wait. They will definitely come down. Seems they have decided to make that as a bottom price.

Trouble is they don't have additional 3D glasses on stock (Panasonic). That is the reason they are not agreeing to give 2 glasses at 71.5k

Glasses are definitely available in stock in hyderabad.
Hypercity is giving 2 glasses for 75k and 3 for 79k with videocon HD connection.
Not sure of the videocon HD connection after Nov-1.

The U30 does not have any effective filter, nor does it have 3D.
Get the Samsung D550. It has same blacks, amazing colours and 3D. It handles SD channels good too.
Infact you can get the D490 it you are ok with it being 720p. It will retail around 55k.

Got a call from hypercity that they are trying to sellout the last piece for 75k and that no more pieces are available.

In all probability it could be a lie. Dont know for sure.

I will enquire with Panasonic Kukatpally exclusive showroom tomorrow. I am not sure what those guys will quote though.

They quoted 90k or 50V20 and 1.1L for 50VT20 last month.

They sold the last pieces of 50V20 for 60k and VT20 for 70k at Bangalore! Its the Croma folks who stomp all the stocks and have increased the cost. That is the reason I strongly recommend us all to wait for another week or so before they reduce to 65k. I have been observing consumer market since past 20 years, I fairly know now how these folks act and react to market conditions.

I do not understand one thing, why does prices vary so much in such small time intervals?? Do panasonic themselves decrease the selling price or is it the dealers?? VT20 price was more than a lakh a few months ago. So does it mean the selling price panasonic to dealers has decreased or the dealers profit has decreased?? And any idea how much profit margin the dealers have. i,.e for example what price must croma be getting 50vt20

My take on this is dealers are clearing the stocks to make way for new models. As because of non moving stocks, the money and godown space is blocked. So they clear them, and get new models. And sell the new model with good profit margin.

Exactly. They sell new models with inflated margins and as VT20 should have got phased out latest by June 2011, they had to reduce the cost to such an extent. Obviously it will hit dealer's margin as well as they anticipate quick turn around after price reduction.

Now the issue is Croma is not known for giving bottom pricing as it is usually done by other smaller multibrand shops to compete with these branded shops. Croma purchased all the quantity of VT20 and are hoping to inflate margins by not giving option for the customer to buy from other brand shops. That is the reason we have to completely stop buying till they reduce to 65k level with 2x glasses (as V20 is most probably completely phased off now so now is the turn of phasing off VT20s).

Its a good strategy and should definitely work. But few customers will be in a hurry to buy VT20 at the current Croma prices, because they might not want to miss the opportunity. Croma is definitely betting on this nature of customers.

I know. That is why they didn't agree for the low prices upfront. But if we hold back (I don't see many buying the TVs at current prices), they will certainly come down by next week or so.

1x sealed box 50V20 is currently available at 63k. Let me know if someone is interested urgently.

If only 'bluepoet06' would post a copy of his bill, we could get other Chroma outlets to match the deal. For some reason 'bluepoet06' refuses to do so. I wonder why.
I got the copy from him. Can share with you if that helps.

Panasonic india pricing is totally messed up.
They are even losing to Samsung worldwide.

Check the news below

Panasonic to cut plasma TV panel production: reports | Reuters

"Panasonic Corp will reduce plasma TV panel production and cut up to several thousand jobs, as its loss-making television unit struggles to compete with Asian rivals, domestic media reported on Thursday. Panasonic, along with domestic rivals Sony and Sharp, is struggling to compete with the likes of South Korea's Samsung Electronics."

Panasonic wanted to cash in Pioneer/KURO's borrowed tech., but failed along the way as they got the pricing wrong and hordes of problems like MLL rise, FBR and what not they have totally messed up the advantage they have over others.

Nobody wants to have floating/rising blacks, Floating brightness after spending a huge amount of over 80k-90k on Panasonic Plasma, if we want to have such problems then a Samsung is much better.

Panasonic should first improve their borrowed tech and implement it properly and stop providing customers with half-baked technologies, which leave a customer paranoid and totally unsatisfied.
