The 50VT20 story in Croma Mumbai is getting murkier. I rushed to the nearest Croma after reading the posts here about the offer. But what I got as the offer is 79999/- for Tatasky HD ( not the DVR, this one retails for 2599/-)+wireless keyboard+scratch card and 3 yrs warranty. In case of not opting for goodies, then subtract 2000/-. I managed to sneak a peek at the total quantity available as of 1815 hrs today... it is 56 ( not sure if it is just for Mumbai or pan India).

I know I am muddying the waters a bit. There is speculation that Panasonic may soon (as in a few years) exit the consumer plasma lines. This ofcourse doesn't mean that the TV will stop working, but still. Thoughts on this?

This offer is uniform across Croma stores, except that the Bombay store is confident of sales without offering the additional Toshiba 24" lcd or the 7% cash back.

The system in Croma shows stocks at three different levels
1. In store : Display & packed stocks held physically by a given store
2. Region : All Cromas in a given region, will include the display and physical stocks for all stores put together. Shows the break up model and store wise.
2(b) Region : In this case would be all Cromas in Bombay + Thane + New Bombay.
3. DC level : This is their warehouse for that given region.

Yes this is key. Panny's current glasses retail at 9K + this is more of a deal maker/breaker

Further I understand that while Sharp bought out the 'Kuro' technology and brand name etc from Pioneer, Panasonic too bought out several patents. Why spend on a technology that you are to exit in the short/medium future. BTW look out for the Sharp-Kuro panels in the near future. Eventually of course OLeds could wipe out both of the current technologies.

Look, I did say it was *speculation* and it is not like they are going to shut it down tomorrow or next month. A sort of medium term speculation. That said, I am still looking for a Plasma.

For the benefits of other friends, below are the deal details . .

Total Price - 75K. . . . This includes TV with Tata Sky HD Box (Not PVR) + 1 Glass + 1 Scratch card + Logitech Wireless Keyboard + 2Years Extended Warranty........Yesterday when i went there they were not sure about PVR or Normal HD box....but when i gone today for booking they said it will be with Normal HD box only and nothing can be done in this......I have spoken to croma manager also but he said that this is not possible......I also dont wanted to push hard for this and hence gone ahead and booked the TV.

Apart from this i am also eligible for 1000 cashback as a part of ICICI scheme....

So total cost of ownership is 74K....

Moreover, i have clearly told them that i will not accept demo piece and will only accept factory sealed box .........for which they said it will be fresh piece only .......i am also pretty sure abt this as in showroom display of this model was not available and only stock available is in their warehouse....still fingers crossed till the time delivery happens.

this model is only on the website...none of the dealers/brandshops have it (as of last weekend)...

i think this is prices around 60k...

probably panny is waiting to clear out old stock and then release it out...
