In the meantime, I have been working a little bit on crossover/linearization of the EXAR400 horn+SB audience 65CDN-T driver combo that I already have at home..
The MEH top module needs a little bit more design tweaks (+ simulations).. I am working on it bit by bit when I get time..
Anyway, here is the raw response of the driver on the horn and its linearized version for an LR4 800Hz crossover (just as an example).
For actual pairing with the 15PR400 driver, these numbers might change... Here I was just trying to tame that 15kHz titanium diaphragm break up (even though it is said that people mostly prefer it) and hear how it sounds..

Please do share details of your build...I could'nt stop myself from posting this. Iam planning on embarking on a DIY build too. But looking at the standard your goodselves have set. I would rather keep my build a secret

Boxes are getting ready for the first system configuration.
I put together a box for the 15PR400 and installed a driver in it (box has 50mm thick damping material inside at the back of the driver).
I also took some measurements of the Rosso65CDN-T and the 15PR400 in box

Next task is to make that big and heavy subwoofer box ready and integrate it to this system

Measurements of the subwoofer system
This was hard.. really really hard.. The subwoofer in box is about 40kgs in weight.. So moving it around is a nightmare..
But I did that somehow..

Inside the box is again that 50mm thick damping material behind the driver. I didn't use much since at the frequencies of concern, this material does next to nothing.. The hope was that there will be some effect like increase in apparent volume

Damping material effectiveness
The black thing lining the ring above is foam gasket material.. It holds the NERO SW800 driver magnet and keeps it there snugly..
The assembled box looks like this (kept on top of the rotating stand for measurements. Dont ask me how I did that)
And the measurements..

I love the design goals. horizontal directivity it do die for.
. quick question on the bass response, the droop in bass from around 60hz, is that part of your design goal (and/or) to compensate for the room? Because, its not as if you'd run of headroom to correct it ( more likely to run out of hearing capability with those drivers, before you run out of headroom )Edit: also there is a little wiggle coming into the way of pretty much textbook phase alignment at 1k. any insights as to what that's about?

That bass droop was a design trick..
This speaker is expected to be pushed as close as possible to the walls due to which there will be bass reinforcement, less SBIR due to a combination of placement and directivity etc..
So the subwoofer driver faces the walls (in fact 3 boundaries less than 20cm away in my room).. So while the axial response in these anechoic response graph droops down, the actual in room response is quite respectable due to boundary reinforcement.. Also reduces a lot of EQ requirements..
Here is the in-room response, 3m away from the MLP (un treated room and without any additional EQ than crossover)
