amazon.co.uk - free shipping to india

I ordered two Blu-rays on 29/11/2011:
Planet Earth: complete Blu-ray series and Alien Anthology together billed for 22.87 UK pounds. It was shipped through Deutsche Post DHL on 2/12/2012.The packet was delivered yesterday by local postman to the security gate of my apartment. The packet was later delivered to my home. I found the outer packing unsealed and one of the disk (Alien..) removed.:sad: I wrote to Amazon and they are willing to replace the missing disk.They have commented that "As the package was sent to International location we aren't able to track about the missing item, it appears the item was being removed by the carrier." The casing also does not show any delivery stamps of either the post office or any courrier except that of customs. It is apparent that the item is sent as ordinary parcel as there is no record .But I am now worried that the packet may be tinkered again by the culprit whoever may be in the channel.

Where should I lodge my complaint to prevent such pilferage in the future ?

Can somebody comment ?

This probably a job of your local postman or even your security. The problem with Amazon packing is that it can be easily opened as this probably is needed for customs to check what's inside. Not sure where you can complain about it but if you know anyone in postal deptt you can try.


First time tried USA Amazon n damn mighty pissed! For 3 blu-rays totalling $ 38.95 including regular shipping I was made to pay Rs. 1560 to some Express-it courier when the parcel arrived on my door step...What frustrated me more was in the tracking it showed Out for delivery for last 3 days and it comes today :(

When I called express it abt the charges they said they can't help it.
Should I contact US Amazon n demand refund? if yes how? where?

Well, even I had to pay 1330 Rs for my parcel and I somehow doubted that this charge was not actually by customs but by Expressit themselves to fool us. There was no receipt from Customs deptt in the package and I'm sure it's Expressit who is playing a dirty game of making money. I've already raised a complaint to Amazon regarding Express-it and they said they'ld consult with their partner for shipping, i.e. i-parcel. Do raise the complaint and tell them that you want Expressit to be removed as their courier partner in India. Amazon takes these complaints seriously and they should work on your complaint. I was also given an offer for refund of my charges but I refused as I felt it's not correct to charge Amazon for the fault of Expressit.
 
I can vouch for the extremely abysmal quality of service rendered by Express-It. Horrible and almost non-existent customer service...
 
Got my 16 dvds yesterday.. No duty charged :yahoo:

All the DVDs were packed in a carton box and the package was damaged understandably during international transit, luckily none of the DVDs are damaged..

It took 12 days to get my shipment..Not bad..

Yes. Once you checkout, the amount could be less that 25 pounds because VAT will be reduced from the final bill. So, your cart should have items worth 25 POUNDS or more including VAT but you will end up spending much less than that.
 
@grubyhalo : Totally agree with you, Express IT is one of the worst courier service i have ever seen. It surprises me that they are still in business. No one answers the call in B'lore and it takes more days for the local delivery than it takes to reach India. My last shipment is still stuck with them for 5 days , unbelievable...
 
@hellraiserpop, yeah i did use standard shipping recently. It takes somewhere between 10-15 days....you should be able to track it....did u get a tracking number? since you'r in B'lore i guess it should be with Express It , they take their own sweet time for delivery.,,
 
Anyone bought discs from Amazon US with standard shipping? How long will it take? Been 15 days now...
To Cochin it takes about 30-35 days.

No one answers the call in B'lore and it takes more days for the local delivery than it takes to reach India. My last shipment is still stuck with them for 5 days , unbelievable...

Would be good to bring the issue to Amazon's notice. Their customer service is usually very good. They may not be aware of the poor service from Express It. It would only take a minute to send them a mail in this regards. If more of us started giving feedback on their service I'm sure they would find a better courier partner

I ordered lotrEE for $50, but no tracking information available.

I recently ordered another for 18$ and only just noticed it has tracking information. Weird.

None of my 7 UK purchases have tracking information either.

I just got matrix box from amazon US. The individual disk cases look no better than roadside pirated once. Really disappointed. Let us see how is the disk quality.

Got charged 485 rupees by express-it. This is too much to handle the blu-rays.
 
Guys: One quick question. Recently I ordered Lost complete series Blu ray from Amazon UK and it reached me couple of days back. Its basically all individual blu rays in flimsy box. The packaging was not that great and when removed the box set, the outer box which holds the individual blu rays was ripped.

So today I send a feedback mail to Amazon and as always with their great customer service they dropped me a mail that they have shipped a replacement on standard delivery. They asked me return the damaged box set as well and the shipment charges will be refunded.

Has anyone return any package back to Amazon UK or US? if yes which is the best way to do it? First place do i have return it (I know cheeky)... do let me know your feedback/opinions.

When did it get dispatched? Were you able to track it?

@manny: Ask them if they have a dropoff point near where you live. Not sure if Amazon has them though. If not, it's really up to you. It's possible they might put a block on your credit card if you dont, but I really don't know.

tracking international shipments gives a daily heartache. I have stopped tracking and just erase from my mind that I have any packet coming (unless it is high value). This gives me a pleasure when I receive it :ohyeah:
I think it too about 3 weeks but I am not sure coz lot of it is erased from my mind ;)
