Aramex Shop & Ship - Get anything from US/UK Toooooo much cheaper than Borderlinx

and when adding the CC to Paypal, what should i put as the Billing Address.. the actual billing add (my bangalore address) or the Aramex US address?

If i put the Aramex address will it be able to verify the Card?

Plz throw some suggestions quickly guys...

You have to add atleast one credit card to make payments using Paypal.

Like I mentioned earlier, Paypal will not accept any US address for your indian credit card. You have to give your actual billing address. So in your case you have to give your Bangalore address. From my experience it won't accept Aramex address or any other US address. Just try it once.

Paypal verified purchase means the ebay seller will ship the items you purchased only to your credit card billing address registered with Paypal, that means to your India address.

What did you actually do?

Is it required to add my CC to PayPal account?

Yes, you need to add credit card(s) to PayPal a/c and for which you need to give your CC billing address. While purchasing from Ebay, you may give no. of addresses apart from this paypal address as your primary address (as this primary a/c of ebay is linked to your PayPal a/c). Hope i am able to clarify your doubts. Regards.

sony108,

SnS people are real good , your case is same case as mine , signature verified parcels were sent .. they claimed the parcel quickly ..i am happy with their service

@surendar & @Sachin Yes both of you are right...

This is what i did for my purchase,

I added my Indian CC with its actual billing address in Paypal and made Aramex US address as the primary shipping address in the ebay a/c (i already had an ebay.com account so used that only, people here have reported that even an ebay.in a/c works fine.)

While making payment, i was prompted to login to Paypal and choose the source of payment (your CC or you may choose one if you have multiple CCs or bank a/c registered with Paypal).
Please note,
1) i didn't verify my CC with Paypal (was not necessary immediately).
2) Since billing address and shipping address were different, it displayed the shipping address as 'unverified'. Since my seller had no condition of shipping to Paypal verified address only, i had no problem. But i think this could be a problem if your seller has this requirement, so check beforehand.

Paypal gave me 2 options, either to use Paypal conversion and charge CC in INR or to charge CC directly in USD. I chose the first option, conversion rate from Paypal was around 46.52 againt appx 45 that day. Although if you charge your CC directly in USD, your CC company will charge 3.5% markup on that amount so it comes out to be almost same as Paypal rate. And also a service charge of 10.3% on the markup amount (plz correct me if i am wrong).

I don't know why, but my CC was charged Rs45 more the amount displayed by Paypal after conversion. Anybody knows why?

Hope this helps..

US address changed,

Acc no same-
182-21 150th Avenue
Springfield Garden ,NY 11413

Anyone got email?

Yes they tweeted about this yesterday.

Even your SnS Accounts are updated with new address. Although they have asked to switch to the new address by immediate effect, it seems that the deadline for old address is July 1, 2011.

I signed up for Shopnship cause it cost just $10 as there was some scheme going. However, shopnship does not make any sense for expensive electronics.

I wanted to a order a Music Hall MMF-2.2 turn table from needle doctor. It weighs a little over 9 kilos. Shop & Ship were going to charge me Rs. 6700 for shipping (This figure is based on weight. Weight calculator available on shop n ship), 10.3% service charges on the shipping amount and 27% customs duty. For a turntable that costs Rs. 20700 in the USA, this figure was now heading towards Rs. 34000. Not worth it.

I did not know about the other costs such as Aramex service charges and customs till I called them and its a good thing I did. Going by what the website said, I thought it would just be shipping. Customs is a hit and miss but Aramex will charge 27% for a record player. They do recognize a record player and have a category for it.

Customs is charged by the Indian customs authority, not by Aramex. Aramex just pays it in our behalf and collects it back at the time of delivery. They will also provide you with the customs receipts so that you know whatever you are paying is the legitimate amount actually charged by the customs authority. You need to pay customs for any item greater then INR 10000 in terms of value.

People have suggested in this thread that for heavier items Borderlinx can be a better option. You can try quote from their website. Although you'll need CITI CC to order.

Are you sure about this Amit? I thought the limit had been raised to INR 25,000. I just want to confirm.

Thanks!

Whatever you heard is right, but in cases where you are bringing the goods yourself. When you import it through some agency, exemption limit is Rs. 10K.
Exemption limit of Rs 25K for items that you are bringing yourself is only for those whose stay in foreign land was more then 3 days. If the stay was unto 3 days, then exemption limit is just 12K.

FOR expensive goods you need to know when to buy i took tv for 46k all incl that costs still 99k here .. grabbed during year end sale
get the turntable parts wise say in 2 shipments ..parts are many times duty free, u can hide main cost like that

a reassembly should not be big issue

cost vs weight governs

for same reason import of ready made speakers becomes less profitable
while mobiles are most profitable
