Guys please reply
I have finalized Oppo DV-980H 1080p.
(I am trying to get it from UK or Bangkok)
is it region free? will it work with 220 v?
Well some of the boxes were coming with free hdmi cable and some were not.
even when i bought mine it did not come with a free hdmi cable,
Check the box, they would mention it clearly if HDMI cable is free with the player.
Guys please reply
I have finalized Oppo DV-980H 1080p Up-Converting Universal DVD Player (HDMI). only 2 queries (I am trying to get it from UK or Bangkok)
is it region free?
will it work with 220 v?
thanks in advance.
What I did was I played one dealer against another by saying that the other was also offering a free HDMI cable in the price. SO ultimately I got a free HDMI cable even though it was not mentioned in the LG DV Box.
Mr Bisen may I suggest something here if you dont mind :-
I would suggest you to go for a lo fi dvd player such as LG DV 388 / Philips 5996 . Get a WD TV and then connect both of them through your Receiver. If possible procure the WD TV from USA. Your total damages will be equal to the cost of the Oppo you are trying to procure.
Advantages :- You get playback capability of HD movies plus all regular DVD's can be played back through LG DV 388 which is region free. I am also using a Sony NS56H (Not sure of the Model Number ) and the dvd picture quality is excellent for my standards. But when I compare the LG DV and the Sony DVDP(as I have both) I find no diff , thus I suggest the cheaper LG option .
You also get full warranty support on all products so complete peace of mind !
Thanks Dear for this useful information. I request you to please suggest me will that me compatible with my sony AV receiver?
and I also have WD passport USB external drive will it be useful by any chance?
what would be the cost for that WDTV?
suggest me which DVD player is good LG or philips?
Thanks in advance
You are most welcome .
AV Receiver compatibility : Can you please let me know whether your AVR has two Digital Optical Ins or at least one of each Digital Optical/Coaxial Ins ?
If Yes , then your AVR is 100% compatible.
WD TV Cost : USA : $100 . India : Rs 6-7k
LG/Philips : Please demo this yourself in any ezone or like showrooms . The PQ is really a matter of personal taste.

The one highlighted in Bold is what we want but lets not speculate. Check the manual of the AVR to be 100% sure
I will check the manual or send to the picture of AVR. I am not able to attach some images as size is big. Can you please share you mail ID so that I can send you those details.
Pictures are not really required. Just check your manual. I am pretty sure it will have digital ins.
As for WD TV , just keep adding storage as per your needs. May I suggest a 750/1000 GB HDD to start with!
This specification is mentioned in manual only.

Great then your AVR is 100% compatible ! I can additional confirm this since I have a Sony HT DDW880 . The 885 I think has additionally a DM port with the specs basically the same.
Hello illusion
sorry for troubling you again and again
I would like to know how this WDTV works. I mean connection wise, is it like this
DVD palyer>>>>WDTV>>>AVR>>>>TV or some other way ?
I have one of my guy to bring WDTV from USA. (I Hope that will in india in terms of 220 V etc.)
Wdtv :-
Digital Optical out from WDTV to Digital Optical in of AVR for audio
Composite/HDMI to CRT/LCD for Video
so it is like :-
WDTV>>>>AVR<<<<<<DVDP - Audio
WDTV>>>>TV<<<<<<<DVDP - Video
