The prices are usually higher in the beginning but they take a dip after a while. Sony launches their TVs in mid-year and till October you will see some decline in prices.

Hi,

Precisely the reason I hurried up my decision to buy HX850. My estimate - it will be costing around 2.5 L for a 55 inch model (which was supported by couple of Sony representatives with whom I interacted during my purchase)

Thanks & Regards,

Amit

Totally agree with amit i think as w900a is going to be first flagship model with this new technology sony as we know would be looked to charge extra , while as w802a prices are comparable to currently out going model hx750 ,so i also doubt wether w900a is going to be hx850 replacement as we all thought

Agree with you shainz. Sony may want to capitalize on the new Tech, since no one else is doing it right now. Also, this year, most of their focus is on the PS4 rather than anything else. They are in need of a lot of cash right now.

But, again, I remember reading somewhere in some of the press articles that the new quantum-dots tech will lead to reduction in panel production costs. Only God knows what they are upto!!

i think i might settle for w802a model once its released or hopefully hx850 would still be available till then, as w900a looks like gonna be priced well above my budget:sad:

After a long time since the led revolution we are hearing a new technology altogether--quantum dot.
It is pleasent to hear and exciting after hearing the used jargon, edge led, full led.
Though 4k is a new technology , it could not evoke the same excitement as the quantum dot, maybe because it is only a bump up of resolution rather than a new technology as such.
Similarly, oled technology is just another led technology for me.:)

W900A will launch in May.

W802, W700 and 42 inch variants of W650/670 will launch this month end

There is a W950A as well which has monolithic design and NFC remote bundled at a slightly higher price. Not sure if India will get W950A or not.

The official prices of HX750 has come down by about 15%. Currently 55HX750 is being offered for 1.29 lacs in the showrooms. Yesterday went to three showrooms. Reliance has only the display piece. Croma don't have in display, but the price quoted at 1.299 lacs. Went to Kohinoor, they quoted a final price of 1.25 lacs. I think Sony is clearing the 1.5 lacs slot for the new W802 series. It looks like they have sufficient stocks of HX750, which needs to be cleared, which might prompted them to lower the prices. Also the competition is lowering the prices almost on an average 10% per month for last few months. LG LM7600, which was being offered at best prices of 1.7 lacs 3 months back is now around 1.3 lacs. Similarly, Pana 55ET5D, which was just under 1.5 lacs is now available under 1.2 lacs. I am strongly mulling, whether to go for the 55HX750, which seems quite lucrative as of now.

How about the price reduction of HX850 ? I know the stocks are available in Sony centres in Bangalore.

No not yet. My guess is that the W900, the replacement of HX850, will be priced higher initially may be around 1.4-1.5 lacs for 46 inch, against 1.2 lacs of HX850. So once the stock of HX850 clears out, they will reduce it by 10-20k by festive season. So no cheers for people looking at HX850 series. BTW at many places stocks are out like Reliance Digital etc.

It is advisable to wait for the reviews of the 2013 range. HX750 is a good mid-range performer as they say, but it has its own set of issues.

Was going through a w900 thread on another forum. A lot of praises are coming for the w900 and at the same time lot of criticisms for the w802. They are reporting about dull picture, poor sound, line pattern etc. on the w802.

Looks like Sony was better off with MVA based panels for the mid-range.

Agreed.

But the price performance ratio is really great for this TV. I have demoed it. Really good for HD content. Of course, for SD content it may not be so good. In fact the HD ready TVs are much better on any day for SD content. PQ of my old Sony LCD (HD ready) is any day better than the new generation HDTVs. Anyway I also think I might wait for the announcement of the new series. Also I will be away for first 2 weeks of May. Let me see how things pans out after that.

As the hd performance gets sweeter, immediately demoing sd will have even serious impact on us.:o

Rightly said.. only SD content nowadays we are hooked to are Kiddies channels, all of which are still available only in SD. And as you know they normally controls the TV more than we get to do ;) .. anyway, going forward, world will be having more HD channels, so need to upgrade.. :)
