LOL ...check the back of your computer and see if there is a port which is slightly bigger than the port you use to connect your CRT. It will be white in colour as opposed to the blue coloured D-Sub port.
DVI does not carry audio, only video. If you want to route audio to your TV use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable. One end will connect to the audio port at the back of your computer (the green coloured one) and the other end will be connected to the back of your TV (where it says AUDIO IN). And for God's sake please DO NOT connect it to the headphone jack input.
Let us know how it works out.

PS: I don't think GA-G31M-S2L has a DVI port. But it has a PCI-e slot where you can install a graphics card with direct HDMI out. Then no need to go through the jhan-jhat of HDMI to DVI converter. You can then use a standard HDMI cable.

Or better still........... get rid of your motherboard and get an XFX board. These boards come with DVI port AND HDMI port AND on-board 7.1 sound AND optical out AND cost about the same as an entry level graphics card. You can use your current motherboard as standby just in case your computer goes kaput. Motherboard is usually the first component to fail.

I hv got a cable from market which is having 15 pins like the one used to connect my old CRT monitor with both ends as same and when i connected it with my PC to TV, it worked really fine and the picture quality was very good.

But as this cable can only carry video, I was'nt able to hear any sounds and was also not able to find the wire which u hv talked about.

Can u share a picture of this 3.5mm cable, please as after that it will be easier to find it?

Yes HDMI connection plays audio on this TV.

In fact, i wanted to ask something.I use BIG-TV DTH & a Sony DVD player .Both have component out whereas the X/A20d has just one component-in.This was worrying me a lot cos i prefer both be connected for easy viewing.Any options on the same????

Had a question about connecting regular creative 2.1 speakers to the X20D. My speakers have a standard 3.5mm jack. I cant figure out where to connect them to the TV? Shredder, neoonwheels could you please guide me with this? :)

(Did look through the manual and got lost with the audio connection diagram!)

Connect the 3.5mm jack of the speaker to the headphone-in port of the TV. I think the X20D has one to the side.

Why do you have to connect this jack to the tv? For digital tv viewing connect the jack directly to the set top box. You would need a separate cable (one female stereo RCA and opposite to it two male RCA), connect it with ur STB. I did the same thing with my creative 2.1 speakers and I get a blasting sound from the speakers and subwoofer. If you connect the creative jack with the TVs earphone jack I dont think you would be able to control the volume which you can with the STB,

You will be able to control the volume on the Creative speakers via the TV remote, if you connect the jack to the TV's headphone in.

I dont know how you saying that. I have tried this with my X20 and tv volume remote does not respond to that at all. Though I am getting the sound when I am attaching the jack to the earphone socket and set the microphone volume on the tv to the maximum. I thing fang should try this and reply accordingly.

Samy is right. the headphone volume unit is a separate control that is accessible thru the settings menu.
The regular TV volume buttons in remote will not work for the headphones.

I connected the speakers to the headphone jack and had to turn up the headphone volume under settings to about 60 for it to be loud enough.

This approach works well, but it is a pain to use for regular tv watching due to having to go into a sub menu to adjust the volume.

It has drastically improved my movie watching experience though :)

Thanks Shredder and Samy for your inputs!

@fang you can use a female 3.5mm jack to RCA male and connect this to monitor out audio points at the back of the TV (leftmost column if you are standing in back of tv)
