Class D Amplifiers

Then i think your review on tonight cannot be considered.:) Probably your 2 channel may sound like a 7.1 HT.

:lol::lol::lol: :clapping:

I only hope he doesnt poke his finger into a live mains while connecting the tranny to the amp :ohyeah:

No post from the Cap'n yet. Either he has got the shock [no pun intended] of his life - due to average sound or way above average sound. Or - he's too pi**sed to tell the EI primary from the secondary. Either way, we are all waiting eagerly.

Time for all the nay sayers to be silenced by the review i mean.:D

They say Man proposes God disposes. In my case, I proposed and a thief disposed. I headed to the BSA Go cycle shop to take delivery of my cycle after servicing before heading to the club but didn't know the shocker that awaited me.

The guy made a few calls here and there and declared that my trusted workout companion of 6 months has been either stolen or delivered to a wrong guy. I was :confused::eek::annoyed::mad:

He didn't give me a chance to:argue: Politely asked for 2 days after which, I can get a new cycle. I was thinking to upgrade to a Bianchi or Cannondale but the dealer (not this one) offered me only 3.5k but now I can think of upgrade @ a lower cost.:yahoo:

Headed to Mathew's (our forum member MathewSyriac) workshop and fixed tranny. We played a few numbers and the amp was working fine. Mathew said that the gain of the amp has improved. I couldn't discern as the setup is not mine. Headed home, connected the amp and put my favourite test CD Dire Straits, Sultans of swing.

One thing that was immediately noticeable apart from the improved base response was the depth in sound stage. It is very palpable. The singer and the guitar in the foreground and the drummer by the side. The sax guy was behind. This was amazing. But since the bass response has improved considerably, the over sugary mids have recessed a bit. Overall, there is a general improvement in sound as it is more balanced now but on some tracks the bass was a little more than my liking. This is what is bothering me.

Played Alan Parsons Project Vulture Culture and Santana. Oh, it was musical bliss till 1230 A.M. Needless to say, also downed a few drinks in the process.:D

Soo sorrryy for not writing the review in the middle of the night.:p

Hope the Toroid arrives on monday atleast.:(

Don't know why photo did not upload:annoyed:

Here it is.

Hi,

Prima facie, looked like a power hub to my entrant eyes! I would love to see the tubes in focus in picture!

Nice DIY effort, Captain!:clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping:

I am currently in search of "tubes" to be used as a "pre".

Cheers!

Hi Venkat,

Those are not tubes but capacitors. On the left is the Class D Amp & on the right side is the power supply board. On the far right is the Power Transformer.

Regarding tube pre, I think Gobble is making one based on Grounded Grid design. Check with him.

Rgds

Hi Gobble!

@captain - dont know what to say! :D Somehow got confused, as was speaking to Santosh about Gobble's tube pre-amp yesterday!

@gobble - That was hilarious!:ohyeah::ohyeah::ohyeah: Very much in focus! Looks like a predominant equipment of your setup!

Cheers!

Listened to Iron Maiden, Deep Purple. Sounds sexy.

As mentioned before, this amp is great in sweetening the mids, positioning of the instruments, spot on.

The transient peaks an decay, worthy rival to tube amps.

What it lacks I find is in slam & width of sound stage.Depth is now palpable but I've not been able to expand the sound stage.:sad:

Donno if it is the speaker prob?:confused:
