Fans of Television Series

Finished Twin Peaks Season 1.

Why did I miss this all this time? I don't know. But, this is not as complex as some of Lynch's movies tend to be. It is not as demanding as Lost Highway or the even more weirder Inland Empire and Eraserhead.

It unravels in a slow manner, revealing knot after knot, complex relationships and how it's all connected to Laura Palmer in one way or another. As always, most of his female leads are easy on the eye. Every character has a unique weirdness, something that behaviorally sets them apart from how you expect normal TV characters to react. Some of them are funny - though not necessarily in the traditional sense. There's a slight dark undercurrent, but it hasn't (yet) gotten as dreamy, dark and twisted as his some of his movies tend to be. May be second season and the movie will go that way :)

Watched the first few minutes of second season before power cut interrupted. Now, that feels more like Lynch - unexpected, strange, long, dark comic sequence that only a few twisted geniuses would come up with.

There's a promising new one called Top of the Lake that's just opened. The first episode looked good and sincerely hope it wont slide downhill rapidly like Hunted, which also had an impressive opening episode.

Bonus points for being set in New Zealand which we rarely get to see on film. The misty rural countryside, big skies and lakes look damn good on a large screen!

It stars Elizabeth Moss from Mad Men, and seems uncomfortably similar to The Killing in pace, plot set up and lead character. Hope it makes it's own path as it progresses.

Elizabeth Moss...Wow !! I love her in Mad Men. Have watched 5 seasons of Mad Men and it's really a unique and engaging classic show. (Not for those who only like Thriller/Suspense drama). After watching Thriller and Mystery serials like Lost, Prison Break, Homeland; Mad Men was quite different and refreshing. Mostly character and dialogue driven show.

I am Huge Fan of Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. There new season will be premiered soon.....may be in On March 31,2013

Same here man... Everybody who watches Breaking Bad in this world ...is dying hard and desperately awaiting for its final 8 episodes to be telecast!!
Breaking Bad is awesome show... Yo.....!!

The Good Wife - Season 2 ...... Ok completed the season 2 for good wife, and I musr say it has gone from good to excellent. In season two the intricacies of the firm, its employees has increased and so has the background story of Alisha. The best thing I liked about the shows is that it does not make it look like some invincible law firm that wins almost all the time, neither does it tries to show, any idealistic approach taken by the firm, and lots of time whats they do is totally ethically wrong, and thats where the practicality of the show lies. It does not take sides, and its enjoyable to see how different characters react, adapt and contemplate this, also struggling with their personal lives........

nevertheless its safe to say this show is addictive, and I have started season 3 for now....

I am still hoping I would not have to take you out to lunch :p

^^ lol, I thought, I might start with GOT, after Good Wife season 2, but damm the good wife is addictive too, and I usually dont like watching multiple TV series simultaneously. So you have to wait till I finish The good wife, season 4.... for that lunch ....:D :D . But I have a feeling its gonna be worth a wait.

The Good Wife - Season 3 Completed season 3 for The good Wife. I see not much of updates since I completed season 2. Anyway The Good Wife. this is one show how shall I shall put it, there are hardly any TV Series that I have seen uptill now that have reached season 3 and has remained as interesting as any episode in season 1. Though I must admit in my case, only handful of TV series ran across to the length to reach season 3 or 4. Mostly its over in one or two at the max and then even though the series is screaming for a next season its terminated, for reason only known to the producers. FlashForward, Survivors (Brit show), V are perfect examples. And those which went past SE02, did not remain mush interesting atleast for me......HEROES, Prison Break, SHARK, Misfits, perfect examples for this category.

The Good Wife is the only TV Series I have seen (and I can presume I have seen enough to make that call) that has remain utmost interesting and intriguing till SE03 completion, and I have entered SE04. It has surpassed SHARK by miles. Even though the personal lives and Firms existence and survival has gained priority to an extent, writers have made sure, that the per episode cases and courtroom drama still remains interesting and tough, and quite a lot of times the loosing......... effects in such as way that it makes other aspects of the show very very interesting.

I will suggest this show a must to all those who even remotely enjoy courtroom drama and investigation........................show holding the rating 7.5/10

The Good Wife - Season 4 ........ Almost completed season 4, I mean now I am in sync th the live broadcast of the show. Have completed 18 episodes which have been aired till now, waiting for 19th. I cant believe I have seen full 4 seasons for this TC series and still carve for more ....... as I mentioned in my previous review ......"there are hardly any TV Series that I have seen uptill now that have reached season 3+ and has remained as interesting as any episode in season 1." ........
The Good Wife has surpassed my every expectations. Season 4 goes further with the intricacies of how the firm, survives the barnkrupcy and also takes few cases that have been come in to lime light in real life. That was interesting to watch. ....... given complete 4 season rating increased to 7.8/10.

The walking Dead - Season 3 ...... In between The good Wife I completed the walking dead season 3 as well, and I must say I ejoyed it as much as I did the first two. The story continues with the group starving to survive. This time they found a proper base a prision and the rntire season is almost dedicated to conserving and protecting that prision as their new safe zone. I must say the over all action in the third season is more than second, the plot initself does not move much, but its interesting none the less. What was disappointing for em was the finalay, the last eposode, that was very week, specially in comparison to season 2, where the final episode was a powerhouse .....
Anyway as a Zombie lover, looking forward to season 4.

Game Of Thrones - Season 1 ....... After The good wife and The walking dead was finished I was again with no TV series to put my hands on, after much apprehension, decided to give GOT, a try and much to ever ones surprise, I did not like it at all, ..(@shibashis I am so sorry Bro, It seems I would not be having that lunch after all .....I tried my level best to enjoy this series, but couldnt) its sooooooo slow and boring as well to an extent ....... I some how managed to continue to episode 3,4 hoping things would improve but they didnt, by mid way till episode 5 things started to shape up, and by seven the interest was developed to an extent, and the last few episodes till 9 seems to be able to successfully build the tension, but then at the end when I was expecting a good pumped up battle between Robb and the gang and king Joffery ....... specially when the last few episodes did manage to fume up the tension, ........it all went pfffffff.....pussss .... and nothing happened ..... lol........ GOT turned out to be just an average TV series for me .........6.5/10 atleast after season 1. BTW the dwarf Lanister was my fav character and did manage to made my interest hold up......

BTW :: My reason for not liking the series must also be something to do with that Medival ERA as well, somehow I dont like it, same happened with Spartacus :: Blood and Sand, in spite of so high rating I did not like it much, though I must say it was still way better then GOT.

Now I am staring a new TV series called House of Cards which seems to be more like my kinda TV series, and hope it does .....will report ...

@sam9s: I am not at all surprised to know that you didn't like GOT. I have also watched first season and 3 episodes of season 2 so far.
But my case is completely different. I have read first 3 books of R R Martin novels on which GOT is based and these books I had enjoyed pretty much few years back and always wish the fantasy come alive on screen someday. So when viewers like me saw the story on screen, that became a real pleasure.
Despite reading the books, I was not comfortable with the words spoken by characters in initial 2-3 episodes. So I watched GOT with subtitles, and there you go...at the end I also became the one who rated GOT very high.

Well... just like many others, I too watched few TV shows in past few months.

- Mad Men: watched its first 5 seasons and liked it. It was slow, yet full of twists and fifth season was the best.
- Justified: This is another crime show I am loving these days. Completed 2 seasons and Boyd Crowder is my favorite character.
- Rome: My roommate was watching this series because of his history loving nature. So I too followed the series, sometime watching occasionally and sometime friend doing the fillers in case I missed some story arc. According to my friend, great series!

Dexter: Guys, this is a great show. Me and my friend love this series. Dialogues, story, characters, sets, location, cinematography everything is prefect. This is also one of the good looking show courtesy picturesque Miami.
Have watched the series till season 3 and Dexter is gonna be father. I just can't wait to start season 4, but me and my friend have taken a little break as we are afraid the show can spoil our mindset and make us serial killer ;-)
And Debra Morgan is my favorite character in this. I love her dialogue delivery. All those F words and witty slangs...love you Debra.

After finishing above, I kept on checking what's new on TV now a days.
and then I came across a new show The Following starring Kevin Bacon (from Mystic River and A Few Good Men) and James Purefoy (I loved his dark and negative character in Rome).
I have followed the series till its latest 13th episode and this is another intriguing crime story.
The character Joe Caroll is amazing in his role who creates a cult of believers to start a new regime of crime. The cat and mouse race between Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) from FBI and Joe is quite interesting and full of twists.
FBI has never been so weak in its investigation in the history of Tv shows and it looks unfeasible as well sometimes; still I recommend this show to all action and thrill loving viewers. The Following is another action packed, pacy show.

Came back from a few weeks of travelling and started watching a new thriller series called Orphan Black. 3 episodes down and looking good so far.

Now I am staring a new TV series called House of Cards which seems to be more like my kinda TV series, and hope it does .....will report ...

Sorry Sam...I didn't mean to hijack it; but when I searched about 'House of Cards' and saw that it's starring Kevin Spacey and show's initial 2 episodes are directed by David Fincher; I didn't take a second to look forward to the show.

Now I have watched 5 episodes, I can say this is a top quality show with top quality production values.

I am not putting more words, just awaiting your review on this.

^^ wow incidently I as well got convinced, to give this show a shot by these two names only. I have completed House Of Cards first season and I enjoyed it a lot...... far more than I did GOT, :). But not as much as I did few other TV Series. After Homeland and The Good Wife I am not getting anything that is truly satisfying me or just making me hooked.

Any suggestions, I am inclined towards thrillers, any thrillers, political, crime, social, teen, whatever, love court room dramas. Mythical, fantasy, melodramatic, are certainly not my cup of tea.

How is breaking bad, thats is something still pending .....

I don't know if you guys have seen it, but 'Breaking Bad' is the best TV series by a long shot.
I've watched 'Homeland', Big Bang, How I met, Friends.. and my favourite, 'That 70's show'...

How is breaking bad, thats is something still pending .....

I have earlier written about Breaking Bad and it's awesome !!
One of the best drama with lot of black comedy and nerve breaking action when you start thinking...nothing has progressed much,.... Booooom....and it comes with top class acting of characters. What a transformation of Bryan Cranston from a Chemistry Teacher to a Drug Dealer 'Heisenberg'. (Don't worry this is not a spoiler)

If I need to rate all the shows I have watched so far (out of...Lost, Prison Break, Homeland, Mad Men, Rome, Justified, Dexter, The Following, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, House of Cards etc.)... Breaking Bad is the best according to me.

And before they start telecasting the last 8 episodes from August, I am gonna watch it again. Just because I wanna recollect all the great dialogues of Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston.

Mmmmm getting it. ...... Hope this does not turn out to be another GOT. :)

My 'rating' which is personal and quite possibly different from most others based on a vague memory of the overall 'feel' of the series is as follows. It's not 'scientific', 'accurate' or 'popular'. Just my brain fart of an opinion, so don't beat me over it! :o.

Based on collective 'feel' including how much I look forward to watching the next episode, how I generally enjoy most episodes, I'd say that at this point....

Tier I (say 9.5): The Wire

Tier II (say 9.4 -> 9.2): Breaking Bad, Justified

Tier III (8.7 - 8.0): Dexter, The Walking Dead (both constantly fluctuate from high to low, but are regular staples), Homeland (Was up there by end of S1, but has dropped slightly after Boyd Crowder and Mags talked their way up. Waiting for S3), X-Files (Only on Season 4, may drop down), Sherlock (Highly entertaining, but I am not sure it deserves higher), 24 (just for the pure adrenalin rush and nothing else)

Tier V (7.8 - 7.6): Supernatural (Share a love/hate relationship with the plot after season 5. But, I am too used to watching the brothers and Misha Collins), Fringe (Walter gets A+), Twin Peaks (would be much higher based on characters and how it stands different from all others. But, if only the second half of S2 was as 'Lynch-ist' as the last episode!)

Tier V (7.4 - 7.0): Monk (Really loved the characters though!), Castle (or as I always call it "Beckett" also starring that guy from Firefly == 45 mins of casual, brain free break every week)

Not included: CSI, CSI:NY, CSI:Miami, House (watched only here and there), Firefly (as I plan to watch it again), Spartcus: Blood and Sand (as I am yet to watch after completing Season 1). Heroes (watched only up-to Season 3. It dropped anyways after a promising start, so would be below 'em all!)

May watch: Game of Thrones (after season 3 is over), Sopranos, Deadwood, Arrested Development, Prison Break, Lost, House of Cards, Mad Men, Rome. What about Sons of Anarchy? Six Feet Under? But, first... lot of movies ;)

mmm Interesting ... I am getting the Wire as well, 9.4 on IMDB plus the plot seems like a thriller, which is one of my fav genre. I like the way you have categorized ....... mmmm let see how much do I get similar in my ratings and all ....

I dont go easy on rating so there are only handful of TV series or MOvies that touch 9 or surpass 9, few are between 8-9, few more between 7-8, rest are all below 7 ..... so here we go ...

9.0 ==== > Only two for me till now ::: HOMELAND and FIREFLY
8.0-9.0 === > Again handful only ...:::The good Wife, Jericho, Veronica Mars, HEREOS (only season 1)
7.0-8.0 ====> V, Flashforward, Survivors, Jeremiah, Dollhouse, Revenge, Twin Peaks, Misfits, Prison Break, The walking Dead, SHARK

Rest all are between 6 and 7 ...

House of Cards
Games of Throns
24
Nmbers
CSI
Fringe
Super natural
True Blood
LOST
Stargate-SG1
Sliders
Criminal Minds
CARLOS
Life on Mars
Spartacus : Blood and Sand
The day of the triffids
Threshold
Person Of Interest
Castle .....

THAT is all in total I have seen till now ......
