LG 47LA6910 LED Cinema 3D Smart HDTV Owners Thread /Reviews/Discussions!!!

Hey , Me too booked one . Can you post some unboxing pics.. I actually got one today and luckily /unluckily it came in cracked one corner of the screen , and it was promptly returned .. Besides that I felt it was not a fresh piece . I have seen few unboxing videos ( unfortunately in Thai :P) and saw that the outside box was taped with transparent LG sticker tape and also there was the Lg sticker mentioning all TV features on the left top corner of the screen.. these were missing on the set I recieved ..

@nchary: Did you you see these on the set you recieved ? Pl reply at the earliest coz I might get a replacement tomorrow and I want to cross check if its a fresh piece and not a opened & used one .

@windy_rider. I couldn't remember, whether there was a tape or not. But I'm petty much sure that, it was new piece as everything is wrapped in the original covers along with stickers so on. As well, there is NO sticker on the TV panel about features.

OK At what price did you get the 42 incher . One of my friends looking to buy too

5 months ago i brought it for 75k from TMC.
Bajaj Electronics quoted me the same. Im sure now you can get it for 73k. Try in BAJAJ ELECTRONICS they will give you accurate pricing. Well Chroma and Reliance - Stay away from them. :indifferent14:

Has any 1 noticed lots of flicker with local dimming turned on , on a very dark scene with some moving object . For e.g. Try the LG rotating cube scene you get when the Antenna input is not connected. I some how feel local dimming is not working properly .

I don't see any flicker while using local light dimming..
LG rotating cube scene - MAY BE BECAUSE IT KEEP SPINNING WHILE ENTIRE SCREEN IS DARK, YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED LITTLE FLICKER.. TRY WATCHING A VIDEO AND LET ME KNOW..

It's some times visible on very dark scenes with some illuminated parts . But best place to notice is in the rotating cube scene . The flickering appears as vertical bands flickering . Whereas local dimming should ideally darken the whole screen except for the illuminated section . .. Also noticed some bleeding from bottom right corner like some edge lit LED ..

Lg service guy promptly came in and checked the TV .He said every thing was fine and its normal to have some bleeding at the edges coz its a edge lit LED . I only hope it doesn't increase over time and becomes unbearable ..Its strange coz the screen seemed perfectly dark before it was wall mounted ..Any one has any similar expereinces with this model or equivalent models ?

Lg sevice guy also offered extended AMC for approx 8.5 K , which I feel is quite high when compared with the likes of Sony which offers 2 yrs ext-warranty for the same money . Has any one opted for AMC ?

He also showed me the smart share LG android app for wifi direct sharing . Unfortunately doesnt install on my phone. Any one knows of any alternate app or app which can mirror screen ?

Besides the above niggles the TV looks great and smart features & UI are cool.PQ looks fine too though I'm still to lay my hands on some decent HD content .Animal planet even on SD looks gr8

Cheers

I'm trying to find a low cost option to setup a proper 5.1 channel audio system with this TV . I have a 5.1 speaker system with built in Amp and analog inputs only (no SPDIF) . I dont wish to replace the speakers any time soon . It use a DVD player with HDMI output to TV, DTH set top box with HDMI output to TV and laptop with HDMI output to TV . DVD is connected to 5.1 the audio system thru analog cables . DVD player has digital coaxial output . I might upgrade DVD to blu ray , but am not keen on investing in a full fledged HT system because all of them come with speakers bundled.. Two questions .
1) Is there a low cost SPDIF to 5.1 analog converter unit . This unit preferably needs to have multiple optical and coaxial SPDIF inputs .
2) Can this TV output 5.1 audio thru its optical SPDIF ? Can I reroute 5.1 audio from all HDMI inputs to the SPDIF optical output ? My idea being I use only one SPDIF cable connecting the TV to the D/A converter .

Would appreciate inputs from members and experts .Cheers

Actually I haven't found a proper answer . I did find this link with this product Digitalbay| HDMI| HD Media player| HDMI Splitter| Digtal Bay . not sure if this is what Im looking for coz I dont see 5.1 analog outputs

LG Call center rep said that optical out can output 5.1 from media decoded on TV , like USB movies . Through HDMI he said only 2 channels are emitted so no 5.1 .May be he's right but then expert suggestion is required to solve this :)

S/PDIF = 5.1 audio depending on the decoder

HDMI = Video + 5.1 / 7.1 audio depending on the decoder

So what's your questions again ?

Your TV has this Component In (Y,Pb,Pr + Audio) so you can just connect the 5.1 speakers to it directly.

You also have 3 HDMI ports so I don't think you'll need a converter for anything.

Your TV is capable of decoding DTS, Dolby Digital so it will give you 5.1 output via S/PDIF or HDMI.

Hey .. Does this TV output audio thru composite out . I thought those are meant for input ?Manual doesnt say any thing.. My previous Sony has some funky option like that :P .
Even so what Im really looking for is a not so expensive home theater like system without the speakers and amplifier OR I want to make the TV the main hub (since it already has 3 HDMIs ) and I want to re-route 5.1 audio output thru optical spdif of TV to analog converter..Can this be done ?

LG call center rep told that HDMI audio input is 2 channel only .hence it cant output 5.1 .

I didn't understand that.

You've the TV, right ? Have you tried these things suggested by members ?

I would love to try various configurations mate . I do have the TV & the 5.1 amplifier+speaker but I would have to purchase the spdif cable / HTS & other gadgets . Hence checking b4 investing :)

If you're planning to buy a HTS, you'll get an A/V Receiver with it, which will have Optical and HDMI capability. You can stream the audio via Optical and video via HDMI. Problem solved.
