LG 50PK550R Owner's Discussion Thread

Vivek,

Ask for the branch / training manager's number. I will have Mumbai senior call him and explain the problems.

Today's update is that R&D need till Monday to come up with a solution or at least an explanation. I asked for fixes for "all" our problems.

Suggest we wait till Monday for answers.

Friends,

Sometime back I had issues with my LG washing machine service and I had to escalate. Then, I had called their global operations and my issue was resolved promptly. People at Noida office were very cooperative and followed up until I closed the issue. I have copied the link below. You may want to try contacting them and see if you get the right people to hear your problems/feedback.

LG Global Operations - LG Electronics Global

Good Luck!!

Sorry brothers i have not been online for the past few days, ran into a lot of problems, a land mafia was trying to acquire my land similar to the one's in khosla kaa ghosla, so i was very busy there and didn't have the time to come online even.

So as per LG i recieved a message yesterday, saying that they have closed my complaint under reasons that the customer will call again, i mean WT@, anyways good on you shaiju and ohers for making good efforts, i will send the complaint to the above said address as welll.

Just got a call from Bangalore LG tech head. He asked me and kind of agreed there is a problem.

Shaiju Can i share your email details with him.. he wants to talk and also get the details of the LG service guy who tried some changes and made improvements.

dotmac, thanks for the email.

The latest is they don't know when it will be fixed - what a convenient answer!

I have written once again copying many. Any further communication should be marking all aggrieved owners.

dotmac, thanks for the email.

Got a standard reply from "Shabana Saifi" asking for my address and contact details. No reply on the missing manual or missing features or any of my queries.

If you have any contact IDs of someone from LG Korea, do add them to the loop.

Expecting one of the LG manager to reply by tomorrow evening. If not, I will write a follow-up mail tomorrow evening.

Earlier post from Vivek confirms that US(or UK) model not just supports HD but also supports the MKV container. Just don't understand what pleasure LG gets by disabling those features to Indians. MKV is an open format so even a licensing fee is ruled out.

Also how about grouping with PJ series 2010 LG plasma owners? It is highly likely that they would have also got many features crippled when compared to US/UK model. Also there is a possibility that they too have the pixel dance issue.
In case they also face same issues(or a subset), we can ask them to join our forces and that would strengthen our voice. What is others opinion on this?
Will it dilute our issues or will it strengthen the voice?

On a side note..
The contemporary plasma models from Samsung (c450/c550) play HD movies (mp4, mkv) via USB port.. So you must push LG hard to add this feature.. since this is already available in foreign version of same model, just a firmware update should solve this issue..

Well, what a bad day.

I had to speak with Sameer Dhiman from VoC and it was such a painful horrible experience.

He said LG "CANNOT" fix the problems. I was promised an equivalent LCD/LED in exchange but now they are even denying that. He offered me some pathetic 42" models and one from 2009. Also said he can refund my money. Well I am not game for his lame offers. I have drained most of my sanity and free time chasing LG for past 3 weeks.

Definitely not what I expected of so called "Korean giant". Utter rubbish! Now I think it is safe for who decided to stay clear of LG and many should do so.

Shaiju,

you need to tell LG guys that you will approach the consumer court for deficiency in the product & service. This is besides sharing your experience with CNBC and other national newspapers who cover articles on consumer products.

Time to bend your finger....

While I appreciate you patience and intent to pursue your goal, I expected this day is not far away..

Think of it this way, A company is not going to change its stategy towards a COUNTRY because few of its customers are unhappy. They WILL try to brush off things under the carpet or provide you with alternate solutions which THEY feel will solve your problem.

Now, if you are questioning the stategy (of cutting features which will enhance PQ) itself, I dont know why they will take such decisions.

If you dig through my previous posts, I would have mentioned the below,

1) LG's panels have low native black level and contrast. This makes out of box PQ to be average at most.
2) They hide it by 'manipulation' by software which work to a certain extent.
3) Most indian models does NOT have this software enhancements.

All international reviewers will give you solutions through expert mode which will mostly be absent in India. This means you are struck with the problem.

Also these software enhancements are not particular to a model, they write generic code. It works great in certain models and not so good in certain other models.

Other manufacturers have panel with MUCH higher native contrast. This means lesser dependency on software and still lesser requirement for software level enhancements.

One more thing with LG is, 'demoing' and 'living with' LG TVs are two different things. You like it or hate it there is no intermedate.. And there will most probably we niggles with quality and finishing due to undercuting of competetion.

IMO, A TV is not worth losing sleep over (a girl is :D). You cant change the world or LG's stategy for that matter.
If you remember my personal advice, you can collect the money when they are still agreeing to pay and do as I told!

I know My head will roll for this post. But hey, who cares??

P.S: Next post will be my 1000th. Will not post until the content is very special.. ;) :D :ohyeah:
