If you are going for a 2009 model, LG is a NO. Thats the unanimous feedback I got last year. For 2009 model Samsung is recommended.
2010 model, LG has improved. And offers a competitive pricing.
Just in case you are scared with our complaining here in 2010 LG model, I would like to clear what is happening. We are complaining about two things.
1. What we are complaining is about the stripping of features in Indian version when compared to US/UK model. And if I am not wrong ever the leader Panasonic does this. Eg: The 2009 G10 in US had THX while Indian version didn't.
Its just that we are taking this up and asking LG to give us a fair deal.
I would encourage customers of Samsung/Panasonic owners to raise against this discrimination IN CASE they see the difference in their TV.
Note: This does not apply to extra hardware as the pricing is indeed effected. We are asking only for software features where in they will have only licensing fees and that typically they buy in bulk.
2. About Green pixels blinking at certain brightness level. If you see my previous posts I have noted that AT THIS STAGE it does not affect the PQ. It is observed only if you see the panel from up close (less than 2 ~ 3 ft). At even 5 ft. its not visible. Again it could depend on individuals. Many here could not realize it until one of us published the exact settings which makes it appear.
Why we are complaining? It is to get an explanation about this phenomenon. This does not occur when brightness is high or low. Only at certain level.
I visited a showroom to check what happens in a C10/S10. Both Panasonic have brightness from ?50 to +50. I got them put a white text on black background. When brightness set to +50, I could see a full line of green(only) pixels on the inner border of a white character. Never seen anyone complain abt that. I expected Panasonic was like perfect. Anyways thats not important. What I feel is, if you check in depth, there could be minor issues. I believe no TV could be perfect. So you need to be informed. In case the issue bothers(effects) you stay away. Its a personal decision. This TV is still a keeper for me
and I dont see a need to pay extra 10K for Samsung just for this minor issue(?). And hey thats me. Others would differ.
Already wrote too much I guess.
Sorry for the ramayana
