Hey they dumped my PK replacement today. Tomorrow the service engineer will install it. have asked them to get service remote while registering my call. In case teh guy is clueless what should I tell him what he should be doing?

Vivek, can you tell me the name of teh guy and his contact number, since My PK needs to be set up too.

Got a call from the local LG tech support. The LG engineers want to come and do some tweaking to my PK550 to resolve the green pixel issues.

@Shaiju - looks like your solution has reached Bangalore .... do let m know what all did they tinker with... since he mentioned they will take few hrs and tinker with the panel itself, by opening the set....Just hope they know what they are doing

Finally I got the delivery of 3rd set... but this time again DEAD line issue is there..

THis time it is on Right hand side... Last time it was on Left side... not sure now what to do...

Just wanted to give Headup to you guys..

When Sub Contrast or Sub Brightness is lowered or increased... What they do is, they change the default internal contrast and brightness level..

If you lower the numbers in service menu, and incresing frm Picture menu will not really make an impact.


So, basically they have lowered the internal settings, so that you ppl do not see major impact when you drive brightness to 60+

this is seriously wrong way to overcome the problem. Shame LG.

This is what happend with my first set, when I increased sub contrast to above 165, and brightness at same level, I could set contrast just at 30, and still manage to get perfect picture..

Ok.

In my case though the difference is that sub-brightness will be decreased to 115. Anyway it's elementary.

The major changes are what they managed to do internally that decreases the effect of green pixels to a good extent. I agree that after doing the adjustments the set runs on a customized mode. Also they have to "Copy" settings to all HDMI ports. Not a bright idea but a workaround for now; a full user calibration is what was expected.

So are they going to copy settings to all HDMI only or other inputs as well? Say in you connect USB, or RCA.. or componant...

This is in continuation to my earlier thread on the forum http://www.hifivision.com/television/11931-introduction-help-choose-plasma-50-inchs.html . Now I have finalised on purchasing a LG50PK550 (Im sure most of you here will agree that this is a wise decision rather than going in for a LCD)

Today i visited LG Shoppe at Indiranagar for a final discussion on price and the gentleman there offered me Rs. 65000.00. Am writing for suggestion of owners of LG50PK550 if this is a good price or Am i still paying a higher price. Pls confirm to me at the earliest as I am visiting the showroom today evening to make the downpayt.

Checked with Pai International Indiranagar, they quoted 69700/- Response from Devi International was poor, they kept passing my call, ultimately they did not quote to me. Well if 63K is the best price I will still further negotiate with LG Shopee, im sure they will oblige as we are picking up 2 units, one for home and one for my in laws : ). But if anyone here feels that it is available at a still cheaper price, pls do inform.

63k is sofar the best price we heard in bglr.. Please let us know if you find it less elsewhere in your hunt . Happy to join you in the group buy program :clapping:

Hmm, I think only HDMI. As the service menu showed only HDMI1, 2, 3 for copy.

I have a LG R&D Pune guy(same one who went to Shaiju's home in Mumbai) coming over to Bangalore for applying the fixes. And he says they will not open the panel but use software update and service remote to make some changes. Well fingers crossed and more updates by today evening.

Hey can you please send me the details of this person. I'm in BLR and I have a replacement PK550 which is about to get installed, and I'm sure the regular technicians wouldnt have any idea. Just name will do, I can find out the rest on my own.
