LG Cinema 3D LW5700, LW6500 Owner's Thread

Finally bought 42" 5700 :)!!!! Wanted the 47" but after trying out both variants in the showroom it seemed like 47 would be an overkill for my viewing distance (8ft). Am soooooooooooooooo happy :)!! Wanted this tv since sooooooo long!!!

Just one query though...can I connect any usb camera for skype or does it have to be the LG one????

Hi!
Did you buy from Letsbuy.com?
Price in Delhi?
I am also looking for the same model but little confused between
42" vs 47" ?
and
W5700 vs W6500?

pointers & help, please?

Hello!

I bought a 55"LW5700 a couple of days ago.Im trying to adjust the 3d depth on my television but i just can't seem to find the adjustment in the settings. Can someone please help me with this.Thank you...:)

Adjusting the 3d depth is only possible in 2d-->3d conversion mode
When u r using this mode, press quick menu --> 3d setting

Hi all....

1) Is local dimming option available in 5700? (it is available in 5600, and someone mentioned it can be activated in 5700 as well. Is it true?)
2) Also, does the 3d settings work on the input as well, i.e. say if I am watching a 3d youtube clip by connecting my laptop with the TV using VGA?

Local dimming is available but it is suggested to keep it low.
3D modes like sbs, o/u work for any input connected through hdmi.

I own LW6500 42" LG 3D TV. I also have Tatasky HD connection. Tatasky HD supports 7.1 surround sound and I want to make use of that. I want 7.1 speakers or 7.1 home theater system. A very few hollywood movies up to date are made , which supports 7.1 surround sound. LG LW 6500 3D TV has optical out for sound. Creative has 7.1 spakers showing on their website but even in Mumbai they are not available or out of stock ?. In Lamington road Dealers and Distributors are saying that they are not in stock , after company get manufacturing the same we will let you know. 5.1 Home theater ststems are costlier.
So l want to know the companies and model number of 7.1 speakers or home theater system and cost of the same. Also let me know decent 6.1 or 5.1 speakers or home theater system which are compactible with my TV. Please discribe in brief how to connect the spakers or home theater system to my TV and also how to connect Tatasky HD audio output to speakers or home theater system.

Tata Sky HD supports 7.1 but there is not going to be a HD channel which broadcasts 7.1 audio in the near future.
I feel 7.1 systems wont make sense unless u have a really big living/theatre room
My living room is 20ft x 15ft and I was advised to get a 5.1 system.
Look for Optical input in HTS
Hi ,

Can u please recommend a good USB Hub for LW-6500
and Wireless Dongle

Thanks
-BG

What do u want to use the usb hub for?
If it is to connect hard disk to watch movies, I'm afraid it wont work.
Hard disk needs to be connected directly

Lg AN-WF100 wifi adapter is the only one that works for this tv

Nah...got it from a LG showroom in gurgaon. Costed 1k (Costed me 75k) more than letsbuy, but since its walking distance from my place, I got it from there only.

I suggest if your viewing distance is 9ft or more, get 47 inch. My viewing distance is 7-8ft and I, and my wife, are very very happy we got 42inch instead of 47, specially when viewing 3d (specially for pop-out effects) and when viewing SD channels.

For HD content, even 47 would have been nice, but I personally feel it would have been an overkill for us.

I would suggest you check out 42 and 47 inch tvs together in a showroom from a viewing distance which matches your own. You can go to this LG showroom near IIFCO chowk, as they have a 42 and 47 inch LW5700 lined up one above the other, thus making a comparison very very easy :)!!

As for 5700 vs 6500....6500 does seem a little better but not as much as the price difference it carries. It was minimal to my eyes atleast.

Hi guys.

I've already decided that I'll buy a LG 3D. But now, the point is, I don't know which model should I choose. I explain. Here in Brazil, LW5700 and LW6500 can be found for the same price.

Which one should I choose?

Thank u very much ;)

If it is same price then better go for LW6500. All the best!

Hi,

I have got LW5700 and Yamaha RX V471 ....
Few days back I was trying the ARC mode.
I have connected HDMI out of 471 to HDMI 1 of LW5700
I enabled the ARC mode by setting it to On in the Audio settings of LW5700
similarly I did enable the ARC mode in 471.
I wanted to play a movie which was in USB stick on the LW5700 and take the Audio through 471....but the exercise failed....

Any suggestions....? any corrections I need to do....?
what is going wrong .....?

Thanks in advance ...

I think only one of the HDMI port on the tv supports ARC (HDMI-1 i think). Please check it up in the manual!

Just saw this neat trick of playing split-screen multiplayer content in full screen for both players:

Full screen-split screen with any game. - YouTube

Was just wondering, if it actually works, it can open up so many new functionalities in a 3dtv!!! Imagine, with this technology you can actually watch two separate channels (e.g with TV or set-top box sending one channel and its audio to the left side of the screen and left sound channel, while the other on the right. Now all that is required is a set of glass with only left side frame and another with only right side frame. As for the audio, the left channel and right channel sound would be sent to two separate headsets. So you would get separate 2d pictures with separate mono sound for each person!!!!

Hope what I wrote above made sense :D!

Friends,

I request your help on a very annoying issue.

Two days back I got myself a LG 47 LW6500 LED. Though the LED works quite well, but there is a major practicality problem with the wireless headphone connectivity, for which I request for suggestions.

I have been using Sennheiser RS110 Wireless Headphones on my earlier Sony EX 400 LCD and hoped to use the same on the LED now with the same ease. The receiver of the headphones has a 3.5mm Audio cable that needs to be connected to the screen. Now whenever the audio lead is connected to the screen, there is no volume from the LCD/LED speakers irrespective of whether the headphone receiver is switched on or not. This means that whenever I wanted to use the headphones, I had to insert the audio cable jack in the screens audio port everytime for using the headphones and then pull it out for normal screen speaker use. In the Sony LCD this was no problem as the audio port was conveniently located on the left side along with HDMI port(s) with obstruction free easy access.

However in the LG LED, the audio port is located behind the screen. My screen is mounted to the wall cabinet. Therefore every time I need to connect my wireless headphones I have to slide my hand behind the LED screen and struggle to connect/disconnect the headphones audio cable jack. Today I thought that I will just get a simple audio extension cable insert the jack of the extension cablein the LEDs port- let the other end (female) hang below the LED and just connect or pull out the headphone receivers audio cable as and when required. But to my shock it turns out that even when just a audio cable extension is inserted in the LED, the LED speakers stop working irrespective of whether the headphone audio cable is connected to it or not !!!

I hope I have been able to explain my problem, which might seem very trivial, but can be a pain especially when I need to connect the wireless headphones every night after my wife sleeps ?

Please can you help me out and suggest whether I can let the LEDs speakers function with the audio extension cord connected to the LED (without headphones connected)? Or whether I can use some function from the remote to control this.

Will this be a problem with all wireless headphones or is this particular to the Sennheiser only. I have a Iball wireless headphones back in my hometown (which my dad uses) and I can exchange the Sennheiserss for the Ibal,l if it will take care of the problem.

Please suggest as I am near to banging my head against the wall because of this cumbersome procedure of connecting my headphone every time which can also cause damage to the LED due to constant movement.

Thanks.

I was just researching on the internet, and I saw these cordless headphones - Iball Beat which connect via a USB stick. The LED does have a USB port on the side which can be easily accessed.

I called by Iball customer care and they mentioned that these headphones will work as far as the USB port in the LED is for 'input and output'. I then to spoke to LG services guys and they mentioned that the USB port is just for 'input' and not 'output'. But they did not seem very sure about it. Therefore the headphone might not connect.

Is this correct- the USB port provided at the side of the LED only for 'input'.

Thanks for your help but I am looking for a practical solution to this problem.

Please do let me know.

Well there 'is' an option in the service menu of the tv to record channels by connecting a USB Drive (disabled for us though). So if that feature is available in the TV, then it means that atleast one of the USB port is for Output as well. I guess you would just need to try it out. Maybe You might need to activate the recording feature to enable output using usb.

My main worry though is that wouldnt the headphones require some kind of drivers to be installed for them to function?

Maybe you can try those cheap usb sound cards to which you can connect any headphones. Something like this:

USB Sound Card 3D Virtual 5.1 Headphone / Mic Output Plug n Play No Drivers Reqd | eBay

If this works, then you can use your existing headphones as well :)!

Thanks for your suggestion Angy. The sound card seems like a good try. If that works then I can just use my existing headphones. LG should have thought about giving the audio port at the side of LED rather than behind it. Poor designing !!!

But what i do not understand is that when I connect a audio extension cable to the audio port in the LED, then the LED speakers automatically stop working - IRRESPECTIVE of whether my headphone is connected to the extension cable or not ??

I just called up a few sellers of these USB sound cards on ebay and most confirmed that these sound cards are only for laptop/computer usage and will not be detected on the LED. Stuck again ??

I just spoke to a LG technician again and he suggested that a combination of optical to stereo converter, an optical wire and an extension cable (with sides female) can help me resolve this problem. I am not sure how this work but he quoted the cost to be around 1500/-. Any suggestions or inputs on this ?

I guess its programmed to mute the volume from tv when any wire is connected to that port. Similar to what happens on some laptops.

Well, I still suggest its worth a try (will just cost you less than 150 bucks). Infact if you are near nehru place you can get it from there also, as then you would not need to wait for delivery, and infact you can get it there for 50-100 bucks.

The same adapters worked on the ps3 as well, even though every seller said it is only for pc. Here is a link where a member even confirmed it to work:
USB sound card for ps3 - PS3 NEWS - PlayStation 3 News - PS3 CFW - PS3 Hacks - PS3 JailBreak - PS3 Forums

Infact I know quite a few people who use this on their ps3 for voice chat. So I guess you should give it a try. Maybe it works....maybe it doesnt.

Thanks Angy. I will def try the USB sound card out. Will pick up from the local market near by. However in case it does not work then I will have to resort to the stereo converter - optical cable combination solution. Will you have any idea on the exact parts that I will require for this stereo converter thing or may be I just ask the LG technician to buy it fro me and I pay him (which will be much more than the market rate).

Thanks.

I suggest you go to nehru place for the converter. I had seen many types of converters there....so chances are u would get some good options there.

LG guy would obviously overcharge you, but then all the headache would be his. So u need to take ur call...whether u have the time to search it out or not.
