well im not sure if the normal 3d glasses would work on the tv or no since its the same glasses and its cheap if it work you can buy from the movie theatre thats an idea if you are looking for cheap glasses!!

I just visited Croma in Pulse mall, Nagar Road Pune. We took demo of LG 42LW5700 and 47LV3730 there. Though we did not like the 3D glass design, we liked the passive 3D. In fact, my son loved it. Croma price for 42LW5700 was 82K and for 47LV3730 it was 85K. I know, at least for 42LW5700, the price is way higher. As I read in this thread that actual buying price, 2-3 months back, is 71K-74K.

So I would like to know from you guys
1. As 42LW5700 and 47LV3730 are comparable in terms of price, should I opt for 47LV3730 as it's a larger screen? Apart from smart TV functions, does 42LW5700 have other things to justify the price (compared to 47LV3730)?
2. Now, 42LW5700 doesn't come with a scratch card as it was a Diwali offer. Also, it comes with just 4 GB memory stick with some HD songs (no 3D stuff). I was disappointed on knowing that. I told them that you are not providing me a good deal compared to what it was before. The sales man informed me that they have reduced the price from 85K to 82K. I told him that at least one forum member bought it from them during Diwali for 74K. On which he said though the price is negotiable, it's hard to believe that it was sold for 74K. I think, sandesh1978, you've bought it from them for 74K. Could you please provide me the sales person name etc. to prove that it was sold for 74K. How did you manage to bring them down from 85K to 74K? :)

sandesh1978, mahesh_jd and other friends from Pune, for how much 42LW5700 is available now? I was hoping that I should now be getting it around 70K.

Hi Guys,
I recently bought 42LW5700 , sort of happy with 2D performance but not convinced with 3D performance. I dont know whenever I play a good 3D movie using USB on my TV , i could not see the 3D view /depth which i could observe during demo . I dont know I may be missing on 3d view setting ( as part of 3d setting from menu ). can someone please suggest a good 3d content or setting

What movie are you playing??? Is it side by side 3d??

Personally, I see better depth than I saw in the showrooms!!! Specially if you play a proper 3d movie, i.e. not 2d converted to 3d!!

Thanks angynagpal .. I played IMAX under the sea- 6.7gb and avatar 3d-17gb. Both are half side by side 3d movies. Do I need to change the 3d view point ,does it make any difference

Yes it does make a difference, but not much. Its only to calibrate the 3d according to your viewing distance and preference. Anyways for all 3d modes except 2d-3d, the setting for depth is disabled.

In avatar the depth is tooo good!!! If you can't see enough depth even in avatar then I suggest you test the movie out in the showroom again and compare with your set.

PS: I wish you were in Delhi.....could have copied those 3d rips from you

I Bought LW 5700 42INCH on Jan 1st. The set is really good. But I had to make numerous calls to make it installed properly. First it was delivered only after 4 dfays , as there was not stock at the dealer. When the LG technician opened the box, he said there is no remote available . I called my dealer and the CC. The CC has numerous doubts on the non availability of remote. Their suspicion went on the dealer and the technician. One LG representative promptly delivered it after a day or two. The installation person came again informed that screws and cds also will come in that remote pack only. However, with available screws he installed it. I again made calls to the dealer and CC. After repeated calls, one pouch containing screws, CDS, instruction manuals and magic motion remote control were delivered to me. I advise to prospective buyers: wait for the technician to come and open the set, as we do not know what are all the contents . In my next message I will say on matter related to DLNA connection.

Did you buy from an official LG showroom or a third dealer? Bought mine from an official LG showroom....and the whole process was smooth like butter :-)

Hi All,

We have two 3D side by side Movie torrents available on Rarbg.com Index page each of size 13GB. They are really good with good depth. Once you paly the movie, click on 3D, then seleect the side by side images of 3rd option. then go to 3D settings, take the visible text of menu as reference point wearing 3D glasses and change the 3D view point reference until you see clear text. Then press OK. You can now enjoy the exact 3D feeling and very good depth indeed.

Transformer.3.3D.1080p.HSBS.BluRay.x264.DTS-HDChina

Pirates.Of.The.Caribbean.On.Stranger.Tides.2011.3D.SBS

One more very good site for all 3D SBS format movies, 3D Side By Side Content Movies and Games all in SBS if you have very good network speed and patience.

Thanks,
Surya

is the 3d image that the LG delivers with its passive 3d technology gives that crisp image as the other active 3d?? i heard that it doesnt give full HD 1080p picture resolution and its not crisp is that correct ??

Well....don't go by technical jargons is what I suggest and eventuality followed when I bought this tv. I relied only in what I saw.

Active for me was a total no buy......I could hardly watch 3d in it even for 10 seconds before I could start feeling the strain. Uptill then I thought 3d is just a gimmick and can never enter mainstream home cinema. Then LG introduced the passive variant....and the first time I demoed it I fell in love with it.

I have had this tv for abt a month now and I totally love it. I intact watch 3d more than 2d without having any stress whatsoever......and that's exactly how it should be with 3d.

As for the resolution, yes technically there is a huge difference....but that's all in paper. I have viewed all my 3d content in full hd....and to me the resolution was as good (I could hardly see a difference except slightly darker picture) as the 2d. Infant surprisingly in inequality or two movies, it looked more beautiful in 3d than 2d lol.

So don't go by technical jargon.....u eventually see a full hd image in 3d.

Hi all,
All this while I kept hearing that passive 3d glasses are very cheap, and that you can get them for as less as $5 etc. But where are these cheap glasses?? On ebay, the passive glasses seem damn expensive!!!! They average between 3-4k each!!!!

Where can I buy the cheaper passive 3D glasses from?

well im not sure if the normal 3d glasses would work on the tv or no since its the same glasses and its cheap if it work you can buy from the movie theatre thats an idea if you are looking for cheap glasses!!

@angynagpal, lg passive glasses cost around rs 400-500 each.
http://www.ebay.in/itm/LG-AG-F216-C...1?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item3f15f82ac5
These are a bit costly because they are imported from USA, but still less than rs 600.

According to me, the best option is to get them from ur local multiplex.
Inox is the only multiplex in my town at the moment. i find their 3d glasses of slightly better quality than the lg ones and they cost just rs 50.
INOX: Promotions

Just get one when u go to a 3d movie and try it at home.

Hi Guys,

Thanks a lot for this thread & for all the help through this wonderful forum. Much Appreciated.

Just got myself a 42LW6500 for 83K with motion remote in Delhi.

Please suggest the place to find the best deal in Delhi.

Letsbuy.com is offering 42LW5700for 74K and 42LW6500 86K. Is it OK to buy from them.

I am confused about 42LW5700 vs 42LW6500. Is it worth to pay 12-14K extra for LW6500?

please help.
