onkyo hts 3300

Hi Guys
I have a simple query
Onkyo guys provide you with rubber stoppers that need to be hooked to the speakers once you hang them on the wall.

According to them you have to put them on the bottom of the speaker.

Dont you think it should be "back" of the speaker rather then bottom?

Do let me know what you guys think.

To put the rubber stoppers on the rear comes from common sense. Take a photograph of the particular page in the manual you are referring to and post it here. I really want to see it.

Hello,

Would like to know if Onkyo HTS 3300 includes a remote control as in the onkyo india website it cannot be seen. Also if anyowner could share the product review in terms of audio quality & punch & overall.

I am looking for my first Budget Home Theatre system. It will be primarily used for watching movies, music etc.. but have plans to buy Playstation or xBox some time next year.

After reading through lots of posts, I am inclined towards Onkyo 3300 and will try to find some dealer in Pune who stocks that. I have called up a few over the weekend but everyone has either 3100/3200 or some 520x model. Can I buy 3300 after auditioning 3200, is the only difference about the Blu Ray connectivity or any other major change that would make a difference in the quality of sound ?

Also as I have a primitive CD/MP3 player only:o, I need to buy a better player also along with the HTiB. So I am a bit confused between DVD player, Blu Ray player or a Media player I am not much into downloading the movies from internet (at the moment), but sometimes I would like to do the same and who know if the setup is very engaging I might start downloading movies as well.. But will watch some rented DVDs, movies over Sky STB, and music (MP3 mainly) and home made videos of kids.. :p are the priorities.. the player also has to be under 9-10K.

Is buying a Blu Ray a wise decision knowing that there are not may BD titles and anyway I am not gonna buy these for 1K each.. :clapping:. Can I settle with a decent DVD player (~4K) or would you guys suggest to invest in BD Player, something like Sony BD370 (~9.5 K).

Another question, What all cables will I need if I need to connect my TV, Sky Box, DVD/Blu Ray to the Home Theatre and are there any cables provided with the Onkyo, DVD players ?

BTW, I have a 42" LCD of Toshiba.

TIA

HT-S3300 doesn't come with any cables to connect it to any external device. You will have to get them. It comes only with the speaker cables.
What kind of cables you require will depend on what kind of inputs your other devices have.
Post pictures of the inputs of the devices you wish to connect to the receiver and then I can suggest.

Went to AV Excellence today at DP Road. The guy is quoting 25K for Onkyo 3300 and is not ready to reduce a single penny.. :( ..

He also showed me a few HDMI cables ranging from 1800 to 2500 Rs. Are these worth the price or shall I go for the cheaper on selling for ~500 bucks ? he is ready to provide one local HDMI cable along with the package.

Do you guys think there is any more scope of haggle on price or freebies ?

Cheers

Any suggestions for the above ? And does PS2 fit somewhere in the equation ? Can it play different multimedia formats on a USB stick or SD card ? and MP3 CDs/DVDs ?

At Onkyo Sight and Sound - Chennai the last and final price quoted was 22k. He came down from 25k. Is there any other place that is offering better deal than this?

The guy here (Pune) is quoting Octroi as the culprit.. and not ready to come down from 25K... 3K difference is big for 22K deal ...

When did you buy and which outlet ? I checked Vijay Sales Baner on Sat and they had only Yamaha 292 and Yamaha 294 and he quoted 294 for 30K. Another Electronics shop quoted me 28K for Yamaha 294 n Aundh. I will call these guys again..

BTW, the guy at AV excellence gave me sufficient time and played several types of content for Demo to me.....

I will talk to him again on weekend as I am out of station for 2-3 days..

Hi guys!! I want to purchase a good htib and this thread has really got me thinking about buying onkyo-3300. But I have some noob queries. Please help!!

I have a samsung lcd which I would be using to watch movies through my laptop(via hdmi) or through an external hdd(connected into the usb socket of my tv). I dont have a dvd player and do not plan to buy a bly-ray player anytime soon:mad:. Oh and I have purchased a Tatasky HD stb recently too.

Keeping in mind my above setup is it really advisable to buy this onkyo htib?? Will I really get that perfect audio satisfaction if I use my above setup with the 3300? I heard from someone that Hdmi doesent ensure 5.1 audio output? Also I would really like to know what would be the best way to connect my laptop or hdd or my TS stb to the avr to get the maxmium bang( i.e hdmi or rca cables or optical digital or SPDIF)

The thing is I am a noob :ohyeah:when it comes to setting up a home theater and 5.1 speakre setup and would to really like some of u guys to help out:)

What kind of cables are required or what is the best way to connect other devices to an AVR will depend on what kind of input/outputs the other devices have.....isn't it? If a device doesn't have HDMI and your AVR has HDMI, is there a point in purchasing a HDMI cable to connect to that device?
You will have to supply the necessary information.
Does your laptop have digital outputs?
What kind input/outputs does your TV have?
Input/outputs of Tata Sky HD are known, you can leave that part.

Does your laptop HDMI pass audio over HDMI? If not does it have digital outputs?

My Tv has all the standard inputs(spdif, optical digital, rca, 4 hdmi) and what is this your saying about laptop hdmi passing audio over hdmi?? HDMI always carries both audio and video through a single cable. And no my laptop does not have digital audio out ports.
My main query is that which produces better sound : SPDIF(or optical digital) OR HDMI.

My bad. What I wanted to say is if the AVR HDMI has audio pass through or not? If yes, you will need separate digital outputs in your laptop.

For non HD audio its identical.

For HD audio the only option is HDMI. So no comparison in this case.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
