Panasonic UT50 (2012 model) Owners Thread

I didn't reduce brightness to 0. It was default to 0. But scroll bar of brightness is at level of 50 while it is showing value 0. If I'm trying to reduce it is showing negative values so I kept it as it is.

Oops! Sorry! I forgot that brightness settings are from -50 to +50. '0' is fine then or you may reduce it to -10 to -15, if you like.

Guys got the 50UT50 for 76 K with 2 glasses and wall mount,3 years warranty . Got it from jayanagar panny brand shop .

Guys have one URGENT Problem .

The TV was ON , I inserted 2 GB pen drive and it read everything .
I removed it when TV was ON and copied more and inserted it back ,It again read all .
I turned off TV and tuned it ON back ,the pen drive was in TV itself.
Now it is not able to recognize the pendrive .Removed and reconnected ,tried different port ,nogo. I tried a different pen drive and it works . Removed the pen drive ,before turning off ,phew ! .

I took it out and connected to computer .The pen drive is corrupted :|.I can no longer use it .The TV corrupted the pendrive.

What stablizer to use ? LED /LCD one or a different one for plasma ? .vguard ?

Congrats on your purchase.

USB drives should never be removed when powered. That is why computers have the "Safely Remove Hardware" option in the system tray.

You can use any reputed stabilizer that is rated for 450W power source.

just4kix , i think you misunderstood . The issue was the the pen drive was in slot and TV was powered ON . Please read again .

You clearly said, "I removed it when TV was ON". Inserting and removing of USB drive as well as flash memory card should always be done when TV is OFF.

Use a stabiliser rated higher than your TV. I use a 500VA APC UPS which is good for 350W. Ahead (or behind, depending on how you look at it) of this I have a 1kW Bluebird stabiliser which controls power to the inverter line.

Hmm guys ,kindly read it again .

when the TV is ON ,I can remove and put back the pen drive ,no issues .
When the TV is off ,pen drive is in slot ,when you turn ON tv , pen drive is corrupted .

Guys do you leave a pen drive inside the USB slot always or remove it before turning the TV OFF ?

just4kix , does it read everytime or only once ? . Have you connected it to HDMI or USB ?

It will take the same long time, each time. Not only that, if you switch to another source (like STB) and switch back to HDD immediately, reading begins all over again. There is no system cache or stuff that makes the computer read the disks fast.

It is recommended that you attach smaller size disks to TV - 256 GB or so, at most 512 GB.

I have a 500 GB HDD and it takes a while (2-3 mins) to read it but once done, it works like a charm... as in, no issues flipping different movies etc on the HDD.

Yes, it reads it again everytime you change the source or switch off the TV.

I have done it both ways for my UT50 - putting the pen drive in and out when the TV was ON as well as when it was OFF, I didnt face any issues... is this how it should be or am I just plain lucky that it didnt get corrupt?

Based on few posts above about the TV reading and indexing multimedia files all over again even when switching inputs, I think it can safely be concluded that the TV does not continue to read the external media (USB / flash memory card) when different input is viewed, say through HDMI, component, etc. So this TV does not multitask.

So it maybe that you removed the media while TV is ON but is displaying content from another input source. On my part I would rather be safe than sorry, so I always turn OFF the TV before removing USB HDD / flash media.

Got my 50UT50 delivered today from Panasonic brand shop kormanagala @ 76k (2 3D glasses). They said there is a printer offer and it would reach my place in 2-3 months.
Picture quality looks perfect. Need to explore more. I have a query. My place has occasional power fluctuations. Do I need a stabilizer for my TV, if so could someone please let me know which stabilizer (power rating) would be good for my 50UT50? Appreciate your quick response.

Congratulations on you new acquisition.

The TV is rated at 400W peak power. Normal power consumption would be around 260W. I am not an expert in power engineering but I think that a 600VA rated stabilizer should be good enough. I will also recommend a stabilizer with surge protector.

Great buy:clapping:. Do take care about your burn in process as Plasmas need to be cared a lot. You will get help for proper burning in/burnin calibration etc from this thread. Just go through it. Also check usage hours to be in absolute peace of mind.

Believe me this TV will amazed you like anything else.
