Panasonic UT50 (2012 model) Owners Thread

Hi everyone,
proud owner of a ut50. Any suggestion on how i can calibrate it? been 100 h running on lower contrast-brightness settings.
thanks

congrats asperstick .

Please mention the dealer and cost at which you acquired the tv .This would help current and future buyers .

Guys I have connected my Videocon D2H HD to HDMI .
The TV HDMI shows 1080P 50 HZ . My Videocon D2H when I see in settings shows 1080i 50HZ . So are they in sync ?

You will get 1080i/50Hz.

Having completed 200 hours, I tried the AVS forum caliberation files for basic settings. While I could easily adjust black level and sharpness using the caliberation patterns, I have not been lucky with white level adjustment. Even at highest contrast all bars in the white clipping video keeps flashing.

I adjusted three parameters:
1. Contrast - no conclusion (refer previous para)
2. Brightness - 12
3. Sharpness - 35
These settings done under normal mode. No other change made.

I really can't say I observed remarkable improvement in picture quality. This is understandable because:
1. Contrast has not been calibrated.
2. Colour has not been calibrated in the absence of colour filter.
3. I have not tuned off any pocture post processing like vivid colour, PNR, etc.

Would love to hear the experience of other members.

What about white balance and Gamma, have you tried those as well. I believe WB is as important as other in calibration aspect.

I did not find any test pattern for gamma caliberation, so I have not tried.

White balance adjustment allows tweaking of RGB values. So it appears to be a setting fr colour adjustment. I am not sure. In the absence of colour meter or filter I am not going to even try colour caliberation. Whenever I feel the need I will just eyeball and adjust.

There are too many variables in colour perception, the human eye is easily influenced and tricked. A few pages back I had posted three photos. If they were not put side by side you would even think they are all the same colour.

I would love to do colour caliberation. However there is cost of meter / filter and time to learn involved.

It seems like I am the only UT50 owner around here who is even trying caliberation at all. Come on guys, pease share your tips and experience.

Bit of off topic. Yesterday I tried to connect XH170 with TV through HDMI2(ARC Enabled) and tried to play some movie through USB. But no sound is coming out of the HTiB. Am I missing something here. According to Manual ARC should channel the sound back from TV to HTiB but its not happening. I have used a 1.4v HDMI cable FYR.

I am not using 3d glasses that came with 50UT50 . No one likes 3d and at the moment even I am not bothered about 3D . Should I sell the glasses or just keep it for future ?

I am getting 42UT50 for 56k (after exchange of Onida 21 CRT) and 2 3-D glasses. Is this a good price ?

this is an excellent deal - pl share details. infact last month when I was buying, I had put you few PMs and later updated this thread too.

no probls on the PM part. Lucky you, just grab it. infact I got only 1 glass. had to buy two extra @ 4900 each.

on the extended warranty part, I mailed the scanned copy of bill, warranty cards and bar-code + sr# on box to Pana helpline email. within two days, they reverted with a pdf mentioning of 1+2 yr with unique number. this process is far simpler that postage.

Guys,
I am going to book 42UT50 today. :yahoo:

Few questions:
1) After how many days does the pana guy comes for installation ?

2) What all should i expect in the plasma cardboard box (ex : TV - (of course) ,warranty card, manual, etc ) ?

3)Should i expect the box to be completely sealed or can it be opened by the dealer for verification.

4) If the box is sealed, can i open the box or let the pana guy do it.

5) Any other thing that i should ask the dealer or keep in mind while booking the plasma and while i accept the delivery.

6) Not buying the printer.

Let me know.....

I am very excited :ohyeah: and nervous :p

Thanks,
Myzus
