Panasonic VT20 Owners Thread

Having sat on the decision for quite some time contemplating whether to wait for the VT30 and how to get the 50" panel to fit in the space I finally got a 50VT20D billed last evening for myself.

The price is Rs. 65,956/- + other freebies as posted earlier.

Received a call from the Panasonic installer, the panel though is yet to be delivered. One good thing came off the call. The man confirmed that the 3 year warranty is a complete 3 year warranty covering all of the components for 36 months. In case the panel goes one gets a unit replacement and if a component goes the same is repaired or the component itself is replaced.

My thanks to avmaxfan and naimesh, I had missed out on your names in my earlier 'post of thanks'.

Ciao

woot??????:clapping::clapping:, thats with 2nd pair of glass and TSHD+ ????

No TSPVR cabling in the store room where the plasma is kept for now so slides is the only best option.

Actually the Plasma and the TSPVR have to be installed in my new home which is getting ready at the moment. Already have a 42" in my room at present can't fit the 50" into the cabinet there so little can be done leaves me no choice but to wait for the time being. My Speakers and Amp also arrive today so they will have to sit quietly for a while too... :/

LoL. I personally think this burn in bit is a little over rated. My TV has more risk from my son throwing things at it. LoL. But still, it's all for a good cause. All the best.

Would be interested to know your Audio rig. Do pm details if you can.

If they are selling it at this price, then what price must panasonic be giving it to them !! Seriously dealers in India sell TV's at sky high prices that too in the beginning months.

Compare this to amazon, best buy etc who give huge discounts on MRP right from the beginning and reduce it even more in a few months. The whole system is screwed up.

The VT20 price did not reduce nor is it this low..
Panasonic is giving buy 4 get 1 free offer for the VT20 now since it is last year model..
Dealers buy 5 pieces and sell it at 4/5 price. Even then this price is not justified. Should be the cost price of the dealer and he is giving it only to khoj as he facilitated selling around 14 TVs. ;)

So with all the posts here and a phone call from Sanjay0864 let me tell you how I got that price before all of you tear your hair out wondering what happened :D

Khoj,

great Price.. New benchmark :) Enjoy..

Anyone and every one who has bought their pdp from the EOK counter has availed of exactly the same price. Check your bills the VAT amount is clearly mentioned and all I did was to subtract it from the total and post the resulting figure which is the merchandise value net of VAT.

Merchandise value 65,956.00
Value Added Tax 8,244.00
Grand total 74,200.00

Just having some fun with you guys ;)

BTW Blasto, the numbers continue to rise with another set having been booked this afternoon.

I'm going to kill you guys!

Get your lousy, no good, makes me jealous (oh wait it's not 66k anymore :p) price talk out of here and into the price thread.

BTW, I was watching Star World HD today for about 15 minutes and when I turned off the TV I could see the logo in the corner like it was still on!

I WANT PIXEL SHIFT!

It would have been mayhem had I posted in the price thread :D

I am definitely in for the VT30 as ever since my father happened to watch the 50V20's HD performance last Sunday at the family dinner, he has been hinting to get the same panel for his room too. This, after he rejected my proposal of switching the existing 32" lcd in his room with a 40" Led/Lcd combo. This morning when he learnt that I had billed only 1 panel, he was quite disappointed. Once the break in period is done with, the 50VT20 moves to his room and I will be back on the lookout for good deals on the VT30. Never mind if I have to wait for some time, the mid aged 32" Hitachi lcd will still be an improvement over the current veteren, the 21" Trinitron crt.

I'm done with 100+ hours of running slides and another 10 hrs of zoomed viewing on my VT20.

Last night I tried using the AVS HD 709 setup disc (available from avsforum) to try to do a basic calibration. I've used the disc before with my earlier LW5700 TV so I'm familiar with the settings.

The first step involves setting up the Black Level using the brightness control. I had to take the brightness really really high (with a washed out look) to ensure some of the bands were visible and even with max brightness i couldn't get all levels till reference black to show.

Has anyone tried using that disc to setup the VT20 and any suggestions on this?

Finally Bought VT20 after lots of Reviews thanks a lot guys,
I got it for 73k with Pair of 3D Glass and Keyboard and Philips HT :)
Cant Wait to put my Hands on this one....:clapping:

Guys my pdp was delivered a couple of hours ago. While the c/b packing is ok the date of import reads as 'AUG 2010' should this be a cause of concern?

Also, I searched but am unable to see the post which gives the service menu instructions to check the usage etc. Could someone provide either the link to that particular post or the instructions themselves.

dont forget the 365 days of joy watching vt20d. i am sure u can sell this for 60k next year and buy 50vt30d for 60k

Guys, on my VT20, the brightness control does not seem to impact the black level from any value lower than +15. Essentially +15 is the same as -50.

Higher values than +15 result in big jumps in panel brightness with introduction of some colored pixels if i look very close. I saw them last night, will try to check again tonight.

Has anybody else also seen this behavior?

I'm also not able to use the AVD HD 709 avsforum disc to properly set black level using the brightness control so there's no clipping till reference black.
