Panasonic VT20 Owners Thread

Hi friends
Not able to get enough clarity with sd signals on 50 inch vt20 screen, HD is superb, mindboggling. is this related to stb sd signal quality, or hdmi problem. Or if i route stb connection through onkyo avr, will it improve? if all this cannot, can anybody pls post or direct me to the best picture settings( gamma, hue, white bal etc etc) for a sun hd dth connection.

Thanks
Dev

Hi Dev,

IMHO, Its always a good idea to route your cableSTB/DTH signal through the Onkyo, even for HD channels. The upscaler on the Onkyo (I own a 608) does a great job for the cable STB connection we have.

Just my 2 cents.

Bye,

Works pretty ok for me, am connecting direct from Tata Sky HD box using HDMI. Of course there is a big difference compared to HD channels, but much better compared to normal (analog) cable.
When I bought it, thought I would spend most time watching HD channels, however looking back there is comparitively much much more regional soap channels in SD watched.

Will need to watch SD channels from more far away (larger viewing distance from TV) as compared to the HD ones.

BTW Guys, The TV got delevered.. :clapping:
How did you guys get this installed?? Waited for the service guys to turn up??

I have no patience.. But afraid to deal with this monster..
Anybody knows the service center numbers in hyderabad??

First Impression : Not half as sexy as the V20.. Why would panasonic give two different designs to the same series??

The dealer should register the call with panasonic, only then they will come for install. Stand mount is not that difficult. Few dips and benchpress before you start.;)

Superb!!! My laptop screen must also have great black levels. it is very black indeed:p BTW, are you using the same picture settings to view all content. Or are you using this to view only till break in period. I used the same settings and i am finding this even better than THX mode;)

Some Pictures. Please pardon the quality as this is all from my phone. I will try and get some better pictures up here with my Camera if anyone wants them.

Just Arrived!!!

Breaking In the VT20
img20111003180938.jpg

Satan,

Thanks a lot for sharing these inputs and starting this thread. I bought a 50 VT20 last night and it's expected to be delivered by Mon.

I had a question on the break-in procedure. If you are running the slides in slide-show mode, what happens if there's a power failure for some time? Does the TV boot up once the power comes back and if so, what does it show? In my case, I'll be running the slides with no-one home and expect several power failures while I'm gone. Need to be sure the TV does not keep showing any static content.

Thanks!

Mine arrived today and did some physical work after long lifting the TV and stuff.. :ohyeah:

I am comparing it to the Samsung B450 that I already own so you know what you get.. I know it is unfair to compare this with a TV 5 times its mrp.. This is just FYI..

In comparison, the panasonic X30 is atleast 2 times more reflective than my B450. So B450 is already a good performer in that aspect.

This guy is performing above expectations in bright room!! Pictures to follow.. ;)

1. Out of the box
2. Unwrapped.. Yummy..
3. Reflection/Black level comparison with my 42B450 in normal room light (sun light)
4. Reflection/Black level comparison with my 42B450 in bright room with opposing tube light!! (This TV behaves almost like a gloss screen LCD!! Checkout reflections and black level degrade in the B450 and nothing atall in the VT20)
5. Ready to take position.

8. Black levels in bright room :clapping:
9. Details.. :ohyeah:
10. Nat Geo HD :clapping:

All the above are in a room with two opposing tube lights and some evening sun peeping inside..!!
