Panasonic VT20 Owners Thread

Same here. No dongle.

I got the tv wall mounted yesterday. Watched irobot on starhd, awesome :-) I am using calibration settings given by Satan.

One problem I noticed , my DVD ripped mkvs dont look good :( and there is a shuddering. I used to get it in my HD ready 40 Samsung too. Now I am suspecting it may be my htpc with inbuilt HDMI . Probably need a good graphics card. Btw blu ray off the blu ray drive plays fine.

But overall happy with my purchase :-) will post some pics later

VT20 Screen Burn Issues - Watch Out!

BTW, did you guys know that the Pixel Orbiter / Pixel Shifter / Auto Pixel Rotation fuction isn't available on the VT20?

From what I am reading, it might be present on the VT25 but certainly not on the VT20.

Considering that this is the top of the line model of Panasonic's 2010 line-up, shouldn't it's presence have been mandatory?

Even the GT25 series has this feature!
I think its not present in all *20 models. It may have been added from *25 and above series.

What is DVD ripped mkv BTW?? Is it HD or SD??
Are you talking about he 4GB and 8GB HD mkvs?? They are not DVD rips but BR rips.
I ran 5 movies so far from my WDTV and no movement issues atall.
I think you should get a media player.

BTW, Did you notice green/yellow cast issue I was talking about? I almost got rid of it by adjusting the white balance settings. Will post the settings later.

Did u all get a wireless dongle and HDMI cable with the TV

It comes with the TV only in the europe and US. Not in asian versions. Did you get it BTW?? If yes, it should be an offer from your dealer..
He probably wants some free treatment. :D

just got a call that the tv has arrived and will be sent to my house in an hour or so. unfortunately we have power cut till 12 noon. so will be installing it only then.

today being monday it will be very difficult for me to leave office till evening, so wont be seeing it till then.

so we will have to buy a dongle then. cheap of them not to give even hdmi cable.

ofcourse i have a few spare ones. I will be testing the TV with an Oppo BD83Bluray player hardware modded for allregion play, a samsung p1080 upconverting DVD player, WD Media player, and an Oppo 981 DVD player. just for kicks, over the weekend.

i have only cable connection without a settop box. thinking of getting a DTH for HD content- is it worthwhile going in for a DTH now. is the PQ & AQ any good?

I dont much watch TV programs, ut my wife and mother in law watch sports mainly cricket and Tennis. If the HD movie channels r any good i may watch some movies. so which DTH has the Best PQ in HD & SD. as it is this tv seems to be poor in SD, but then u r comparing it to ur previous sammy while i will be comparing it to my sony 50" 3lcd RPTV. so i may be happy with the SD image also. HD & 3D r supposed to be awesome.

Yes, and many others are available online.

You can go for HD DTH on one condition.. You will stop watching SD channels.. :D
Yes the movie channels are that good.. Add to that NAt geo and Discovery HD.. I have posted the pictures earlier.. I have Airtel with 7 HD channels as of now. Monthly rental 65/- for all 7 channels.. Can't be more happy.. :yahoo:

blasto, these are dvd's ripped by me using makemkv (mkv files) . Size > 5 GB. I have the WD TV as well, will check with that today. Also will download some HD movie trailers , that should be good test.

btw could you do any 3D testing yet ? tempting to try it out. :)

When I bought the TV, the last thing on my mind was 3D, but it's actually pretty good. I've watched a few 3D IMAX documentaries so far and it's pretty cool. If you are using an MKV, make sure it is a steroscopic one that is Side-by-Side. You'll have to select "Side-by-Side" in the 3D menu of the TV. "Auto" doesn't work unless the player is a degnated 3D Bluray player.

Watched IMAX under the sea 3D and some solar system one..
Movies : Avatar 3D, Tron legacy 3D and resident evil - Afterlife 3D.

All SBS 3D format in WDTV.. :yahoo:

i may be wrong, but i seem to recall that u said that 3D made u nauseous, or was it someone else.

as luck would have it i was able to finish all my cases by 1pm. and rushed home and got the tv installed by my electrician. ( i have a local electrician and a carpenter whom i had trained thoroughly so that i can do my own installations , and make speakers, bass traps etc. pretty much anything DIY. the screen in my HT , the powered subs, Bass traps etc. are all DIY).

and the image was mindblowing. i was sure iwas going to be happy with the blurays and dvds. but frankly i was worried abouth tv sd channels after reading all ur mails.
happy to say the sd channels are either a lot better , some what better or atleast the same quality, compared to my previous sony 3lcd 720p rptv. some of the channels are really good. star tv etc.

i watched blurays & dvds on oppo 83, dvds on oppo 971 dvd player, torrents of all kinds through WD TV Live. i watched the cable tv channels, some were good and some so so but none worse than the sony. so i am relieved about the wf.

watched everything in thx with brightness at -15. didn't have much time to even read the manual fully. had to be back at the clinic by 6.

but one thing ican happily say , 'wonderful.fantastic, mindblowing' havent seen such blacks in any tv or monitor todate(havent seen a kuro)

now i am unhappy with my projector which is only 720P. (panny). need to change it to full hd.

thanks to Blasto and others and the forum... just a small donation through paypal
