Panasonic VT20 Owners Thread

Mate, kindly also check the validity of the warranty card before you take it. Mine was for 3 years , plasma TV, but the duration mentioned on the warranty card was- Valid for all purchases upto 31st March.

I had called up the store guy and he told me that i need not worry because Croma bill itself will act as a warranty card.....dont quite believe them and lot of things can change in 3years hence when i go there next time (as scratch card has not yet been delivered to me) i am gonna take it up with the store manager

the croma bill will not serve you well. It will fade out in a jiffy. mine is already fading out. so get a photocopy and have it stamped and signed by croma folks.

Thanks mate, I am foreseeing the problems hence gonna get a new warranty card when i will be going there ....

Re: advantages of dual band routers

I still fail to understand how a WLAN card will differentiate traffic over a particular band. I do understand 2.4GHz could be less effective as you pointed out. However, I still dont understand how we will use 5GHz for LAN traffic.

I know this is OT, however scratching my head on how this can function, do WLAN cards need to have specific settings for this to work?

instructions for dlink. same for any other except maybe a few variables

1
Log in to your wireless router by visiting "192.168.0.1" in your Internet browser. You will be prompted to enter a username and password. By default, the username is "admin" and the password field is blank.

2
Click the "Setup" tab and select the "Wireless Settings" menu. Click the "Manual Wireless Network Setup" button.

3
Check the indicated box to enable the wireless functions of the router. You will see four sections, one for each wireless network and one for each network's wireless security. To get the full benefits of your dual band router, you should complete the setup for each network.

4
Set up the 2.4GHz (GigaHertz) network first. Assign a unique name to the network. The rest of the settings are already optimized for this particular signal and should be left as they are by default, unless of course you are aware of your network's particular needs to adjust these settings.

5
Set up the 5GHz network. Assign a different name for this network. Once again, leave the default settings active. Click "Save Settings."

6
Connect your computers to the 2.4GHz network for basic Internet browsing, such as email, text-based articles and instant messaging. Connect any devices you use for high-definition video streaming and downloads to your 5GHz network. The network suffers less interference from nearby objects like cell phones, so the network is optimized for high demand traffic from your video game consoles, Netflix ready devices or other video streaming sources.

So you basically want to create 2 Access Points (SSIDs) for each band. Now I understand what you were saying! You have to manually switch between these two to utilize the available bandwidth. I would rather stay at 5GHz if there is not much other traffic for the internet. As anyway, at a time you can connect to ONE AP only so using "one for internet and another for intranet" can not work simultaneously like we were discussing.

What do you mean by "EOK"? East of Kailash? Was second pair promised for all and is it mentioned on the invoice?
Yes, 'EOK' = East of Kailash. Yes, the commitment was for 'ONE' additional pair of 3D glasses (One pair of 3D glasses is already included in the TV box). I have received the additional 3D glassses for both TVs I had purchased.

Nice, I thought its some code when that struck my mind :) Any luck negotiating for more numbers thru them with 2x glasses?

The deal that we had was valid untill Dhanteras or till stocks last, whichever came/happenned earlier.

Time for deals has come and gone with Diwali. Now is the time to sit back and enjoy the awesome PQ.

It's all about negotiating skills buddy. I'm getting the Diwali offer from multiple dealers almost 2 weeks after "the Diwali" offer period, with a better price on the tele's.

Just depends on how hard you look and how bad you want it!

You may be able to negotiate and get a good price, but Diwali time is totally different. For 74k Croma offered 50VT20 with 3 yrs warranty, 2 3D glasses, wall mount, wireless keyboard, tata sky hd+ worth 4k and scratch card. I doubt anyone got this deal after 26th Oct.

72K for all the above, excluding the Tata Sky HD+ and the Scratch Card.

They weren't offering the Tata Sky HD+ in Mumbai even during Diwali, so the only thing missing at the moment is the scratch card. I'd rather get a 2K discount than pick up the scratch card.

Not to mention, it should be cheaper elsewhere considering we're charged octroi in Mumbai.

Mate, I got Tata Sky Hd Pvr from Croma, juhu alongwith the offer and it was between Dassehra and Diwali, 9th Oct to be precise.......however i wasnt offered the Second glass in 75k. The offer was available for 20 odd days even after diwali ...infact when i had gone back to the store to collect my scratch card on 31st Oct they still had few sets with them when i checked.....

He is probably referring to the warehouse stock.

I went to Juhu Croma a week back, they didn't even have the 50VT20s in stock.

You might have been advised regarding the in-store stock.

None of the stores wants the headache of holding expensive, slow moving items, especially when they have the company warehouse to fall back on.

it is written on the extended warranty card that the panasonic copy has to be mailed to them. has anyone done that????? is it really necessary?

I 100% agree with you! I also regard myself to be a good negotiator which may at times move to a bargaining mode if negotiations don't help!

Let me know if you could get the inventory of stocks that store has and if they can ship outside Pune/Mumbai. 72k is also not a very bad deal seeing stock contrains while I still try to get the price of around 65k or around 70k with 2 glasses.

Croma folks at Bangalore have communicated to me that they are only offering Dish HD vouchers and have NOT offered TS+HD during Diwali offer. And I STILL have the same Diwali offer with a price reduction of 1k and minus 1x glasses which they are anyway denying that it would have been given even during Diwali!

If at all we get hands of the stocks in the next few days, I can be certain that we will either get the same offer (probably minus scratch card which anyway hardly gave anyone anything) at even lower prices or with 1 additional glass around that price. I know it takes days to do such negotiations, that is the reason I ALWAYS insist on these group buys and let us handle the negotiation part like what Unrealistic is doing from Maharastra. I get rather amazed that despite discussions on lower prices and ongoing negotiations, some of us get impulsive and go ahead purchasing at higher pricing which also doesn't give the core members who organize the group buys any credit. Such credits are very important for us to keep getting group buys at rock bottom pricing. Unless we give business to these firms, they will never take us seriously!

with full respect to you and your efforts, out of my curiosity I wanted to ask you a question?
I saw your group buy thread for samsung D550 and now VT20..
How do you manage to spare time for such activities and negotiations apart from your routine activities when people like me are not even getting enough time to search and bargain for the products we are going to buy..
I mean its really difficult to get all info and bargain if you are not from this field itself..

Its really unfortunate to see some people(even from your own city) are purchasing despite your instructions when they just have to wait and eat ready made pizza..

I put it in 'CHARITY" category..

Hats off to your efforts..

Guys please take the price talk to the appropriate thread. The owners thread is not for that. It makes it difficult for new owners to find the right information.

It's about time some mods step in here and do some clean up work.

@prankey... you've made it abundantly clear that everyone should go through your deals. It's upto them now. I don't mean to be rude but I keep seeing the same post in almost every thread that I visit and almost every page that I visit. Please restrict price talk to the relavant threads.

Cheers
