Panasonic VT20 Owners Thread

Can someone scan the extended warranty card and post it here please. The ones already posted (http://www.hifivision.com/attachmen...5-panasonic-vt20-owners-thread-warranty02.jpg and http://www.hifivision.com/attachmen...4-panasonic-vt20-owners-thread-warranty01.jpg) are not appearing clear (although I remember I had seen the text clearly before).
I have to send them to croma here as they find it difficult to understand that there is seperate warranty card for plasma!

i have been given a warranty/service card by panasonic installation guy with 4 service coupons in it, out of which 1 he tore off. i took the stamps of croma all over that card. croma told me the bill i have would serve for warranty claims as well, just get it photocopied and keep it safe. moreover, the warranty card given to me by panasonic says its for 1 year, but the service person told me that its valid for 3 years and you wont face any issue on that. should i call up panasonic CC asking for a 3-yr card instead ? i had read somewhere that they've exhausted their 'plasma' warranty cards and are distributing LCD ones. seems lame on the part of them. what to do ?!

I would recommend you to claim a 3 year warranty card. You must have it in written...

Help Required from owners of 50VT20 :

Please tell which formats VT20 can play via USB ?

Also, Is there a "JUST" zoom option in it ?

And, Does it have GAME mode ? Can I play games via my lappy through HDMI/DLNA in it ? BTW, Which HDMI class port it has ?

To all owners of 50VT20, kindly tell more about the 3D capabilities of the tv. How do you rate 3D on this hdtv ?

1) VT20 has very basic video format playability. DIVX for sure. Most other formats don't work. It's safe to say that with this TV you will DEFINITELY need a Media Player.

2) Yes, there is a "JUST" zoom option.

3) Yes there is a GAME profile as well. Yes you can connect your computer to the TV via HDMI.

Guys please take the price talk to the appropriate thread. The owners thread is not for that. It makes it difficult for new owners to find the right information.

It's about time some mods step in here and do some clean up work.

@prankey... you've made it abundantly clear that everyone should go through your deals. It's upto them now. I don't mean to be rude but I keep seeing the same post in almost every thread that I visit and almost every page that I visit. Please restrict price talk to the relavant threads.

Cheers
Apologies, I will stop being upfront despite feeling heart burns with other members whom I treat like part of my extended family spending more than necessary and taking decision while supposedly actively waiting with others in GB threads. I may still continue to flood my GB threads as its more of my passion as an AV enthusiast and being conservative in nature. That post of mine might have been 3rd in the recent times, sorry that it felt that I am blabbering (more appropriately, cribbing if someone do not give appropriate credit for arranging best prices for them). Seems I have to spend more energy in my daily dose of negotiations so I get completely exhausted and sleep deprived to cribbing like this.

It has very limited USB functionality as I have learned:

1. No NTFS volume support, only FAT32/16 is supported restricting max video file size to 4GB
2. No support for MKVs or 3D DivX/DivX HD. Regular 2D DivX and DivX HD, AVCHD (similar format as BD and Handycams) should work. I doubt it will even pass thru DTS MA or DD THD.
3. For Audio, seems it only support MP3s (AAC or WMA doesn't seem to be supported either)

It has DLNA and you can connect your laptop thru DVI/HDMI/VGA. However, it doesn't seem to support full 24/32bit video from PC and does scaling to YUY or YUV before processing it. Hence your games and PC output may not look as crisp as it should (Samsung supports it without any issue).

Max PC resolution is 1366x768 through VGA port which is rather strange for a full HD TV. Can someone suggest if latest firmware edits the EDID to unlock 1920x1080?

1. The Coupon booklet (if you can call it that) comes with the tv in the box along with the 1 year warranty card.

2. A LCD warranty card will not be valid for Plasmas and vice versa. This was clarified by a Panasonic channel manager to the local Croma manager in front of me. The local Croma was sent LCD cards and that is exactly what we were getting clarified from the company. The correct cards were sent by Panasonic to the store in question subsequently.

3. In principle the bill should work for the extended warranty as the two year extended warranty is valid on all sets sold between Sept and Dec 2011. However it is better to have a company issued warranty certificate. The store can always get more from the company. We too got ours after a couple of weeks but got them we did.

Lot of confusion regarding the additional 2 year warranty card.

The LCD card is valid for both Plasma & LCD's (at least the one that I got is). It's mentioned on the card plus the warranty card number has the prefix "PDP" in it which stands for Plasma Display Panel

BTW, do we really need to send out the 2nd card termed "Panasonic Copy" to them or is it something that doesn't matter like with the other electronics manufacturers?

For those of you that are confused about the coupons everyone is talking about, here it is below. This is the standard 1 YR warranty card along with 3 coupons for free services during the first year and a DEMO / Installation coupon. This one comes in the box along with the instruction manual.

Thanks for posting this.

This warranty card is different from the one posted in this thread (on 23rd oct) but the number(starts with PDP), date and "valid for Plasma" is what I think everyone should verify.
2 of the cards offered to me by croma aundh, Pune were missing either of these.

@Amol... The post from the 23rd that you are referring to is here. It's the same as the one that I've posted and also includes the "Valid for Plasma Purchases" tag.

I received only second one (Panasonic warranty card) and not the first one(congratulations card)..(not quoting pictures to cut it short)
Do I need to worry?
I thought if I buy a Panasonic set from authorized Panasonic brandshop with bill, it should be sufficient to assure 3 years warranty..as it is by default for 3 years for any plasma Tv from Panasonic..

There is a lot of confusion on this matter. It's pretty shoddy of Panasonic to come up with this silly additional warranty card. Though it says it's only valid for purchases from SEPT 2011 to DEC 2011, the same 3 YR warranty was available more than a year ago when I was looking to get the V/VT20.

I think this is just another way for Panasonic to weasel out of their commitment of a 3 year warranty based on an outdated practice of a warranty card while every other manufacturer out there uses only the bill of purchase as a reference.

They're making customers jump through hoops for this silly card. If I hadn't already picked up mine and ran into a problem with this TV after the 1st year which Panasonic wasn't willing to fix on the grounds that I don't have the additional warranty card, I'd drag their incompetent @S$3s to court.

just had a word with panasonic and croma CC.

panasonic told you need to fill details on the card and send it to chennai. within a month you will then receive customer's copy of the card.

croma CC executive told that although the bill is sufficient for the warranty claim, but still, the store will arrange the card for you and give you a call when its available and hand it over to you when you come.

now gotta go to the store and talk to them.

Thanks a lot 'khoj' and 'satan' !!

P.S. - all this pertains to the stupid 'extended warranty card' of panasonic.

If your PC/Laptop has HDMI Port then it play in Full HD format 1920X1080p

I have connected my VT20 with PC with Nvidia 470 Graphics card via 10 Meter HDMI Cable :)
How is the color accuracy through PC connectivity? Can it display like a regular monitor without scaling (full 4:4:4 color reproduction)?

I didn't find any issue with it.

It all depends on resolutions in PC; if you PC support full 1080p then no issues it will be full screen without any issue.

I had played couple of 3D Full HD SBS movies and they worked just awesome no visible ghosting.
color are crisp and sharp similar to Monitor/Blue Ray.
I have got cable from Nehru place just for 600 I didn't find any issue with length of cable.

This one costs 1500/- ebay link
