Hi guys!

First of all...congratulations to everyone who owns this wonderful plasma tv!

I own myself since a couple of days the 65 VT30 and this TV is quite impressive...especially the size! :)

Of course a lot of questions are coming up...break in...calibration....settings, etc.

Therefore, I would appreciate if we could share here some experiences.

I will start with using the TV with reduced contrast (30) and the same with colour (30).

In addition, I am thinking of using break in slides. How are you guys proceed with your TV the first weeks?

Please post your thoughts, opinions and maybe settings here.
Also any pics you might have. :signthankspin:

Congrats, Phil! :) 65 sounds really big! I have a 50" V20, and I thought that was quite big!

BTW, I see that you are based in Delhi. Where did you buy this TV from? I am looking around to pick up another 50" but not getting decent prices at the places I have found till now.

I bought the TV in Gurgaon.

At Krish Enterprise Panasonic Brand Shop. Right opposite of the Panasonic Corporate Office AWB Building.

The TV is quite expensive and it is really hard to get a good deal...especially when you compare it with prices in Europe!;)

But at least the service is very good and they had a special offer so that I get a Blu-Ray Player and 10 Blu rays from Panasonic.

Furthermore, the wall mount installation is also included.

Keep me posted where you will find a good deal...I guess I need one more for the bedroom...but not 65!:p

By the way...did you make anything special like watching break in slides, etc at the beginning with your VT20?

Regrads!

Congratulations Phil. I don't own the VT series but the ST series and hope I am not banned in posting here ;) I did break-in slides and followed the D-Nice method. I see VT series has much more customization per his notes but again its personal preference. Few of my friends didn't do break in or panel prep as D-Nice would like to be called, but just kept the Brightness & Contrast to below 50 and they are totally fine as well.

65VT30 is upwardsof 3.5L right?
Samsung D8000 plasma at 1/2 the price would have done 90-95% right.

There is no other sizes released in India I suppose?
You are gonna be one lonely guy in this thread. :p

@Vardu

The price was at the beginning of Februaury at 305,000 Ruppee...including 2x Glasses, WIFI Dongle and full installation. In addition I ll get a Blu Ray Player and 10 Blu Rays...still very expensive!

Unfortunetly, they only released the 65 for the VT30 series in India. Its a pity. I like the full glass panel design.

I dont understand why the don t release other sizes. I am from Germany and there are all kind of differen sizes with way better prices. Especially the 55 inches VT 30 would be very interesting to have in India.

So I guess with only one size available I ll be very lonely here! :-)

Hey guys,

Question from a newbie among clearly more educated ppl but, ill either get flamed or i might get some hints...
Ive had P50VT30Y for like 4 months now and im still trying to get best picture, especially gamma from my PC...

As you all know i guess there are two different DVI Inputs you can choos from on the VT30 - Normal/Full.
From what i understand these are two different "standards" or something, where one is usually used for PC monitors (full) and the other one for "normal" TVs (normal)...

When im sending Normal 16-235 from the PC through madVR settings (renderer for MPC-HC), the gamma seems to look best BUT, its really too dark, i have to send gamma 1.8 from PC and choose 1.8 on the TV for it to even be decent picture, but the blacks seems good then, maybe "too good".. But seeing as i have to choose that high gamma as 1.8 im thinking it cant be correct either?

When im sending 0-255 from PC it looks good i guess but its like its a grey filter over the screen, in dark scenes i get annoyed to **** cause i know how good it CAN be (when im using 16-235)...
I can also choose "enable gamma processing" in madVR settings, there i can choose from 1.8-2.6 gamma with both "pure power curve" and "BT.709/601 curve", i dont even know what these two mean really, but "BT.709/601 curve" is the setting i have to choose for the picture to be bright enough to watch a movie without getting annoyed (thats with 1.8 gamma on both TV and PC)...

I have Nvidia 8800GT graphics card if that matters.. Im hoping some of you guys can send me in the right direction or perhaps ask me some questions if theres some info i left you that you need to know in order to help..

Hoping for answers and thanks

Which one is preferable sending from PC? What am i doing wrong?
