Pass B1

If I remember correctly, the r-core should cost you less than Rs 500 (I think it was Rs 400 to be exact). Om or Sachin can pitch in here.
Om can answer this.We both got our Transformers @ Rs 650 each iirc. That price was including taxes and rating was 22-0-22.Om's brother later personally collected trafos from factory and send to individual members.Price was lower this time as there was no tax added.
Regards,
Sachin

I am ready to take the initiative if there are at-least 10 members interested. I will post the cost soon after completing the acrylic works. Other required hardware's like RCA, Connectors, bushes and tools like soldering iron, desoldering pump, DMM etc. i can arrange through DIYAUDIOCART.

Thanks,
Bibin

Hi Bibin,
That would be very nice. Can you quote price for 10 cabs?I will need few cabs for CNC Phono too as we discussed earlier.

Regards,
Sachin

Yes, it was somewhere that same amount. Manufacturer just packed all in one big single box. This time we can lower voltage to 18-0-18 because it was unnecessary high voltage to regulator who dissipated more heat. It depends as manufacturer has already previous order fed to computer then we can repeat same 22-0-22 order also. Whichever is cheap and early.

Nice initiative. Waiting for your pics.

:yahoo: Thanks Bibin, was about to PM regarding this :)
Eagerly waiting to see pics of a well designed cab with related paraphernalia neatly laid out :licklips:
Needless to say, you give us a good set of components @ reasonable prices & we are all interested in acquiring them through you.
Just the right way to increase the number of DIY'ers on our forum.

:)

For the sake of DIY newbies like me, I am listing down all the components that are required to complete the B1 build.

1. B1 kit (supplied by Sachin)
2. Cabinet (different options are being explored)
3. Wires for internal connections (CAT5 cable has been recommended. Any better option?)
4. Spacers to mount PCB to cabinet
5. RCA connectors for input and output connections
6. Power switch/toggle
7. IEC (Is this required or can we run just a power chord wire from within the cabinet?)
8. Volume knob
9. Source selector switch/toggle (for more than 2 sources, do we need a separate selector kit?)
10. Soldering iron
11. Solder
12. DMM (is this reqd?)
13. Patience and Time :D

Would request DIY experts to add/modify to the list. Just trying to make sure that folks (like me) who have never done this before know exactly what all is required.

I don't have a clear idea about cost at this point of time. My estimate is below 2K for sheet metal(MS) cab and acrylic front and back panels.

It will be difficult for me to source the knobs for all the participant. I can provide the details of the ebay seller and all can get the same knobs. Rest all materials are available with me.

Thanks,
Bibin

If you guys need the above mentioned components as a kit, i can create a new line item called say "DIY B1 components Kit" . Please confirm the items and let me know the list.

Thanks,
Bibin

Thanks Bibin. I definitely will be interested in getting all components together as a kit. Let us wait around for others also to respond. If there is good interest, then we can start a new thread for that to sort out the component list.

That would be great Bibin. It would save a lot of our time and effort in procuring the components apart from the cabinet and ensure that we do not miss out any tit bits.

My request would be to keep the cabinet as compact as possible since I'm running out of storage space in my cabinet :-) Height and width is more an issue than depth.

Om, what is the minimum HxWxD dimensions? Also, which component decides the height, R-Core or Capacitors?

Adding to the interest list for r-core (thru Om's contacts) and cabinet (not yet decided which cabinet - magma's, Bibin's, ebay, local etc)

r-core (18-0-18)
1. APK
2. Santy
3. ruenigma
4. Hemantwagde
5. Denom
6. TheCoolestOne (2 Nos)
7. ngd
8. atharva
9. mbhangui

Cabinet
1. APK
2. ruenigma.
3. TheCoolestOne (2 Nos)
4. ngd
5. atharva
6. mbhangui

Pls add on to the list if you are interested.

Added my name

I have fitted all in one cabinet of dimension 8"(D) X 12"(W) X 3"(H). I already posted link to pics.

Hi Sachu,
Can you please add me to the GB list. Would like to get the B1 + PS kit along with R core.

Had a brief chat with Omji today and he told me it is relatively simply DIY build so would like to try my hands on DIY for first time! :) Excited!

Thanks!
Rohit
