Gratzies.. and welcome to the Yamaha family

Bought Yamaha RX-V473... currently paired it with my Old sony HTIB speakers minus sub..excellent in reproducing music...enjoying my new system..don't miss the sub while listening music at all.

But what I observed is while watching movies, sub is needed as it helps in creating the theatrical ambience in your room..hence I am looking for the ways to convert my passive sub into powered.

After 2 months of wait, I finally received the wonderful small device called FLIRC. The first shipment never reached me. So they sent a replacement thrpugh USPS express mail on 23/3 and received it on 29/3. It is basically a programmable usb device which acts as a keyboard. You can use any remote control with this device. This is an excellent device for HTPC users. No more need to bother about compatible remotes for your PC. Use your existing TV/DVD/STB remote to control your PC. Once programmed you can use it in any computer irrespective of OS. Wait for a detailed review.

Can not afford the Klipsch at the moment, but around 15th of this month (thats when my account rings with the sound of new coins...) I am likely to get this:

Superlux HD-668 B Reviews

It is affordable, and I would like to believe the hype, let them be true! :)

Hi shibashis,

I know the Superluxes are relatively cheaper, but let me direct your attention to the Samson SR850 which are available on online order from Furtados, or you can go to their store if you have one in your city. In my search for "pocket-friendly aural nirvana" :) , I had stumbled upon the Superlux and later Samson headphones via head-fi.

If you are unaware, the Samsons are the same exact headphones as the Superlux ones, albeit with a slightly altered casing and different brand name. Personally, with the Samson styling being less show-offy, I prefer them. They are available for Rs2,000 IIRC and can be shipped to your place from Furtados Bombay. The pricing makes it a real steal.

(If I have overdone it, let it be known that I have no ties with the afore-mentioned retailer and am just excited to read from an HFVian about a product that I similarly admire. :D )

Do let me know if you are getting a better price on the Superluxes though, as I too will be making this purchase soon.

Hi there,

Bought a Denon 2113 with KEF Q500 and a Polk DWS 550 sub woofer ( will post the picz shortly). The current speaker arrangement was too short to each other and the distance between the TV and the sofa is also short, so tilting it the other way to make more space and changing room colours.. :)

So far from what I listened, the sound is great. I learnt about Bi-Amp concept and I am gonna do that next week, since, I am not using the 6th and the 7th channel. So, expecting more music from the front after Bi-Amping.

During audition, the KEFs sounded far more better than the Polk, immediately decided to go for the KEFs.

I also auditioned the Magnat, but, wasn't impressed, .. may be the amp set up with Marantz was not that good.

What I had in my mind set was Yamaha RX-V663 and Polk speakers, but ended up in Denon and KEF.

I also bought a Sony BD Player S-190

I'm happy though.

By the way do also enjoy the few HD movie channels thru your new system

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
