Right now I am listening to ...

Nicholas Gunn - Breath

This guy never seems to amaze me with the kind of soulful tracks he generates with the flute. Some traks like "Viaje Sagrado (Sacred Journey)" or "Embrace" from this album are truly enthralling.

Same goes for his first albumthat I heard "Music form the Grand Canyon"

Bertie Higgins- Casablanca
Timbaland Feat One Republic-Apologize
Gregorian- And I Love her.
Tears for fears-Everybody wants to rule the world.
Engelbert Humperdinck-Les Bicyclettes De Belsize, The Last Waltz.
Andy Williams- Killing me Softly.
Matt monroe-The music played.
Andrea Bocelli-Besame Mucho
:D

Sanjay, nice album that, all the way. Very strong material, and minimalistic production that lets the band shine through. It's almost a live sound - if you check out 'Down to the Waterline' version on the Beeb live disc recorded around the same time, it's pretty much the same.

I feel many of these songs are much stronger than the single, 'Sultans of Swing'.

Dire Straits ...... their first album ( I think ). The untitled one.

Also dig the 'Making Movies' album, it's a bit more ornately produced, but some of the songwriting is even stronger.

Not sure why 'Brothers in Arms' gets all the kudos..

While on the topic, listened last night to the Knopfler solo album, 'Ragpicker's Dream'

On the Dire Straits album, I like Six blade knife and In the Gallery a lot and Water of Love. Of course I also like Sultans of Swing and Down to the waterline. What amazes me is the musical maturity these guys had so early in their careers.

By the way, I heard Ca-Ira by Roger Waters. An opera, and honestly, I was not too impressed. Radio KAOS was so much better.

"Heartfelt" by Fourplay

Group was formed in 1991 after the quartet came together on part of James' Grand Piano Canyon album. They have since recorded a number of CDs for Warner Bros. that have all been big-sellers, not surprising considering the popularity of James and Ritenour. Larry Carlton took over the guitarist's spot in the late '90s, first appearing in Fouplay on the band's successful 1998 album, 4. The group's music borders on jazz with some strong improvisations mixed in with large doses of pop and R&B, about what one would expect from these studio musicians.

keyboardist Bob James, guitarist Lee Ritenour, bassist Nathan East, and drummer Harvey Mason

Yes,it remains one of my favourite Dire Straits albums.I also like 'Communique' and 'On Every Street' and agree that 'Brothers in Arms'is a bit over hyped .
'Making Movies' is a superb album. The wife likes the 'Money for Nothing'collection. Its amazing how one browses through this forum and gets inspired to haul out and listen to stuff one hasn't heard for some time. Heard 'Ragpicker's Dream 'last night - 'Why Aye Man' 'Marbletown ','You don't know you're born ',the title song, - all top drawer.Followed it up with 'Sailing to Philadelphia '[anoher great album] and 'Golden Heart'[Cannibals,Dont you get it,Imelda, etc].Also checked out the 'Live at the Beeb'album - didn't even remember that I had it !!! Simply mind blowing.Cheers - and keep the music going

And my wife adores the country fiddle on 'Daddy's Gone to Knoxville'.

Listened to Ry Cooder's eponymous debut album. Fantastic, makes me want to delve deeper into the catalogue.

Hadn't listened to Cooder much prior to this, except the Pt. VM Bhatt collaboration (which I felt was very much a Bhatt album featuring Cooder). Also his contributions to the some Stones albums of the early 70s, most notably slide on the studio version of 'Love in Vain'.

Today I listened to Tropical Rainforest- Atmospheric Moods. An instrumental album with sounds of the forest being the main sound of the album. Birds, the wind rustling, nice sounds. Very relaxing.
