Right now I am listening to ...

Here's another familiar voice! That is, if you're into his kind of music - Steve Winwood.

BLIND FAITH - BLIND FAITH

Does the album cover get censored these days?

I seem to remember that it was controversial, not so much because of the presence of breasts, but because the lady was actually a young child.

<EDIT...>

Wikkipedia has the story (or at least, a story). It is far more convoluted than I knew: I only remember the rumour that she was the daughter of one of the musicians, and, apparently she was not.

Problem is that even though you appreciate the music, it's irritating when you can't understand the lyrics in a forein language!!

English verse are enjoyable. Lyrics are available online :)

Plus if its playback on the PC then media players like Foobar will pull the lyrics on autopilot and display them in a separate window... kind of like Karaoke.

Nope!

I did a bit of my own censorship on the cover. I didn't want our Mod and respectable FMs to get shocked out of their chappals so early in the day!!

Yes, but the subtelties and nuances of the language are lost in translation.

I cite our very own Indo-French collaboration by the group Maatibaani where the producers have given a French to English translation in the video. Even when the singer trills the words la-la-la-la the translation continues!! Of course, that does not detract from the song itself or the video quality. Both are outstanding!

While you're at it, I also suggest that you should watch their latest music video Balma. It's really good.

Thanks for the suggestion about Foobar. I'll definitely try it out. :)

Still continuing with Steve Winwood here today....

TRAFFIC - WELCOME TO THE CANTEEN (LIVE)

Released in 1971, this album had a very business-like performance by the band members. So much so that fans suspected them of producing a studio performed album with audience background sounds mixed in! All in all an enjoyable live album with some of the group's hit numbers.

TRAFFIC - ON THE ROAD (LIVE)

Another live album from Traffic and released in 1973. A long, meandering performance by the group, probably to prolong the playing time and give the audience their paisa-vasooli!

Percussionist "Rebop" Kwaku Baah always added an exotic touch to the group's studio albums with his muted playing. But he really stands out in the live performances in almost all the tracks, especially in the second album.

TRAFFIC - GOLD

Traffic's 2-CD compilation album released in 2005.

Listening to Kula Shaker.

Sarith has once again sent me down memory lane! It's been a long, long time ago that I had last listened to 4 Non Blondes, and try as I might, I could not dig out their album. It's probably buried with the CDs that I hardly listen to now!
Instead, I came out with another one though. This album had become a sort of companion on my local tours to nearby towns by car. It made the long drives less monotonous especially late at night....

ALL SAINTS - ALL SAINTS

This album is the first release of the Anglo-Canadian all girl group in late 1997, and went on to get Platinum in the U.S. The group also achieved three No.1 singles in the U.K. - "Never Ever", "Under the Bridge" and "Lady Marmalade".

Unfortunately, All Saints managed to release only two more albums. In the past, this group has been compared to the Spice Girls, although unfairly, in my personal opinion. While both groups sang different genres, the Spice Girl phenomenon was mainly the result of a sustained media campaign backed by a cash-rich record label. On the other hand, All Saints music was rather laid back and they did not get the benefit of a similar kind of publicity. However, the genre sung by this group has survived the test of time and Gen Z will probably prefer this music to those of the Spice Girls.

NOTEWORTHY TRACKS: Never Ever, Under the Bridge. Honourable mentions Lady Marmalade (which is not a patch on the Christina Aguilera & Co. version!), I Know Where Its At. Also, the soft balladic War of Nerves is worth giving a listen to.

FOOTNOTE OF INTEREST: One could almost mistake the opening music score of I Know Where Its At with that of Steely Dans The Fez. Of course, the latter groups song was released nearly three decades earlier!

All Saints.. Just checked out old collection and there it was. Rock steady, Lady Marmalade, Never ever, under the bridge etc..They were good. you reminded me of Sugababes. Their first two albums were really enjoyable.

'Round Round' was one of my fav. Those were the days. Shaggy, Lenny Kravitz, Craig David (first 3 albums were awesome), Savage Garden (Darren hayes as a solo artist did fine with album 'Spin'). Jamiroquai was a school time fav.

Really crazy about some songs of Fluke. Golden eye, The saint, MI-2, Tomb Raider, Space Jam, The Matrix, Animatrix etc are some of the OSTs I like a lot. I bid adieu to mp3 format long time ago and thus I was able to procure CDs and lossless audio files before it all disappeared.
