sorry for the late reply - was travelling and couldn't scan the invoice earlier.
Attached is the invoice

Price on Invoice : INR 67432.51
Delivered on 28th Oct 2013
Manufacturing Date : Oct 2013

Freebies from Samsung : Samsung BluRay Player (BD F5100)
Along with the TV : 2 Samsung 3D glasses (5100GB model)
Freebies from Reliance Digital : Additional 2 Samsung 3D glasses (4100GB model) + 5% cash back on INR 67432.51 (reliance digital & StateBank seem to have an exclusive tie-up ).

Has any one else received the additional 2 3D glasses from the dealer other than the 2 which are packed along with the TV?

Would 4100GB model glasses work on par with 5100GB model for 51F5500 Samsung plasma TV?

Thanks dude.

I was asking the same store and hes quoting me 71k and wont budge, if you don't mind any chance you can upload the invoice for me ? he will price match.

4100 works perfectly. 5100 was not available for retailing outside till few months back. It is only provided as part of the TV package only.

Hi All,

Finally I figured out how to check the usage hours on 64F8500 and I checked the usage hours on my old TV (the one which I am going to return, please read my post on the 64F8500 thread) just now. I am shocked, the TV is used for 18460 minutes ie. 307 hours. I would have used around 15 hours since I got it on last friday, so the TV was used by some one else for around 290 hours. This is absolute cheating by the dealer and I really want to do something which will make the dealer understand the pain a customer goes through!

Below is the process:

A. Borrow a Samsung remote from your neighbour :)
B. Switch off your TV using your remote, i.e. put it in stand by mode
C. Press the below keys in quick succession- Info, Menu, Mute, Power
D. The TV will switch on and the service menu will appear on the screen.
E. Use the down arrow button till you come to 'SVC'
F. Use the right button and the 'SVC Menu' will open
G. Use the down arrow button till you come to 'SVC Info', you will also see a '0' next to SVC Info.
H. Click the right arrow button now and the 'SVC Info' screen will open.

The below options were seen on my screen:

1. Model Code: PS64F8500
2. Serial Number- You will see the serial no. of your TV
3. Pre Software Version: Fail
4. Software Version:T-FXPUABC-1105.4
4. Panel Display Time: 18460 min
5. Last Mode (Connection)- ATV
6. Pairing: 3D Glasses: O, 11' Remote : X, 12' Smart Contr
7. SmartHub Used: Fail
8. Watchdog Count: 0

(Serial number 4 was used twice as mentioned above)

I: Switch off the TV using the remote power off button

That's it simple :) hope this helps :) This process will also work for F5500 plasma TV.

Do not use volume buttons or any other buttons apart from the ones mentioned above.

I will check my new replacement TV's usage hours after it is installed tomorrow.

I have been doing loads of research since last Friday and I am happy I was finally able to check the usage hours.

I will also post screen shots when I get time during this weekend.

Many thanks to Mr. Krishnarao (user id- krishnaraog) for sharing this information earlier.

Cheers, Ravi

folks...

need your help !!

I haven't yet finalized on the home theatre system for my 51F5500 - while I do my groundwork on it, wanted to check if there is any way that I could connect my Philips Multimedia Speakers (awesome speakers that I earlier used to connect to my laptop) to the TV Output. The Philips speakers have 3.5 mm input and the 51F5500 has a digital audio out (optical) - so how do I connect them? Is there any connector / adapter for a digital audio out to 3.5mm ?

Please suggest.
Thanks for all your help.

Hi,

My question here on the free Bluray player provided during diwali offer along with F5500 Plasma..

Please let me know, how is the BLU Ray player provided?? will you suggest me to buy this player(i prefer this for the reason cheap entry level model)

Normally Sony blur ray players claims, they do Very good DVD Upscaling to 1080p - Does this Samsung player also does the DVD Upsacaling to fit 1080P quality on Big screen??

i bought LED 55 Inch, and my
BOSE AV3-2-1 DVD Home Entertainment Theater System
Bose 3-2-1 DVD Quality is not Good on my LED Tv.

So looking for Bluray player that can do dvd Upscaling as well...

If this samsung Player cannot upscale properly, i'm planning to buy
BDP-S5100 (99$)

Got my 51F5500 installed last night and was amazed at the size of the TV! Seriously, I don't know how people get a 64'' .. it must be gigantic :-). I saw a little of a HD movie and some non HD football last night. It is currently being IR-protected by running the break-in slides.
My initial comments:

1. Got a brief demo from the "engineer". He activated wi-fi and showed some SMART features but i don't know what would I use the wi-fi or SMART for?

2. Stand Mounted for now. Engineer said I can ask for a wall mount installation free within 6 months of purchase.

3. The set is straight forward to set up and use. I got only the Smart remote. The track feature takes a little getting used to but is nifty.

4. As luck would have it, Star Movies HD was showing Men In BLACK last night. It was my first content and it ROCKED. The set hasn't broken in but Plasma is for MOVIES. Looked awesome. The sky and star scenes were black and white.. Like in a theatre.

5. Audio out -> TV has Optical Out only. Disappointed. I have a Amp and wanted to feed the TV audio out into the Amp. Can't do. Does a Optical <-> RCA exist? I would have to get audio out from STB :(

6. Sports: Hmmm I was only able to watch a non-HD Ten Action football and it did NOT look great. I am a huge huge sports fan and bought the TV to watch movies and sports.
Would the HD sports look better? Is there any setting to use for SD content to look better? Or am i having buyers remorse .. the Sony W950 looked awesome for motion atleast on the demo content. Am i going to be disappointed in Sports PQ on a Plasma :(

7. I am running Break-in slides right now. TV has barely been used for 3 hours so far ..

8. Extended Warranty: Sammy is offering 3 year extended warranty for around 9000/- ??!! The engineer looked at a sheet and quoted 9000/-. Does it sound right? It does seem a lot.

I will update as i use it longer .. Loving it so far ..

Vishal, where did you get the 5500 from? I am also from Mumbai, stay at Mahim and I am struggling to find a shop which will even give me a demo of the F5500 Plasma.
When I call up Samsung Customer Care they too have no idea and give me numbers of random shops, it is frustrating!

Thanks in advance!

Plasma Guru's please suggest. I am uploading the photos taken from Mobile ( the small light on screen is mobile flash I switched it off but still somehow I am not able to avoid it completely).

Please suggest

I got it from Croma in Phoenix Mill Lower Parel

Thanks a lot Dushie and Hfvtush.
None of the Croma shops have the 51F5500 in display.

Finally after tons of calls, found out that Reliance Digital Infinity Mall has a piece in display (All the Reliance shops other than Infinity Mall say that they have it in stock but not in display) Going tomorrow to Malad to check it out!

What is a good price for the 51F5500?

Finally, after waiting in vain for the Panasonic 50ST60 for the last month or so, my choice has zeroed down to

Samsung 51F5500
Panasonic P50S60D.

Pluses on the former, anyone? :-)

Go for 51F5500, its a good tv with awesome features. Would not put my money on Panasonic plasma for S60 model as they have stopped selling plasmas in India for now.

The best best price my friend got King's electronics Kharghar after a long negotiation was of 69K, with the blu ra dvd free.

Post checking the set on display, just negotiate on the price and pick up where you get the lowest offer. Also ensure they give the blu ray player free, as till the end of this week, they are still giving the free gift with samsung product.

I got it for 69K with blue ray player in this Diwali ( but still croma has not send the gift)
You can get more discount if you exchange your old TV

I am using 51F5500 for 20 days now and loving it.

One negative point is its just impossible to watch this if you have direct light on the screen. Just be sure that during daytime all your windows curtains are closed as this screen reflects lot of light.

Any suggestions on my previous post for colour banding ,plz reply

Please play regular content SD or HD and observe the PQ. If there is banding and it is clearly view-able in the picture, you may have a case. If the PQ is fine then i don't think it should be a worry. But ensure you do go for extended warranty for next 3 years as it would come in handy later on in case of any issues.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
