Samsung Plasma 51F5500 Owners Thread /Reviews/Discussions!!

Hello everyone,
my yamaha rxv667 receiver is connected to 51F5500 plasma's ARC hdmi port with a high speed hdmi 1.4 cable. Receiver's hdmi control and arc is enabled, TV's hdmi-cec is enabled, but i could not find 'Receiver' in Tv's device menu list. Multiple alternative on/off & device scans doesn't helps and still no ARC to me. Please someone help:sos:.

a close friend bought a f5500 and will be delivered in cpl of days.

how to check Usage hours on the same ?

also any settings/ precautions suggested ?

Hi,

I was having the same problem with my UA40EH5330R.
Seems that i had to use the HDMI port 2 and manually switch on the ARC through the menu setup. Give customer support a call and im sure they will help.

Hope you get a solution!

Yesterday i took a look @ Samsung 51F5500 Plasma model in a Samsung store in chennai.... It was next to Samsung 4 seried LED... Both of the TV were playing HD content..... F5500 plasma outclassed the Series 4 LED in the blacks department....

Blacks were real on F5500 and greyish on 4 series LED.... Colours were more pleasing & Natural on the Plasma especially the Blue Samsung Logo....

Just started to realise what i have been missing with my Sony LCD

All these days were reading only how Plasma is good.... First time witnessed it & simply love this Samsung Plasma F5500 for its superior blacks & Colours....

I am sure many of them here own this great TV.... Am extremely tempted to get this one....:ohyeah:

Yes, Samsung F5500 is good, really good but Samsung F8500 is great. Shame it's not available in 51" here in India.

Yes.. F8500 is in a different league.... If i had the money, i would get 64F8500 without a second thought :ohyeah:

There is only one Samsung Showroom which have the 64F8500 on display for whole of chennai .. When i saw that, immediately i requested for a demo.... I had read many reviews of this model all bragging abt its picture quality, contrast blah blah & some comparing with Panasonic top of the line and saying almost same performance...

When i saw the demo, i juz couldn't believe my eyes... THE BEST tv i have seen so far... All of the reviewers were correct.. Picture is just supreme...

BTW i see Samsung have 5300 series for the US... Not too sure why they are not bringing this series to India... These are the same as 5500 series but exclude 3D & smart TV... May be they think that bringing such value for money models might jeopardize there LED range...:)

If they decide to bring in 5300 series in India & a 60 incher model... Well :licklips:

I would really appreciate if they bring F8500 in 51".

Forgot to add this model to my earlier statement... Even if they launch this model for around 100K, this would simply kill other product ranges 46 & 55 inch with local dimming pro & all that stuff.... My guezz is they won't...

And if they still launch it, then it is for sure a delight for enthusiast

Anyone using PC connected thru HDMI to this TV? Am seriously considering this TV... So wanted to take inputs... Appreciate your help...

Hello Elango..
I'm using the TV along with my laptop occasionally.. And it is an absolute bliss..

With the WiFi streaming and stuff I can stream directly to the TV from PC.. So u can enjoy content without connecting at all..

Go for it..

Again it depends on the content you are playing, i have noticed streaming 2gb 720p movie rip was fine but when i tried 4.17gb 1080p rip, it lagged. Iam using 300mbps router still their is lag.

I have purchased WD external 1TB HDD for this reason. :yahoo:

Thanks Gautam for your inputs... Right now am using my Sony 46 InchTV as my monitor for my CPU thru HDMI Connection.. I wouldn't be streaming anything as the PC has ethernet port directly..... My wife would play games, browse & use it approx for 4- 5 hrs daily other than TV serials... Hence thinking if Plasma can withstand wihtout any issues...

Thanks for your inputs too...I will be using my PC to play back media content to the TV thru HDMI... will not be streaming to the TV...

The thing am little concerned about is the screen flicker which i read somewhere... Is that true ?

Okay I'm assuming you'd be sitting at least ten feet away from the TV while playing games..because the TV is quite big.. I haven't noticed any flicker issues.. Slight image retention with Airtel logo and star world logo.. Which I use YouTube to play the break in slides..
